Damn your garage is nice, you have so much storage in about the same space that I have. I guess I have missed the boat on some storage space....Rich

Thanks for stopping by and thank you for the comments. The main priority I wanted is to park 2 cars in my garage. Now trying to fit the cars, my collections of stuff and all make it function has been a challenge. Its been fun and the GJ has given me place to share my achievements and failures along the lines.

Have a good one Gerard

Re: My "Shop"

REPURPOSING AND NEW IDEAS TO KEEP PLACE CLEAN.

I spent a lot of time doing the place up lately and now more than anytime before I really want to keep this place clean. Wife had the mats and I decided to repurpose them for the clean bench. I flipped them over to show the size.

c52c1d58764e34d0086181295acb5b4e.jpg

They are some soft rubber foam mats and should work nice. I looked for a hiding spot and found something else.
030018cf65346ceed08fe1416ed7fe8d.jpg

These are some cardboard that came with my 44's and this should work also to keep hard board looking good. Ok back to the hiding spot. When I built this bench I rested the top raise edges of the box which now I find is good place to store the mats and cardboard for the HF bench.

3fb4db0f722a76daaad65e2fd468a801.jpg

I also took a extra piece of hard board for the Craftsman wall.
126611e1688df73eb7aeb20c937bf5d0.jpg

All this is to keep tops clean and keeping them looking good as long as possible. I also decided in effort to keep the shop clean I would use my mobile bench as much as possible. Doing this forces me to put all the tools back when finished vs just leaving them on the bench.
1f09c594496d5ca47c2bbced90dca8b0.jpg

Plus it's a beautiful day and opened screens and rolled myself out into fresh air. This box works out as mobile bench with me adding a wood top
4258dc4754494fc597517e067c5e2219.jpg

I can have my air under the side tray
15e483743f0bf01f1d287e408939ebb7.jpg

Any once I fix the electrical I can have power also
9e222de9b3dae603b6ef84c56f040432.jpg

I also today ground down the welds on the 6 drawer and did some spot painting. It was bothering we with that 6 drawer between 2 redone boxes.

any recent pics of the cars parked in the garage? I'm curious how much clearance you have around the cars.

Now we are going to see you in an apron and dust cloth each post? Like my wife says, "A clean place is a happy place". LOL

Looking good and I like the use of the rolling work cart a lot. I am jealous of your warm weather!

Not much has changed since post 519. Although the new garage door has push everything back 4 inches cause the the hurricane reinforcing. There's no difference in the side to side but some small changes in front to back especially on the truck side.

The rolling box will find a home with the sink wall remodel soon. Then I will only have my chair to deal with which we put over here out of way
13db197e1f60e1c78905e7cf05fe16ea.jpg

I use my side door all the time so this area will remain clear plus the fridge will need this space when I go to get a cold Killians. Right now the truck got moved back those few inches to clear the new door
1bd35c02721e3c3bb21322fab5fb7793.jpg

And in the back where I could slip by if I didn't eat that day now I can't.

If you can see the unpainted 2x4 on the sink? That is where the new counter will come out to. It's only 6 inches difference but the remodel will make a big difference.

Looking great Gerard. I'm loving the new mobile cart!!! That'll come in handy.

Thanks man, I wasn't looking for that one but ive after using it I'm so glad I got it. I need to do a paint job on it but that will come in time. I got bigger things coming which need to come first.

I do have a work apron but no dust cloth. My garage will never get to white glove test or get to Herbs level of clean but I have been putting my small shop vac to good use though. I found that by using the cart it keeps my benches uncluttered and in good shape. I would like to keep those new hardboard tops in nice shape for at least a week. LOL

Lots of good looking progress in the garage and yes the mobile tool cart is a great thing. I love having multiple things on wheels now so I can easily go to the work or, re-configure the garage somewhat very quickly by pushing things out of the way.
Too bad about losing the 4 inches due to the garage door. Maybe the full size beer fridge has out lived itself and needs a smaller replacement?

Thanks, I love my stuff on casters and even through they are cheap and small they do the job just fine. I can't wait to build my newest mobile stuff. I don't want to give to many details away but it's something I havn't seen made. I just gonna wait to build it. I probably get to it in few months or sooner if things go well with moving the W/D inside and redoing that wall.

The fridge will be moved soon but my son has a small dorm one not being used. In theory it work work great but we use it for all the house drinks like water, soda, beer. The wife stores extra meats in freezer and we have ice maker it that one. If it was just me using it I would downsize but being we use it for so much more that it's not a option. I will only deal with it for few more weeks. I've been waiting almost 9 years to move it so few more weeks isn't a big deal.

I'm just doing few small things until I rip into the big stuff.

Wow, that will be a great project. You will gain some garage wall, and wife will appreciate having the W/D inside.

Well, that's the plan. We talked about it for the longest time and new W/D should be here this weekend. I'm not worried about garage so much as more worried getting new plumbing, electrical, and venting done.

looks like your going to have to take another vacation lol

Yep, I took vacation at wrong time but I really didn't since I usually get tax return that week. The returns seems to get moved back alittle each year. That's ok cause my anniversary is February 1st and I always take that off and I'll get the stuff done to make the new W/D location working and the garage will come later.

Project Codename : Evicting the wife from garage Phase 1 OF ?????? LMAO....

I thought I would update my progress... The W/D has been delivered and completed the electrical, plumbing, and dryer venting. I did get work done in the garage also. This is look back at a before shot on first day of project.

With water heater moved

With fridge moved

And with all stuff in its temporary setup.
79e508c9e1dd946448042d68320e3907.jpg

Now you can really see how much room I gain
ad247abecb1899f5fd0cc7b5dd23cbd6.jpg

I havnt got a chance to test fit truck yet and I was up to 3am cleaning place up and finishing rest of cleaning tonight.
I still havnt material out of place and off the the side. I got a LONG list to do out here and for this wall. I know fridge is set, W/H set and sink in a temporary set up. I first have to finish ALL the work in closet where the W/D went which includes a counter, finishing the drywall and paint before I tear into this. I also left the wall open cause I wanted to make sure of no leaks plus I got some replumbing work planned for sink. So far it's been forward progress and tough working on 2 areas at once. I so want to do the garage but the deal with wife was I finish inside before I start garage. Happy Wife Happy Life Right? Of course LOL

I only found only issue so far. I do know how many times I walked to the tool box for a drink and realized I moved the fridge 9ft away. LOL

Great stuff Gerard, my wife doesn't have a key to the shed.

You need to get your work triangle figured out, work bench to fridge no more than three steps.

What a huge space saver that will be. A solid victory in the garage war.

Thanks Dubber, it's hard to put into words how much of a difference it's going to be once it's all completed. Just getting the washer and dryer out of the garage is huge but once all my plans are completed it's going to be so much more.

Good work. That space is going to be very valuable to your shop. Is that water heater for the house or just the garage? I have been thinking of a water heater for my shop in about a 30 gallon for washing things up like my hands for one---LOL, and I am tired of using cold water to do it!
Your space gain is going to be super!!
Your sink is nice, and the generator stores nicely underneath it.

Thanks Herb that water heater services the whole house. It's nice cause it's so close that I get almost instant hot water to sink. Here's the new water heater plumbing I thought about tapping some lines to be able to fill buckets up here.

I also made it so I can drain and move water heater if needed. The electrical I can just undo from timer.

1/2 cup... On my lunch break I did some analysis on the work triangle. I believe it's going to work out just fine in its current form.
9fb923e1627a63b25efc63375a1f78c6.jpg

The way this will work is that I do my work on the craftsman bench. When done I moved to the HF bench to put tools away. Once the tools are away I moved to the sink and wash up. After I cleanup it's only one step to the refrigerator for a cold Killians. Then to my chair in the center for a beer and some tv or music. If working on a involve project I can repeat this several times. LMAO

What do you think ?

I'm willing to think about drinking with both of you guys.

Not sure thinking and drinking go that well together----not sure I have enough strength for both.

Hey, good job on the process planning for your new work space. You have it efficiently layed out so none of those work benches get in the way of easy access to a cold one!!! I salute the priority.

Thanks, I think a cold one and the garage goes hand and hand so clear path to the fridge is a necessity. LOL

SINK WALL UPDATE

I got some work done tonight. It's a temporary as I'm working out a larger plan. I went ahead and extended this shelf to the wall
df56bcb4927c3b9681f5d0a1b086e63a.jpg

With extension.
99a34eedbd42fb64c68654d297b72b2b.jpg

I turned the boxes around to fit them all on the one shelf.
66987b856dae97ef4817c84e8c798f40.jpg

I lowered the bottom shelf to hold this. This was a 11ft cabinet from my inlaws kitchen they just remodeled. I cut it down to just over 8ft.

69416c241ac035624e4b466fdd412d2c.jpg

Here's how much I cut off.
574080e50c6dd1a4b35a79636be604f1.jpg

I got doors on but still need to finish off the one side with cutting down one door, adding a side and part of a face frame.

I wasn't planning on doing this just yet but I needed to move the cabinet out the their garage and I wanted it out of my way also. It's a quick set. I gonna keep this area open storage.

Time for a beer and rest. That cabinet is a heavy SOB and I'm not 20 no more. Maybe in mind bit not body LOL
