Well after several years of viewing everyone garages and ideas. I have finally posted something. We purchase a new house back in November 2014 and just moved in, two weeks ago. Now with the extensive remodeling projects coming to an end, in the living quarters. I have time to focus on the basement. One of the main reasons for purchasing this new house was for a shop build. Well this isn't the shop build, but a basement redo. Keep in mind the shop will be built in next 2 years, so this is a temporary assignment for the basement. Past owners ran a gun smith shop out of basement. Now I am making it into kindof a handy man shop. At this point no direction and no plan. Will try to post picture of current state later this evening.
Wish Me Luck!!

Good luck. I just purchased a house with no garage, small carport, but huge full heated/cooled basement. My plan sounds similar to yours, make a general shop area in the basement while saving for a garage build.

Well it took me awhile. Please see some of the contents and basic layout of basement. I really don't have any set direction.

Mini project: finishing a Stronghold workbench. Originally use in an industrial environment. A lot of surface rust. What recommendation for protecting it after all rust is gone??

Some would call me crazy. But bench had to go. Got to make room for welder, toolbox, torch set, and I am sure a lot of other stuff.

You're going to be able to get some good work done in there! The Lista and it's friend are great.

So the layout is killing me. You've a roll-up garage type door, so you're on a hill or the basement is partial sunk? And then in the pic with the kid's John Deere, the far workbench area looks to have an overhead skylight? I'm very interested in the architectural layout if you are okay with sharing more.

The basement is daylight with one roll up door and another man door. Please excuse the mess outdoor project going on as well.
There are two bulkhead running through the basement for ac duct. I will try to draw up a rough layout of basement sometime this week.

Thank you, your picture makes sense of it for me.

The mature trees make for a great area. Good luck with your outdoors buildup as well.

The area is perfect. Close enough to the important stuff ( grocery stores pharmacy) but still in a country setting. My lot 4+acres. This little sub division was mostly built in the mid 80s. The mature trees are nice but little too close to house for comfort (some of the tree are coming down).

One cord reel has a work light attached the other has just an outlet. I actually have 3 more. 1 more 16 gauge cord the others are high amp reels.

I would use a little WD-40 in the table top. Looks like a good welding surface.

Always thought a basement shop with a garage door would make an ideal place to work on a project car. Close to the refrigerator, no walking to the shop through snow or rain and close to help if you need a hand for a few minutes.

Well good news / bad news. Off for 2 days good news. Spent entire time in Charleston SC at MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina). Wife had to have another surgery on her eye. Bad news
Project completion will be slow for at least 2 weeks.

Charleston is one of my favorite cities. In fact, I was at Patriot's Point this past weekend for a military reunion. Great place to spend a day or two.

Hopefully the people at MUSC will be able to help your wife and the next time you visit you can have some fun!

We have been to charleston 10 + times already this year. It's our home away from home. It's about a 4 hour ride from home. MUSC is awesome cannot say one negative thing about it.

Success!! Hopefully this will not stay here long though. Same place I got all the other "Lista" cabinets will be selling more. Paid $225 for the big Lista other two "friends" were free. My lead think rest will sell for around $300 a piece. I am hoping for 3 more the same size.

Another freebie from a scrap pile. Actually got 2 of them. 1 was given to my dad. Overall both units were in great shape. Going to see if I can shine it up a bit. Starting tear down now.

Little boy wants a clubhouse and I need somewhere to store lawn equipment. So the decision was made to build a 10x16 storage shed with a club house on top. Not much progress made tonight. After this picture was taken a little hiccup happen.
