You can add a sway bar that is like disc brakes and has a little ball on the tongue and hitch for about $50. It shouldn't be too hard of a welding job if your hitch doesn't have the attachment. I bought a piece of plate with the hole already drilled when I got mine and had my wife's uncle weld it because he had the time and equipment and wanted us to go to the lake with them that weekend. It made all the difference in towing the 24' rig I bought it for.

I looked it up and this is the one I had many years ago. Probably cheaper than one night in a campground now.

I did think about something like that but since I have some swat with my truck looking more at a WDH with sway built it. I’ve been looking into a Curt Equalizer. I need it more with my truck than my father’s. I also know next truck and trailer combo will need it also. I’m kinda planning ahead

I can say much been happening this week. A item jump in back of my truck again... it’s amazing how this happens. It’s been sitting in there for week or so until I could think of a use.

This weekend I really wanted to turn off phone, turn on tunes and get moving on the clean up. Well something got to start a project to clean. I got this awhile ago.

73a89c567e2bab9cc17aea1063b42c2c.jpg

I really couldn’t find use and Jack leaked alittle. It just sat around for months. My fan has been great the problem is the base even though I can roll it around I wanted something a little more low profile. So I decided to use it as a rolling low profile base.

bbbef6542ead582f5ecf1a4e9c2173e7.jpg

Like everything lately it needed alittle tweaking.

ad9d48cd4112f23a9029c1a860b69ff3.jpg

I just ended up welding the 2” pipe flange to the jack. I kinda screwed up. I was out of gas, I used .030 flux core but should have used .35 but didn’t want to open new roll I had.

708a64e7fe8760c61d06a7480a1941f8.jpg

This will now roll under all 44’s, tall cabinets and mobile benchs. The only thing it won’t roll under is file cabinets as them only had 2” casters currently.

4f9bfb16c5cbfb6fd3d6e174e345bb23.jpg

It’s work in progress but now only have one item to move away and trip over than 2. Talking about welding. I ran out of gas because my guages shot on regulator. So I went today and got 3 tanks exchanged.

149ae2554eb9a767aab3fc8c61962a33.jpg

I was excited to finally use my O/A set up and only to find out my oxygen regulator started leaking. So now need to get it fixed or replaced and also along with my MIG regulator. It’s frustrating. Amazon here I come.

So this weekend has some up and downs. One of the positives was getting a use for item that jumped in my truck.

5c770af45cc6286f6c7d49157d02619d.jpg

It’s a 12x18x48 cabinet that was a part of a cargo system for a van. I added some casters and got some stuff off the ground.

073c8ca245b9e61fdc57b64faff9fe1c.jpg

It’s alittle rough I spots with paint blistering because of rust and someone cut the shelves.

0be4bf3af2853161d1997b1afa68033c.jpg

It’s solid and I can use to store stuff and roll it around. I not sure permanent use as of yet but as temporary use it’s gonna work fine.

I did “Gerard” myself alittle and needed to make some room in the 44’s.

d15211e5cba52528778a8a28f9f46b36.jpg

I needed some new drills and wasn’t sure what system to go with. I’m Dewalt guy but was looking at Milwaukee. Even then M12, M12fuel, M18, M18fuel? Well was at Home Depot today and imo to good deal to pass up. It was $200. I saw same drill/ impact kit with same ah batteries for $100 so for extra $100 I get light, saw, and ratchet. M12 works for me as I have corded tools when more power needed. I saw 3.0ah batteries for $100 but since spend $80 of welding exchange I just get another day.

I didn’t get as much done as I would liked but it was a step in right direction.

Gerard, after all these years, your going to tell us it stayed in truck until you came up with a use?

Come clean now, it’s more of when can I sneak in so wife won’t notice?:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

I’m a changed man... I don’t bring stuff home or in the garage until a have a use. I have limited space and don’t want to “Gerard” myself into a new entire layout. [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Glad you came clean on that but that tall cabinet is great for all the small parts bins. Good use of the old floor jack too. And your flux core welds look a whole lot better than mine.

You do know she reads your thread regularly? No-need to check the truck bed, "check the blog!" She gets more-detail that way too.

Nahhhhhhh... I’ve been married to her for 16 years and been working on garages since before we been married. She knows me too well. Her wish is to have the garage cleaned up and not changed. I’m working to that point.

Thanks man. That tall cabinet is great size to be used for a lot of things. I’m hoping the repurposed jack idea works out. In theory it should just a matter of tweaking it. Thanks for compliments on my flux core. I actually like using mig better but tend to use flux core a lot more. It’s a lot of factors that helped out. YouTube videos, weld prep, and especially dailing in my machine has really helped me get better results.

That's what I thought too when I read that :lol_hitti

An idea for that grey cabinet (that jumped into your truck), if you rip out the metal shelves and make a plywood insert module and turn it into a parts organizer cabinet. I trust you have seen this thread.

Cabinet for Small Parts Storage Cases

I have to look up how to spell milw...kee every time so I'm still in makita and dewalt land :bounce: but their inkzall markers are very nice.

edit: oh and paint it red

Actually, I did read his build awhile ago and he did a awesome job. It came out great.

25d11f27592f7343ae69999c0edb7866.jpg

Actually, a lot of projects like his gave me the inspiration to do my file cabinets. First with my lateral file with the yellow bins and now 4 drawer file cabinet with new bins.

9d3526f605a9c3a1a889b5048e11f24e.jpg

Right now I have 42 of the Plano bins and bottom drawer still had 8 of the yellow. I really happy with the Plano and would find maybe a deeper version to replace 8 yellow ones in bottom drawer. They probably make them just don’t sell them at Walmart.

What I might do with the gray cabinet is put some stuff from the file cabinet to the left and it making more space for a bins and that file cabinet. There are just some items that just don’t fit in the file cabinets that I could get to fit in that gray cabinet. Hopefully within the next couple weeks I can figure all this out.

Gerard, be careful with that Milwaukee M12 drill. If you get a second M12 tool and turn off the lghts, they'll be multiplying in your garage. Ask me how I know.

Well, I’m alive and everything still in its same place. Imagine that? Well been working a lot of OT at work and spending time working on other things over my house and the MILs.

Now the garage situation... this fastener cabinet has been kicking my ***. It’s really my own fault. Project been years in making. I dumped all the bins, buckets and every hiding spot and decided to sort it out. It’s been alittle overwhelming and not the fun projects you really want to do. I really needed to find my bench on the work side. It’s been such a disaster for months now and been messing up rest of garage to work on anything. I got some done and those worked out great but rest have been harder to to. I decided to sub sort the rest of the stuff into categories then make a bin later when have time.I decided to used the gray cabinet as temporary storage for pre sorted stuff.

54a6feb8ea9106a79ed188fcfbf385eb.jpg

I actually seen the top of the work bench. I can’t remember last time I seen that.

e01b0afea69a446cbd1227cf4362c759.jpg

Well that didn’t last that long. It’s been a week since I’ve done that and seems like I’ve just going in circles. The weather been rainy here so perfect day for some QST. I got up early and figured out where I can make room. I wrote down general idea of where things where going.

0f50f9d9cfc8d38b010601286b8c8ca2.jpg

After that I decided one place I could make room was in the tall 7 drawer cabinets. I did kinda set these up but they really needed to be reorganized to say the least. I started by taking the center dividers out of 2 more drawers which makes them more usable. I got one full cabinet done and few drawers in the other.

The 3 bottom drawers are metal storage which will need to be gone through and sorted wants good and what will be tossed. I really wish I had the room to fit another one of these cabinets because they fit a lot of stuff. Today was a productive day or should say a step closer to getting this side functioning again.

Jacks and jack stands in drawers....................

I'm most certain that any comment I make about that would be so wrong on so many levels that I won't comment at all for fear of being labeled as a "jack ***".

That’s ok Mack. He likes jack in his drawers.

G, you definitely have made great progress.

Well, we've launched the FC gathering at Taumacs. We felt the need to post up some warning signs for everyone attending.

Despite what he may say, he has a cool wife, she occupied T so we could get the signs up.

We're having a blast.

See, we were accurate in cautioning everyone that entered your garage of the dangers, we just didn't think you fall victim to yourself in a last minute rearrange that you don't even remember.:lol_hitti

Good times. [emoji481]

Sheesh that 3 years has gone quick.

Looks like you are still at the Gerarding, I already worked my next layout a while ago, just need the time to try it out now.

Got any more camper trips coming up? Mine is looking sad with all the **** piled on it at the moment.

Hey GB... yeah it’s been 3 years. Boy times fly and honestly garage doesn’t look to much like it did back then. I’ve honestly been sticking pretty much to the last layout. The new mobile layout makes it easy just to tweak things.

I have some trips planned for next year already. March, May, and July so far. Biggest issue is there a lot of great places to go it’s hard to pick a place. To get the good spots in these campgrounds reservations are needed far in advance. Kinda takes away from getting away for weekend on a whim. Now separating trips into weekend and vacation trips. It’s learning experience but really enjoying it so far.

Love the neatly arranged pull out drawers. Now if you can do that for all your fasteners and small parts bins. So much easier finding hardware in a pull out drawer than pulling everything off a shelf.
Good work, keep Gerarding alive and well.

Great job on all the cabinets and drawer storage. I have to organize all my bolts in a cabinet I got from a Radio Shack closing, if I ever get motivated. It was 115 on Sunday and 119 on Monday and my back has been very sore.....

I working on it... I don’t know how much “Gerarding” it going to happen. I got keep wife happy happy. I got her side pretty much done and stays clean for most. That said she really hasn’t complained to much about the other side. Although I think other side has moved from to do list to bucket list. LOL. It seems like never gonna get it done.

Thanks man. I sometimes wish I got some of those cabinets. They really nice. I can totally sympathize with you on that. I much rather paint that work on sorting fasteners. The heat take all the motivation right out of you. I’ve been holding the couch down more than being outside in garage. It seemed at one point I lived out there. I know at few points wife wanted to put bed out there. I’m not sure if was mad I kept changing the place or being helpful. I’m sure she was being helpful. LMFAO.

I’m taking new approach in fact trying to do few small things at night just so not so much a big project on weekends. It’s been helpful when I get out there to do it.
