When you get your label maker do what Alexbn92 did in his Hobby Garage and put the labels on magnets. Otherwise you will be doing what I did and cranking up the heat gun every few weeks. I need to find an old refrigerator door to pull the magnetic strips out of the seals.

Good idea! I had some magnetic business cards but best I can find something similar to use.

The phone books around here have one on them. I usually rip it off before i drop the book in the recycling bin. Problem is they don't hold much. Painted one black to cover something and the paint weighed too much.

Well, since everyone in the FC seems to have a detail a sketch of there shop on a computer I went old school figuring it out.
I drawn this up few months ago just before I sold the WOC. It included a layout that just included best parts of the WOC. I kept. This is general plan for House B.

Left wall

155b51d5161d46e33b6cde77eb01249a.jpg

Back wall

Right wall

a7ab59a443c555bef3b1988314edf618.jpg

The left wall is set that's how it's going to be.

The back wall is up in air. 20ft deep garage with a 17.5 ft long truck. I end up like GB with no walk way behind truck. The shelves I had in inlaws house are 18 x 36. To left of entry door is fridge.

The right wall is what I'm calling my Fab wall. The 2 cm and thing between it was 2 5D bottoms/ 10D chest stacks with vintage DP between them. Now those are gone and most likely have a desk there. My FIL has a low work table there and it's nice to sit right next to the door.

66d42e1e620097819c015e25785d38f3.jpg

My plan is to take the desk and cut it down to fit between door and panel. This is the desk.

0210c1d191b404b263753207e7965c67.jpg

Only issue is 3ft right of door is electrical panel. Yep once again damn panel in my way. LOL. I not sure if I'm gonna move the desk to next of entry door to the house and move shelves to fab wall. Desk and shelves will be on casters so I'll figure it out. Rest of wall is how it's going to be. I didn't make plans for the compressor or lawn mowing equipment. The compressor will be my 30 gallon I have now. I will again no hose reels or anything.

c3bd6b892a954c8f8add5dbc19de3a52.jpg

Extra handle I added allows my to loop all the air line I will need.

843bc967ee860bda5f69c2c2b2c78732.jpg

Manifold allows me to run individual soft air lines to any location if wanted to have line over bench or other side of garage without installing hardlines.

The one of my FIL tools I havnt made plans for is his vintage AMF Dewalt radial arm. It's a good all saw and I like that's it's set up ready to go. All in all I have next place pretty much planned out as far as big pieces will go.

That is a nice looking compressor! My 60gl compressor only has a single piston. That air compressor looks like it can put out a good amount of air.

It's been a good compressor and I can't complain at all for price I got it for. It's a twin cylinder single stage unit. I redid all the plumbing on it from tank up. I moved it all up so when wrap the hose on the handle i can still see gauges and use regulator. I haven't done that much air wise to warrant the 60gal. I have always wanted a small bench top blast cabinet so If get one will see how it performs. I really prefer the 30gal over a 60gal for mobility. There's been few times I've had to roll it somewhere to use where I couldn't reach with a air line. Figure that 100 to 150 ft of line wasn't enough. LOL.

I have the same compressor attached to a 26gall tank. I use it occasionally with my blasting cabinet but have to stop and let it catch up. Because I am not working commercially it's fine. I might, or at least hope to add to the system but it works for now.

In reference to your garage plan sketches. Are you going away from the one all of totes then to an upper shelf that rings the entire garage up high for just totes with tool and equipment placement underneath?

Yes sir, well that's the plan. I probably gonna buy all new totes that won't be as tall. All the tool related stuff I have on the Work Wall top shelf now Im thinking of using the shelving units for all that stuff. In House B the Fab Wall is my issue. I really want that area to really useable. There's a lot of stuff to put over there. I could swap the Toolbox wall and Fab Wall but rather keep the dirty work out of the pathway from garage to entry door to keep wife happy. Right now when I work it disrupts entire garage.

The snowball effect...

Well, I notice my compressor started clicking on on occasion. It's really odd cause I spent ALOT of time making sure I don't have a single leak. I often good few days or even a week without using it and don't lose any air. Maybe, it goes back to the days when I had a oilless compressor that was sooooo loud it could wake the dead. I made it a point to fix any link so damn thing wouldn't run unless using it.

So as said I started to kick on from time to time. I come to fine out the coupler at end of my manifold was leaking. Ok so I bought a Milton. I recharge the manifold and check. Well found out now my pressure regulator its now leaking. I tried to tighten but screws stripped out out. So now I buy I new one at HD. The way I set this up it's actually easier to take off pump and motor than reseal all the plumbing.

fb8c51b94771ea653ab58bd02f41ab15.jpg

Here's the old ref to new reg.
27fbeaa4dfa07a3633a011599969248c.jpg

So I get it all back together and I then snap the the threads in the ball valve. So go to but another valve but couldn't find another like one I got before. This is one on bottom of tank for my drain valve.
7161e3c9267d45cb5f95a72102214ab9.jpg

So I got a 3/8 ball valve and got 2 3/8 to 1/4 NPT adapters. I installed that one but F@CKING crack one of the adapters. So I put one I had on bottom of tank to shut off and crack on on bottom with crack to the unpressurized size of the drain valve.

Actually, im glad I took to down this far cause I found issue in pressure switch.
ffdcbec135f6655667aebe66c62cdda9.jpg

While I had it apart I did some modifications to the belt guard.
2abfc1d5afc10956c2ea6ed5282740ff.jpg
Before I had to take off the pulleys to get other part of belt guard off. I could never get the pump pulley off. I actually tried and broke off a piece awhile back.

a65f02fefa4ee430c74ce1c30e0c3ad1.jpg

I also show another modification I did before to help changing the oil.

069ff9a20641157b68b31049347e0daa.jpg

Ok so now I started to put things back together
d3eaa4ffb9e48d2d0bffbd555677c3ea.jpg
3ad68c18b6fcb320c6398a097fa930b9.jpg

Ok now from tank I have pop off valve before and after shut off valve. These are both 175 psi valves with compressor being a 155 psi compressor. I fill tank to 60psi and test all that plumbing out. Still a leak. WTF. So long story short the factory install the nut inside regulator upside down. Don't ask me how. Only way I came to this is when I would turn pressure up and after certain psi would drop pressure. So I get finally get that fixed and put all together and test it...... no leaks and holding pressure in tank and from shut off valve to coupler at end of manifold. This is why I love having the shut off there. I can just pressurize the manifold to check for leaks. I can also work of things without draining the tank and refilling it. Just open and close the valve to recharge the manifold.

Now I put all back together. I add pump, motor, do electrical, new modified belt guard pump it up to 150. After all that NOW only thing I didn't messed with ( water separator) now has crack in the bowl. MOTHERF@CKER. Well now I have to go get one of those.

Your luck with the air compressor is how mine seems to go some days!

Holy **** Gerard!! When it rains, it pours at your place! This sounds like something that would happen to me!

After seeing your manifold setup, I was thinking to myself "hmm.. maybe I should do something like that with my setup". But after what you just went through, I don't think I'll touch mine. :headscrat

Good luck! I hope the water separator is the only thing that's left to fix.

Hmm ..
I have a very slow leak in my compressor but it takes a few days before it loses enough air to kick on. I don't think I will screw with it after your experience.
I do like the idea of a valve to isolate the manifold though so maybe in the new year.....

Gerard, I feel for you. I have a 60-gallon HF compressor with about eight 1/2-inch fittings between the tank and the ball valve. I lost count of all the fittings in the system beyond the ball valve. If I remember to shut the valve, my compressor doesn't run even though power is on. There are tiny leaks in the 70 feet of 1/2-inch galvanized and copper pipe and probably some in the 80 feet of hose so the compressor runs once every 12- to 18-hours. Chinese galvanized fittings are not always round. I have decided to live with the tiny leaks because fixing them will start that same swirling ride down the air toilet that you just took.

Well, I can't complain too much. I got that compressor for dirt cheap used thinking few years ago. I did all the plumbing on it when I got it and really had no issues. I buy pressure regulators and water filters from Home Depot or Lowes. They seems to only last couple of years especially the bowls of the water separator. They are plastic and with vibration and 150 pressure they tend to crack.

The manifold idea is not a bad thing. There are many way you can do it. I wanted all my plumbing a certain way. It's just my thing. Best way is to do a manifold then run a flex line from tank to manifold. Then you can take it off in one piece better than way I did.

I used some good sealant that I loved to use. It was 3m industrial 800 sealant. Once I get those fittings all sealed up I really didn't want to break them apart. I was out of the sealant so used teflon tape this time.

It really works well. I didn't have a pop off valve before the shut off valve before. I didn't realize it to month or so after. Only thing is you have to remember to reopen the valve before using or put shut off after the pressure switch. I chose to put it right off the tank so if anything needed work I could with draining the tank.

Wow, I thought I had fittings. I really the the union right above the outlet of tank. I wanted to do that but don't have them in 3/8 or 1/4 only in 1/2. Bob, I used this stuff on all my old fittings.

5e9a0472d72f59d676038e59c5d0fa1e.jpg

I would apply it on the threads, use a toothpick or awl and making sure threads where all filled and let sit overnight. Once you tighten in down zero leaks. This stuff works AWESOME and once together it not only seals but it turns into very tough rubber. If I break a seal apart and had to redo I would have to use wire wheel on bench grinder to get it off. My father used to give me a tube once in a while when he got a extra one at work. After he retired I can't get it so gonna have to order some.

Sounds like last Friday at work for me. Just one thing after another going off the rails.

Good idea with the shutoff pre-manifold, I'll have to add that to mine.

At least your tool cart looks like it's working out.

Those lines can be a pain. I have a isolation valve right out of the tank and it's always been my practice is to shut it and the electrical off.

If you have to get into it again, check out a hydraulic supply store, the steel pipe fittings they have are the quality of brass but cheaper.

Hate those small fixes where one issue just keeps leading to the next. But, it sounds like you got it sorted and are now good for a long while.

I already moved one of the bottom drawers to the top so.... all the drawer handles line up. LOL

All this is the plan when I move to the new house.

I'm really really happy with the way it turned out.

For those that's wondering that's 15 1/2 feet of boxes. I actually downsized because the WOC was 12 1/2 feet plus then the 44's was 7 feet so if I looking at 18 feet if I turned the 9D the right way. Okay I calling it downsizing. LOL.

Must be contagious! After seeing your HF haul, I could feel the calling and decided I needed to go there to take advantage of one more freebie with any purchase. You see, I decided to give all my BIL's some HF stocking stuffers for Christmas. After I collected the past year's take( 5 sets of screwdrivers, 5 LED flashlights, 5 pairs of work gloves and 4-25' tape measures) I realized I needed to get another free tape measure; and the fact that I went to HF a LOT of times last year. I ended up buying $46 of stuff for myself just to get a free tape measure! LOL It's all stuff I use regularly, both at work and at home, so there's the justification!

Sounds like last Friday at work for me. Just one thing after another going off the rails.

Good idea with the shutoff pre-manifold, I'll have to add that to mine.

At least your tool cart looks like it's working out.

GB.

Yeah, it's happens. Tool cart is working out good. Actually, I just emptied it.. just to figure out drawer setup in new 44's.

Those lines can be a pain. I have a isolation valve right out of the tank and it's always been my practice is to shut it and the electrical off.

If you have to get into it again, check out a hydraulic supply store, the steel pipe fittings they have are the quality of brass but cheaper.

That procedure would be fine... but one variable. The WIFE!!! There's times when she would go out there to use the nozzle to blow out the vacuum or something. It's easier just to keep on and valve open.

Hate those small fixes where one issue just keeps leading to the next. But, it sounds like you got it sorted and are now good for a long while.

No kidding!!! Some people have issues with certain tools. My problem tools are gas blowers and air compressors. They work half the time and give me issues the rest. I got backpack blower working great and it's off limits to everyone. The compressor should be ok for year or so hopefully.

That's a good idea for stocking stuffers. Actually, I don't shop there that often but I have a few flashlights, multi meter, and magnetic dish for bolts. I've been wanting to try out some of there tools. I just havnt pulled the trigger on any yet.

I have one a couple of miles from the house and another near where I do a lot of work. I am careful what I buy there. My power and air tool philosophy is if I am not going to use something very often or very hard I have found it to be good enough. Mostly what I get there are consumables and hand tools. Quality is similar on most to what you would find at a Walmart usually. Some items they are the best source for though such as casters and floor dollies.

I've heard that she allows him to have his toy tool boxes in her garage.

LOL, when when moved I commandeered the garage for me except the where the washer and dryer was her corner.
