Have you checked or replaced the rear pads? I had a 2011 Explorer and it seemed like the bias was to use the rear pads more than the front. My fronts didn't wear very quickly and were still original as of 80k.

Well, I mentioned to pick up above. They where front disk rear drum trucks so between cheap parts store pads I got decent pad wear but probably 40 to 50k if remember right. I owned a 1999 Ford Expedition that had 4 wheel disk and got hood pad wear.

I had no plans of touching the rears today. I'm not feeling well but my father came over for something and one thing lead to another and got rears some today. Once again great pad wear consider they're the original.

See, all that backing out of the garage to move boxes made sure the rear pads were always adjusted and you got good even wear on them. So, garage tetris can actually benefit your vehicle!

Thanks Jon. I appreciate it. We are accustomed to some crazy weather but as years go by it's always seems to surprise us. Winters get colder for you guys and the summers get hotter for us. Its even crazier when last year I had friends in Conn going through a heat way and it was colder in Florida. I think we just all move to Hawaii where the warmer it great year round. [emoji482]

I've notice that. Did seem like all the outer pads where worn slightly more than the inner. The front pads are floaters and rears are clipped into the piston and outer part of the caliber. All the pins where clean and moved freely but I did notice all the slides looked alilttle rough.


Truck is 2007 with almost 70k and brakes never been touched so maybe pads not sliding the the slides? Kit came with all new slides so will see.

Maybe because of being in the rust belt, but the 10000 plus pair of pads I've changed over the years, it's pretty rare to see all the pads wearing evenly. Around here the rust builds up under the spring clips and then the pads don't move away from the rotor as they should causing one to go away long before the other one does.

Yeah it's hard to show you pictures but I didn't see anything that jumped out at me having an issue. What's scary is that I got more life as a freaking break pads and I did the front hub bearings. First time had a issue with set of theses but I heard they don't get the life expectancy of say a tampered bearing.

Mr Eddie ( my neighbor) bought this brand-new little Toyota Corolla. Well one night his wife went in the hospital and I offered to drive him and his car up there. I got in the car and started driving I am here this grinding noise then I realize it's the front bearings. The car barely had like 35,000 miles on it. He's a very slow driver doesn't put any excess wear on his car so I was kind of shocked that those went bad before the warranty even was up. The Toyota dealership ended up replacing them under warranty which was good because it save me about $400.

LOL. I got stuff set up pretty much where is gonna stay. I would like to get some pneumatic casters or some HF 44 casters for a couple of the items I do plan to move around a lot. I got probably get a good deal on them if more people start building a Steevo bench.

When my son was about 19 he and I were driving and saw a truck unloading new lease returns in front of a used car dealership. The license plates were still on most. He really liked one but I knew that it was from northern Ohio. The inside of the engine compartment was pretty much salt colored. He did not understand the difference until we opened the hood on an Alabama car and there was actual paint and readable labels on parts.

Well, not much has been going on around here lately. I've been taking care of family obligations with my in laws being my FIL has had few stays in the hospital.

A week or so ago I did have a failed attempt of changing my layout some. It looked great but when move one item there's 4 other items that get changed. I ended up rolling it all back where it was previously. Garage looks like a bomb went off in it and can't remember when had vehicles park in here other then to work on them.

I think I screwed myself buying 2 more 44s and side cabinet. While it's definitely is look I wanted it really eats up floor space now with theme going for. Im now wondering if 2 top chest and 2 side lockers would have been better.

I've been trying to reinvent the 5 Stitches Garage into something that can be easily moved to another space. While some parts of that have been real easy while some have left me baffled on how to deal with them. Ive been a very good expert at throwing **** in corners and hiding **** over the years which is something I don't want to do again.

The SO and AV cart have really been a issue. The AV cart is great as small mobile bench but right now it's holding my welder and torches. The SO is nice but I lose to many drawers when I put torches in there but it's too big to use mobile cart especially when I add the top I want. Then it comes down to where can I store them now and down the road? Right now I can fit by sink but either have tops on them. I still have a 24x36 cart in attic I've been trying to put in plan.

When comes down to it some things are just gonna have to be cut from my the layout. I know the 44s, TC's and the MB's are staying. The fate of the SO, AV cart, the 24x36 cart, file cabinet and other items still are unknown at the time.

I eluded to on previous post of my FIL health lately. Last night we got phone call at 1245am that my FIL had taken a turn for the worst. My MIL and wife spend all night by his side while I took support role just as my wife did for my father and I when my mother passed. This morning at about 715am my FIL passed. It has been a whirlwind of emotions today seeing my wife and MIL lose the man they loved. Even myself just lost it at times seeing them deal with this.

My FIL didn't want a service or much done after he passed. He will be cremated and placed in Bushnell, FL and given a military send off. He served in Korea.



He was great man than treated me more like a son rather than SIL. We used to sit around the table and talk shop over few beers He was a woodworker with old school ways and me more mechanical with new school ways. We learned a lot from each other over the years.

I made a promise to him that I would take care of things and especially his girls. That said I'll be taking alittle time off from my place and thread but I'll be back again....

Very sorry for your loss Gerard and especially for your wife and MIL. I liked your comment of taking on the support role. That's the task at hand so praying for peace to your family and strength to you to be that support. Sounds like there are many good memories to share and take some comfort in about a good man.

Gerard, sorry to read of the loss of your FIL. You were a lucky man to have that kind of relationship in your life. Take those photos and hang them in the shop, it's a small way to honor that relationship.

The hard part of your loss is that the greater loss is your wife's and as guys who fix things we want to fix the hurt our loved ones are feeling.
