The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

Might have to make a sign up with that and hang it on the wall.

That was the 1000 post of my thread. I never thought this would get to 500 let alone 1000. So to mark the occasion I will adopt this saying into the 5 Stitches garage.

Paint it, Clean it, Hide it, Throw it!!!!

LOL then have a Killians!!!

Thanks guys for that support and here's to another 1000. [emoji482]

We are about in the same camp on posts numbers. I have posted FAR more here than I ever intended to at the beginning. I want you to know, and all the others as well, that I have learned so much from your posts, and enjoyed them a lot. It is very interesting to come on and see how folks solve their problems in garages and all other repairs and such. I have gotten a lot of ideas from the 5 Stitches Garage, and enjoyed each and every post you made.

Re: My "Shop"

Well decided if I'm gonna get this place done I gonna start somewhere. The biggest key to my is the storage wall and everything starts and begins there.

So with that in mind I redid some of it. I moved most stuff off the top of the sink wall to the storage wall.
2ad758c65ba31bc751027463b5eb2c7d.jpg

This fits this area better cause size of boxes and that I don't use this stuff that much. I also made my hook system the whole length of ceiling. This took going in 110+ attic to put blocking between truss bays.

The area above door and above sink area is meant to hold cleaning related items.

Now new shelf above sink is use to store paint and cleaning stuff. Cleaning fluids and oils/fluids are in cabinet.
0689707b83c54170acc603a3aaf5dcae.jpg
So now whole storage area is parts and storage and sink area is all cleaning, paint, mixing area. Except under sink.

Oh and forgot this
e22415adf56e6b50a3dd1e2fdae8c1c7.jpg
This is all the crimbing. Now now it stored at end but would like to see it closer to jacks but hard cause of mower and edger being bigger and sticks out more. I can't have it hot door when back truck in garage. So that's a big swing and hopefully work around to HF and craftsman wall soon

Great storage with the buckets, boxes and bins. I wish I had room for a set up like that.
I also like your cord storage. I might be copying that one for sure. Great organization!!

I use to keep all my cords in a bin. It was tough getting the one from the bottom. I had the hanging section for the lawn equipment and decided to extend it. I don't care for the look but it uses unused space. Now I figure I can hang many many things depending on the hooks I make.

I always think your place is totally organized for efficient storage and then you find some new tweak to make it better. Good work with each new refinement of the plan. I need to make better use of hanging cords etc in areas like that next to a garage door track where the space is not always easily used anyway.

The storage wall is looks great. I don't think that you wasted a single inch. I always like to put a lip to keep paint and other things from falling off shelves. Although I live in california so we tend to shake sometimes. My paint and chemical cabinet has a lock on it for that reason.

Lookin good as usual.

Do you or can you have a outside garden/storage shed? One thing that makes the 12-gauge garage so effective is the two storage sheds Jack uses for long term storage and bulky items.

Thank you. That's always a tough area. I find it best to layer things I that area. It's not good place for any one item but it's good place for items not used. It also depends on how much room from track to wall you got to use.

I have some plastic cabinets I keep on side of house for garden tools, garden related stuff, and some overflow from garage. I use my attic to the fullest with holiday stuff, camping stuff, fishing poles, golf clubs, ladders, creepers and some overflow from garage. I've been trying to get garage stuff out of attic, sorted and dealt with to lessen stuff in the attic. The stuff I use the most is up front so I can easily pull down ladder and get to.

The 5 Stitches Garage 20 x 22 in FL

I decided to work on some rearranging of stuff tonight. Trying to get each box resorted and put into its new home.
fada3d0c9c7ab49b8064c9d301da8f35.jpg
I decided to switch all my "welding and torch" stuff to my 65 roller.
9708d2c7645a4ed26eaccffe15fb00b7.jpg
And I put it in its new home.
d70f844780d83da782375a03f8685daf.jpg
c74626ffc84bb5c4383fabdbc4584a71.jpg
Now I have all my welding stuff and welding cart next to each other. It's a easy roll out, use and roll back. The 65 needs a paint job and plus I got some more tricks up my sleeve still in future for here.

THEN I come to the WTF moment. I havnt fully disclose changes to this area yet either.
110ea9c37f3aa9221dac1140341e58d9.jpg
In the meantime, I have 2 chest to put somewhere so I moved a roller over to where stack was and here's the WTF issue I ran into.
3d2b53218a7086c3f928b9b3b8aa4841.jpg
The roller doesn't F@CKING fit.

HOW THE F@CK DID THAT HAPPEN?

I get the tape out and the 65 roller is 26 3/8 and the 3 drawer is 26 3/4. A 1/4 of a INCH. ARE YOU F@CKING KIDDING ME? SON OF A B@TCCCCCHHHHHHHHH.

Awe man that 1/4"!!! I guess it was not meant to be, oh well you will find a good home for it... Maybe the tool chest wants to be cleaned up/painted before it finds a new home?

Move the brace under the bench and you should be fine.

LOL I think so. Little ******* won't fit. I got ways to get things done. I just thought I planned it out. There has been 1990 Craftsman stack there before. The bench should be in same place cause I lined up the 2x4 in the walls off the bench. Although I never had that angled support there last time. Simple move means more work. Damn it.

Could you drill a hole on the edge of the wood so the rolled edge slips in?

If modifying the wood isn't a good idea, I would be tempted to re-roll the top edges on the sides of the roller cabinet from an outside roll to an inside roll.

We think alike and it didn't work.

It was still hitting the flat part of the roller on the back. The bench can hang by itself without the 45 degree angled pieces. Those took the bounce out cause of the floating design. I planned on making some heavy duty brackets out of bed frame. I do have some projects first and didn't want to build the brackets and come up short on 3 projects I have designate the steel for.

Not a problem. Just rotate the walls clockwise. If that doesn't work, what would Jack do? Section the box narrower then have a beer.:bounce:

Use a few more of those special tools with the red label. Notch the 2x4 all the way down to clearance the full cabinet height. If that still does not work blame it on those previously used tools with the red label. Oh, then have another.
I have faith you will figure it out.

If I could rotate the walls hell I might as well push them out a couple feet here in there. LOL. My dear neighbor always talks about having a room stretcher. I keep on telling him if you could find one I'll buy it. LOL. Nothing against Jack but this is the 5 Stitches Garage. This place beats to a different drum. A place where his stubbornness, determination, And not taking NO for an answer always wins. [emoji482]

Could you replace the 2x4 with 1/4 " angle iron and gain the clearance, or would you tear up too much in doing that. I am thinking a temporary brace, saw out the 2 by and install the steel brace.

Just an idea.

Herb

I blame those red label tools all the damn time. There's a couple solutions I have I just have to find the one that works and looks the best with keeping that whole floating bench iidea look.

I believe the angle iron is going to work the best. There is a total of four brackets holding the bench up now with the back screwed into the 2x4. I'm thinking two different styles of brackets one for each end and two for the center. I often thought about just putting the damn thing on legs but I would lose too much storage with a 4 x 4 on each end. In the meantime I'm thinking I'll just rested on the toolbox below it.

Maybe some bed rail stock if you have it. It's pretty hard to drill holes to mount it though.

Yeah I agree that's the only angle I have. I have a love-hate relationship with that stuff. I love it because usually I find it for free. I hate it because it is a son of a ***** to drill through.
