Thing is huge compared to my 1/2 and 3/8. It’s a 3/4 and goes up to 600ft lbs of torque.


Not sure what gonna do with it yet. Ill look into it down the road. It could become wall art or one hell of a ratcheting breaker bar. LOL. No more getting out a 3ft pipe.

Gerard, I wonder how far off calibration it is. If it's less than 10% off at the upper end, it might still be real close on the low end. I wanted to check my old torque wrenches and came across an article that mentioned how surprisingly accurate the Harbor Freight digital torque adapter is. I think I paid less than $20 for it.

The Harbor Freight adapter only goes up to 147.6 ft. lbs. you might want to spend a little more (~$70) for a 3/4-inch one that goes up to 750 ft. lbs. like this one:

I might have to try that Bob. I think they sent sent it off for calibration every year by the box.



It does have this sticker on it.



I’m not sure on the tolerances or how much it needs to be off to failed calibration test. I watched a YouTube video on how to check at home. I don’t use mine that much. I bought mine 2nd and found my 1/2 on side of road. It would be good to check them. I did compare the 2 I had to each other and they matched. It’s not the most scientific way to do things but they matched.

I have a Firestick. I have a guest room that currently doesn’t have a box so thinking of putting the box in there so company can use. I currently have the Firestick in living room for watching movies but last night looked into what more it can do. I’m also looking into a wireless mirroring receiver for my den. My plan was to hook my computer to a flat screen to view internet and YouTube. Now probably just use my phone and mirror it to the TV. Also looking into HDMI mirror for other stuff. Be nice to watch my YouTube Subscriptions on the TV in the garage.

I use a mirroring receiver and it works great. Only problem is when I am trying to watch something and people keep messaging and it comes up on the TV. I mean who gets 89 messages in the evening. And all from people like G, S and C.

Another project done.... this house has been through 4 hurricanes of of 2004, Irma in 2017 and countless tropical storms and micro bursts. It took a storm 2 or 3 weeks ago for me to withstand some damage and lose some singles. We plan on having the roof replaced within the next year but I needed to patch it until that is accomplished. Here’s the damage.



I bought a bundle of shingles so decided to strip the side of my ridge vent back.





I just copied what they did on other side of my roof. I’ve seen roofing done but honestly this is the first time I ever done any roof repair or nailing shingles down.





Took about hour or so but here’s the finished work. Granted I couldn’t get the correct color to my original singles so charcoal was best match imo.



It was humid as a SOB today.



I guess I should set clock on temp gauge. It was about 1130 when took picture. LOL

I brought my old shingle in and tried matching it up. I thought the charcoal was good but there was a lighter one that probably would have worked better. It’s a temporary until get roof done.

Thanks Bob. We been talking about new roof for few years now. It’s a big ticket item we been pushing off. One reason is that my current shingles was laid over old roof. Roof isn’t in bad shape but I know I have some soft spots in my soffits. It’s a 25 shingle but I know insurance is gonna say 20 years and it needs to be replaced. It was installed in 1999 so 20 years puts it at some point in 2019 before I get that call from the insurance company. After sinkhole insurance company tried to cancel me saying roof was old but they came out and said it’s good plus it was nailed with newer 6 nail hurricane pattern. It’s just matter of time before install new one.

A Gerarding in progress......

Been busy around the shop lately and there has been some “Gerarding” going on. This past week I was on vacation and I had some garage projects I wanted to get done. Nothing tooo crazy but it was to start my fastener cabinet and deal with all the wood I piled up.

I started got some done but I still have a long way to go. That’s the long story short and will just leave it at that. LOL. I started looking at the sink area thinking what in the hell in gonna do over here. I really never done anything anything with area since ripping down most of the shelfves. Well thought it was time to deal with it since it’s last area that needs to get figured out. I also had the HF60 and file cabinet to figure out.

Here’s what that area looks like.



3 options I had.

1. Cut current top and place one side on HF60 and other on file cabinet. The file cabinet will get casters.

Pros is that’s it 2 pieces that’s movable and doesn’t change any spacing I currently have.

Cons tops don’t match size of way other 44’s a and I got scrap wood still sitting around.

2. Make new tops for both.

Both will have new tops matching depth of other 44.

Pros it matches other cabinets and deals with wood taking up space.

Cons tops will protrude into wall path behind wife’s car and won’t never be able to bring truck in on that side.

3. Do nothing and deal the the F@CKING mess in garage first you jackass. LOL.

I was going with option 3 but sink area needed help. I took the work top and turned it into a shelf.





I added a light right above sink area because one in ceiling just wasn’t covering it.



When I took hardboard top off I found something I did years ago. I painted the top gray. That brings back memories.



Since seems like I’m reverting to many things I had originally in this place years I might just have to revisit that idea too. Hint Hint. LOL.

I also moved Mac box to top of file cabinet to get a some ideas. Still working on the TV desk idea.

In a attempt to get more organized and I decided to change few other things up. On the shelf above the HF wall I took all those gas cans and put them in the attic. They are just used when a hurricane hits and need to store fuel. Now with those out of the way the opened the entire shelf up for store.



The 9D bin get moved from sink area since now won’t fit on shelf. The black crates just trail run to seen if useable. The red bins is now parts storage for to do or in progress parts. I separated them into

Home
Truck
Camper
GJFC exchange
Fabrication
Misc.

I had one bin doing this but turned into big mess.

I took day off Thursday to visit a coworker. He’s doing his garage over and it looked great. New floor and white painted walls. When I came back home and looked at my place I realized that it wasn’t that bad but could use some paint. Believe or not I did plan on fixing the walls and painting entire garage after I finished getting done. Well I thought well maybe I just fix couple of the bad areas until I can paint maybe this summer.

That didn’t happen. I painted under all the shelves and painted, the walls and front edge of 44’s. I used small roller and spray gun to speed cut it areas.











I even got the sink area I previously didn’t do fully. Just painting the front edge of 44’s help tie everything together. It’s not much but it’s really satisfying seeing it all look cohesive.

I don’t have a vise issue just need more benchs. LOL. The versa vise is something I’ve been hunting for awhile. It’s in great shape.



The rotator is a chinism vise which I’m ok with.

This is another one that I can searching for for a little bit at the right price. I’ve had one of these before and regretted getting rid of it. I got some interesting plans for this but you just have to wait until I can get to it. LOL.

As one who lives not far from Hell MI I was wondering why we had temps down to -14 last week. Trust me that Hell was indeed froze over and now I know why. Gerard was painting his garage!!!

Really though, congrats on the painting and not waiting for that mythical day when all the patch work will be done and everything is perfect. I had procrastinated for years thinking I would fix little things before painting and that was a big mistake. I am so pleased with the result and you will be too. Like you said, its really nice to see the cohesiveness and I bet its a lot brighter too.

Thanks Bob. I started out this week thinking I need to deal with this cabinet because I have so much all over the place that need to be sorted and organized into that one cabinet. Painting wasn’t in the plan but it was a break from sorting all those mountains of stuff into bins. LOL.

Hey buddy. I’ve been busy but not nearly as I was in years past. I have no complaints at all with the HF cabinets. I wish got some HF top chest and side lockers sometimes instead of bottom cabinets. There’s always a trade off between having work surface verse storage space. This layout with a lot work surface has worked out good if I can keep is cleaned up. LOL I must admit HF having all ball bearing slides is big improvement over friction slides. Overall, IMO the 44’s is a better useable cabinet but can’t hold a candle to the WOC as far as “COOL” factor. LOL.

Wow it’s been long time since I’ve been around here. Let’s see... I’ll start with the camper. Since I last posted we have taken the camper out twice. Once for a 4 day trip to Ginnie Springs in High Springs,Fl. We camped 4 days with just hanging water hook up. We also had water heater and refrigerator which ran off propane.









Great time and no issues with the rig. We just got back from Dillard Ga where we spent 6 nights and 7 days in a full hook up site. I didn’t take the Sport Trac but my father’s F150. My concern was pulling with the hills and it was very nice to have a bigger truck driving all the miles we did. Only issue was a reset we needed to do to the refrigerator. Well I had it parked here hooked up I was making sure their refrigerator worked and it was on unlevel ground so running out long enough put it in a lockout mode and needed to reset the control board. I worried but it was a simple fix and it was up and running again.

We didn’t stay at camper much at all with traveling to Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. A lot of driving and we didn’t get to see a lot of what we thought we would so next year we are planning on two weeks of that area.





The camper has just been great to use. 5 trips since we had it and liking to plan more that everything is done. We worked on so much in the trailer from the floors to the roof to re-doing the tongue layout to wiring to all new brakes.








I even got myself a brake controller.


Only thing is a seat control hitch.
