A great bed rack option for the Diamondback bed cover is the unit offered by Front Runner. It’s made incredibly well and does what it is designed to do perfectly, but I needed something focused more on hauling maker goods. And so, the Atomic Diamondback Bed Rack was born…

Hey guys... I am reposting this project as I used it as a test delete during migration... I know... I know... Super unprofessional, but I have no regrets...

Sorry about that. Took the day away from the forum to work on the old feature articles and screwed everything up. Typical day at Atomic.
Nothing to appologize for. I certinally wasn't complaining that it happened. I noticed it was there twice, wondered why and if I should mention it, saw the explanation and my curiosity was satisfied. As screw ups go, in my world, that's hardly worth a mention. I mean, nothing caught on fire, it didn't cost any money and nobody got hurt.

No offense but for 1600 for the cover and the time and energy for the rack system. Why not buy a tonneu that allows access to the stake pockets so you could use a rack system to carry a extension ladder or longer items? Looks like good quality workmanship though.

If you find one that:

- leaves access to stake pockets
- is weather tight
- can support 1600 pounds

well then… hollar at me! :)

Well my bacflip can do 400lbs and can use stake pockets but I don't plan on carring a small car on a tonneu cover. LOL. Peace...

I know this isn't the intent of the thread, but I can't resist- I have a Diamondback AND a $900 slide out tray on a Colorado! Talk about spend-overkill. But it does what I need it to do for my job. And I didn't have to pay for it. I have a VERY accommodating boss who listens to reason. Different strokes, as they say. Sometimes the cheaper way isn't the most economical way.

I love the way the bakflip looks. They are so clean and simple… I had three main issues with mine:

1. It’s way too easy to defeat the lock with a clothes hanger.

2. Mine leaked a little too much for my liking.

3. The build quality kind of *****… Those clips to hang the support arms on when you have it flipped up? The plastic clips for the straps? The poorly done extrusions for the side supports?

I just don’t know if the value is there for my needs. However, I do absolutely love the aesthetic.

I’m not huge on the DB looks really… though it has grown on me… Functionality wise? I haven’t found anything that can touch it.
