Hello, I'm 22 YO, and just bought my first home!

It's not going to make it on the HGTV channel, but it's modest, and I can AFFORD it.

My favorite part is, 3 car garage. I will be taking my time with this, and getting some nice cabinets and trying to make it a nice/functional work area.

Here is the house.

And here's my recently acquired 240Z with a 6 liter V8, and 6 speed trans.
I will be using the drive train in my project car.

Okay, so tomorrow is the closing, I thought I would have time to insulate and drywall the new bay on the garage, but I don't think I'll have time before it starts snowing.. I also wanted to do knock down texture, and do a darker acid wash on the floor.

We'll see how it goes. :bounce:

Damn... can I ask what you do for a living? I'm 22, and have been in my house for over a year. That's not what I'd call modest...

I've been working in fabrication for 4 years, and I've been at my current company for over 3 years, and I build and weld 2500 gallon stainless steel fuel tanks.

Also, as hobbies, I enjoy fab work, and I've been attempting to work with composites also.

I would also assume from the number of toys and age you are single. I will add a location might also tell some of the tale if you would add a general location in your profile it will help all of us help you at some point .

Okay, I just closed on my house, and I'm officially a HOMEOWNER.

Time to go throw up some drywall compound on the old screw holes/dimples and paint.

Also, I'm going to start off right away with nice(see cheap costing) storage cabinets in the garage.

I also want to do drywall knockdown texture, but that might wait.

Perfect plan young man. You get into a good mortgage early, then you're way ahead of the game by the time you're in middle age. You deserve a lot of credit for this accomplishment. It shows maturity and good financial common sense.

Good work!! --think of the shop as a bonus for your excellent decison making skills and your hard work.

T88 keep an eye on your local craigslist for cabinets . I put a wanted add on mine for old metal kitchen cabinets had a guy call me who had some . He ended up giving me 14' of cabinets but they were stacked 3 high so I ended up with 42' of uppers and lowers al together . A little sanding and painting and they look like new cabinets . I still havent painted them all :D

I bought my first house in my early 20s and it was a move I never regretted.
in fact I would not have the house I have now if it was not for the fact that I was able to make money on the previous houses and moved my way up

congrads...good move

I pretty much have to tear apart most of the "trim" around doors and stuff, and fix a few cracks in the drywall seams before you guys will see pics.

I've already tore out a few of those metal corner pieces and found that they barely had the drywall nailed down, no wonder it was cracking out.

I'm going around and redoing most of the seams. They also barely mudded over the tapered seams, so I'll have to go back over it with the wider trowels and level the seams out.

Still looking for cabinets on the local craigslist.

Also, looking at painting the house, so I've been pretty busy.

Thanks.
