The tires you just need to take off and measure them. Looks like maybe it is a 9" or 10" saw. Amazon has tires.

Man Bret, thank you. What I thought might be a challenge, you made a simple afternoon online shopping spree. Haha! I hadn’t looked anywhere yet and thought someone on here would know a quick and easy solution. And there you were!

I’m going to work on cleaning it up and getting it back to working order. Will be nice having a bandsaw around.

Went to my grandparents for Christmas dinner and gift exchange. My grandfather told me I could pick up this bandsaw he picked up at a garage sale for $20. Here are a few pictures of it in my garage. He said it needs new tires and a new blade guard (circle thing that goes into the table). Does anyone know where to get parts for these older Delta bandsaws?

I have the same band saw! I love it. It really tracks nice, but you have to keep it oiled. He is what I believe is the manual. I like to print out the manuals for my older machines and keep them handy.

Wow! That is a nice looking machine sir. Dang! I will have to put in a little time on it but I’m looking forward to getting to use it.

I had an incident in the garage today. I was moving everything out of the way so my wife could park in here during the winter and when I got done, I opened the garage door and the shaft broke on the motor. I told my wife she just isn’t destined to park in there. Haha.

Got the new part ordered for $20 off amazon. I had to repair the circuit board because as I was removing it from the machine, I shorted it out. BUT, I got it fixed and working. Just waiting for the shaft to be delivered.



You can see on the top right my repair to the circuit board. Remember I am a MECHANICAL engineer...



You can see that I moved the drill press and bench grinder. I think it works out better here in case I’m tinkering at the workbench and the drill bits are stored in that file cabinet.



These are the old gloves I’ve had since the summer of 2009. The others are new ones my boss got me as a Christmas gift. Much needed.

Well I installed the new shaft and got the garage opener working. I started setting the travel limits and I guess I worked the motor too hard and it let its smoke out. The GDO continued to work but needed help getting the door to close. Tried adjusting the force to close but still didn’t have the muscle. Maybe I messed it up more than I thought when I shorted the circuit board or during my repair.

So...I bought the Ryobi 1.25hp GDO and am happy with it so far. Only complaint is the indoor wireless control pad doesn’t work so well. Wondering if I can hook up a button like the old GDO to control the open and close function of the GDO.





Also went hunting over Christmas break and got this little 10pt. Sorry for the picture of me. Thought it was of just the deer head.

I did some investigating on the indoor key pad for the GDO and opened up the receiver for it. The antenna wire was just coiled up inside so I drilled a hole and ran the antenna outside the receiver. It is working much better now!

Our house had three very lightweight 8-foot garage doors with those openers. For a big wind insurance reduction I replaced all three doors with heavier hurricane-rated doors and then put foam insulation in them. One of the three openers is still working but it is rarely used -- it's almost 31 years old. I tried replacing the circuit board but it was more expensive than a new more powerful opener. I've replaced the other two openers with 1/2hp Craftsman units (the most used one has been replaced a second time).

Hey Bob, good morning! The old 1/3hp Liftmaster was actually hooked up to my 16’ garage door. Maybe that was too much for it over the years. The old residents left a business card for a garage door repair man and I gave him a call. He said that it was quite common for GDO’s to shear that shaft after years of use. He quoted me $185-$200 for him to replace it but told me the part# and that it could be purchased straight from Liftmaster for roughly $16. I tried that route and had success but I think it was my own fault burning the motor up after excessively running the door up and down trying to set the limits.

We now have a new “smart” GDO.

We all took off from work yesterday to send her off. We buried her next to her mother on the prairie where my wife grew up. She isn't in anymore pain which is the best thing.

I don't know when I'll muster up to get back in the garage. It's still pretty rough walking in there by myself.

Thanks Unruh. I really like it and it’s functional. Just can’t store my full length stock which isn’t a big deal because I shouldn’t have all that to begin with. I bought too much for those projects and never returned it.

Hello y’all, got some time back in the garage again. We were cleaning the house up and we had an old tv and instead of getting rid of it, I went to Harbor Freight and got a tv wall mount for cheap. I got the tv hung up and then ordered the Amazon Fire Stick. I was worried I wouldn’t get a strong enough WiFi signal in the garage but I did! Which is awesome because now I can watch tv shows, movies, and how-to videos right in the garage. I can also listen to music now over the tv and don’t have to carry my Bluetooth speaker out there if I don’t want to.



I’ve also been taking in a little bit of work for building subwoofer enclosures. Something I used to be deep in a few years ago. Was nice getting back to my roots but with more experience on the tools so I can make more precise cuts. Here is a 6th order bandpass I made for two 8” subwoofers. The enclosure was designed by someone with way more knowledge than me and it came out great.



I’ve also been toying with the idea of making stickers for my garage to give away with the enclosures or other items in the future that I’m making. A way to honor my Pepper girl. It could probably use some attention but you get the idea. What do y’all think?

Thanks Unruh! I made the cabinets on the left half side high enough to go over the hood of my truck because I knew I would need to add onto them eventually. The cabinets on the right half are primarily for brewing equipment.



The fridge in the picture there is a repair job I am doing. For some reason it quit working and it’s an LG which I am told are notorious for breaking down right at the 3yr mark. Which is also the end of warranty for the compressor which might be my issue. That or I have a Freon leak.....ouch! We get voltage drops on our house/neighborhood for some reason which I think is related to Ellington airfield when they are practicing their short runway launches. I bought a neat little surge protector for my “new” fridge. By “new” I mean it’s a scratch&dent which was fairly priced.

I picked up a chest freezer for $100. Couple years old but in a great shape. Going to make a fermentation chamber out of it and maybe later, into a keezer(freezer converted to kegerator). More stuff in the garage!
