Hey since I had some days off work due to my injuries, I was headed down to help you paint. While eating lunch in Chiefland, I read that finished up the painting so I headed back.

So what type of tool box are you looking for, red HF 8 drawer and your birthday may be this year? :lol_hitti

LOL, you and CB are killing me. He thought I should start another wall. I'm working on the "Wall of Craftsman" today. 10 drawer chest and 5 drawer tall will finish it off. Then I'M DONE! My masterpiece is done. When I die I want to cremated and put in the center drawer of the 10 drawer chest. It's only fitting cause this wall is killing me. LOL.

Gerard final resting place. LMAO.

Hey I found this for you for the low, low price of $998.87. Better than a Walmart special.

Re: My "Shop"

Got some work done in garage this weekend in craftsman wall but not ready to post that yet. My father was visiting family past weekend and my uncle sent a care package for us to have. My end was pretty good.

Crown top carry box.

A craftsman rally box.

A drill press vise.

Some hammers.

Some wrenches.

182a310afce238ba20d89391021554d3.jpg

And really like the small one. It's 1/2 and 7/16 but name on it I like.

When I was young I never cared for portable boxes. Now that I'm doing few jobs it seems like I'm using them more and more. This has been my go to box for alittle while.
0b86141d010578db2d613b463b365c26.jpg

Now since got this the crown top I think I'll use the hell out of this one.

It's live a tough brutal life but no rust so band out some of the damage and use the hell out of it. This is good cause I have a new version and my old heritage series one I don't feel like beating up.

I've been doing some handy man work at the local Boys and Girls club in my spare time. My wife was a teacher there and now is director. They had to let go the handy man so helping them out and making few bucks on the side. They had some tools in a shed that's been donated but its not alot at all. So thinking of taking either the Kennedy 520 ( with rusted bottom) , craftsman 526 or the craftsman carry ( one beat to hell) and making up a kit and locking it up it shed. At least I can have basic tools to do something with. I will bring up my cordless tools when I go there.

I got those few weeks ago from my father. He wasn't using them cause he's a Ryobi fan and after buying him a few more batteries and tools for his birthday he really didn't need them. The only tool he using used was the multi tool but I got him the Ryobi version in 18v so made the 12v useless to him. At same time I started helping out at school so been using them instead of my 18v nicad Dewalts. They been working out quite well with only complaint been battery life.

That wall is looking good and the paint just adds to the character. Now that Crown box has been rode hard and put up wet a time or two.

Thanks, Yep I caved to peer pressure but now after I paint I don't know if using pegboard after all especially after what I did to craftsman wall.

I no longer have my original tool boxes but I sometimes wish I did. They where just basic home owner grade 1990's Craftsman. I'm really happy to have the rally box just got to find a place to get the crinkle black paint to touch it up.

I really love that box too. Ill never get rid of it and I doubt I'll ever restore that one either cause patina looks so good on it. I have to learn about cleaning and waxing that one.

Re: My "Shop"

Had some time off this week so spent few days getting this place in shape. I first had to deal with some of the materials I had laying around in every space I could find including the attic. I started with all the wood s accumulated.

Sink area changes.

d3a8d34f4e92793da49a6f36aa54d9de.jpg
I didn't care to see the underside of the sink and water heater but need access so I made a removal piece so wouldn't see it.
1744e564311036ace0b0d647b9e623a3.jpg

I also added more support next to the sink with a 2x4 furring strip and a 45degree angle piece. Now there's no dip in the middle. 3b0973dde0154c354dcfa97a10b7d83e.jpg

I FINALLY got the last door on the cabinets and first coat of paint.
06f269b59f81857159ce34e34f9e4119.jpg

I had to swap toolboxes around cause the 2 520 and 526 didn't fit the shelf so brought down the third 520 and put the 526 on the sink on the counter. I figure I can put small stuff from the cabinets
86869c4678e144d9ec9c5d14b08c6eb4.jpg
I did have to remove the top but I already drilled out the rivets before and only put 2 back in so wasn't big deal.

The HF bench changes.

Not many changes over here. The 520 is back on machinist chest shelf and the Rally, Hip and carry box are up in the holding area.

The Craftsman wall changes.

This wall had the most action this week. I cut down and reused the small shelf I had used to hold my chargers but now it's hold..... Craftsman tool boxes. Yep, after finding the other 2 drawer carry box and having 2 other carry boxes I wanted to incorporate them into the wall somehow.

24988857169ffbd4c48e82b39532f598.jpg

I could fit all 4 but DP takes up the space on the shelf.

Just so everyone's OCD including mine is in check yes the drawers line up. LOL
1ffe1749aeda291f72bc70b77d85b881.jpg

With the extra plywood I had around I made another top for the 5 drawer. I repainted both of the tops for the 5 and 9 drawer rollers.
d3ba693dbd0ad2cab2374043201ce0e1.jpg

With both in there home.
5ee83f7208a0dab125e7b38e748a48e9.jpg

I also made tips for the 3 bottom rollers.

86df0ebbe78d50c069a2aea31c88c4ec.jpg

Still dealing with this corner. I dealt with the majority of excess wood pieces although with few projects still to make. Next is dealing with all the bed frame and metal I've been saving. Feel like I'm on a episode on 1/2 Cups " show your ugly" but I feel took big swing at it. Besides the corner I feel I really thinned out this wall. With only thing tucked away is my 2 creepers.

43ba0a73b24c9e94fcb017b1783290a4.jpg

I'm feeling pretty good about direction going in with all changes. Only few weeks ago things looked like this.
f343fec28b5c580136fbfee2b73fc22e.jpg
And currently.
b0260351e6911c811e4b0f841ef7c922.jpg
f56c1ea8bed93ed62f9d51be39ac66de.jpg

PS Yes all the peer pressure about painting was a good thing cause now with the shelf holding the tool boxes putting pegboard up seems pointless now.

Gerard,
Great re-organization!
Looks good!

Thank you sir. I generally hoard a lot of stuff not knowing when or if going to need it. I'm really looking to get where I'm enjoying more than building.

Looks Great. That's a ton of storage and the Craftsman wall is killer. I would ditch the shelf and do pegboard, but I like to have a little more bench area and tools in grabbing distance.

Well, that was the orginal plan but I have these carry boxes and figured why not include them into the wall cause they do match the era.

its amazing how different my place looks from using tapatalk on my phone to using the website on the computer. HOLY **** my place looks horrible. No wonder you guys where on me about painting. Maybe I should start using a crappy camera instead of my phone so pictures don't come out that GOOD.

Thanks man those boxes been around for a while and shame to be sitting around now that I made the WALL OF CRAFTSMAN. You would be right and wrong about the 6 drawer. Yes, the drawers don't line up BUT if you put a 10 where the 6 drawer in the drawers will line up. Which is the box that will be in that location in the future. LOL :pimpflash

Thanks man, you know one thing is missing on that bench. A Craftsman vise maybe a 518x or 519x series. I did have a nice Craftsman vise but honestly that Chinese vise I'm using actually had a finer thread and less slop in the dynamic jaw than that Craftsman.
3e9541724280c2876d55d7ad74f59d3a.jpg

I do have a Reed 204 and Prentiss 19 stored away. I do have a small clamp on Craftsman on the bench.

Re: My "Shop"

Other day while dealing with the wood scraps I made some mounting plates for some of my bench machines.
310de8cb82816ca6f82c9216872042d4.jpg

Here's one for one of my grinders.
611060d77c005a8213df6d442a037315.jpg

I triple measured the holes and layout.

4cc17432de22325fd0b6c9bbfb76a367.jpg

With it mounted you can see how the other mounting holes line up with the holes I drilled couple months ago.

b42c28c39bee8ac59fe997d3141761b3.jpg

Only 2 bolts hold in down to the bench.

7bbb1a82c99f311a2ca3d74370c276e3.jpg

Takes about 30 seconds to undo the bolts.

8691f378d6b300124d9b7d459011afa3.jpg

The backsplash acts like such and also is used to hold the cord.

8f5989f1008a2397525dfb251ac0c6e8.jpg

With it easily unbolt and cord wrapped up I just put it up on shelf.
db462f182804c7a64d20ae3027e221b8.jpg

You can see that size I cut the mounting plates allow me to bump my 3 main grinders right next to each other. Now that I figured out the first its time to do other 2 plus the other mounting plates I need for other machines.

I don't think that idea had a snowballs chance in hell of not being stolen. I just so happen to have the perfect scraps for it too.

You know, that bench top could use some p.......:dunno:

Have you thought about routing in a 1/4 plate with threaded holes? That would be sweet, no fooling with nuts. What size bolts are you using?
