Mike I love those prints, any more info on them? That Gulf-liveried Porsche is gorgeous.

Of course! The 917 print was done for a gallery show a while back; the theme was "movie cars". Here's a link with the Japanese translation:

http://insidetherockposterframe.blo...e-917k-movie-poster-kako-Righteous-Rides.html

(I believe this link has another link to actually purchase)

I was sure to pick mine up before posting, as quantities are limited. (I have no affiliation, just really like the print and wish I had a 917 for street use / terrorizing Bay View)

The other print is by Gianmarco Magnani, who focuses a lot on bikes / other subjects. If I could I'd buy 'em all;

http://www.silencetv.com/work.html

Again, no affiliation, just really like the work.

Thanks Mike. Really nice stuff, I love the style of both of these artists. I think the print will do you nicely until you find an actual 917 for a steal on eBay. :)

...and if you do, I want a ride.

I did pick up a new grout sponge this weekend and plan to put it to good use soon; sounds like the key is "barely damp"...

Take good pics!

The contractors are finally getting around to finishing the siding on our house/garage remodel, so soon they'll be moving out of my garage and I can start moving in!

Well, life, and daily-driver maintenance has gotten in the way of actually mudding / sanding (though doing a brake job and sway bar links on my driver was a whole new experience in a heated, drywalled garage!)

I do have ALL of the drywall up and everything is taped though...

Did you give this a go? How'd it work out. (I suppose I could check your thread, but it's late and I'm feeling lazy...)

Heh. Not yet. Having finished one wall, I decided to take a break from drywall and work on a few other things for a while. I'm even using my shop as a (gasp) workshop! It's been awhile.

I have a small patch of drywall that has to be finished before I can start on another part of the shop (dependencies!) so I'll get to try it soon-ish.

I will certainly be documenting the results and will report back. I do think I'll go the traditional route in corners / tight spots though. I feel like I'll have more control with a soft "drywall sanding sponge" (basically the soft sanding block you find in the drywall isle of every homedepot). I'll find out soon enough.

Good news on moving in! I look forward to seeing the progress!

what a concept! Same here - it felt great to actually reach for a ratchet, rather than a framing square yesterday; it reminded me why I'm doing all of this (though I am not-so-secretly enjoying the build out...)

This always a challenge for me, though I know better now; I always want to move on to break the menoteny of the task at hand, but have learned that (for me) it's always harder to go back and finish the "before" step.

(as evidencedby the as-yet unfinished toe moling in my master suite...)

Your shop is looking good - looking forward to seeing the progress!

Ok - this thread is (for now) back from the dead. I've gone through a lot of personal stuff in the last year and updates on the the garage became less of a priority, but it also became my respite while getting through a tough time. Progress has continued and it's now a very comfortable space to work in.

I have a new bike project also...

Wow. Nice garage - worth the wait.

I really, really like the wall of old reclaimed palette wood, it provides great contrast to the finished drywall. The table/workbench in front of the bike (and in front of the overhead garage door) reminds me a bit of the table in Jack Olsen's garage (and that's a good thing). It also looks like you ran with the lights that you had found (or similar) - regardless, they look good.

Tell us about the Hondas - a Dream and a 350-ish cc cafe project?

BTW, your dog looks perfectly comfortable in the middle of the couch. ;) Your garage looks like a great space in which to spend some time.

Very nice build Mike - hard to see some of the early pics (they are huge - I think I can only see about a 16th on screen at a time :willy_nil), but the later ones are all good.

A lot of great details - the windows, the pallet wall and in particular, the logo/labelling on the switch panel is absolutely awesome.

I don't see the Charger in the new pics?

Thanks for the positive feedback. The workbench is an old drafting table I've had since college. I added a butcher block top and set it up to work on my 1975 Honda cb360 cafe project. It will return to the basement when I'm done / when I pull my Charger out of storage in the spring.

The other bike is a "Baby" dream, 1965 Honda C200. It's only 90cc, but a lot of fun around town.

I did run with the lights mentioned earlier in the thread. They're from ikea and look great for something so cheap. I did have to have some stainless mounting plates made from sheet steel so they would clear the garage door (and because I left too big of a gap around the boxes when I dry walled). While I was at it, I had some plates for the wall sconces made up with the BVG "X" logo...

I still have some work left to do: epoxy the floor, trim around the door and window, build a door for the compressor closet, etc., but it's finally very livable[emoji4]

Thanks! As I just mentioned in my previous post, I do still have the charger. It's in hibernation for the winter, so I'm taking advantage of the space with my bike project.

I don't know why that happened to the early pics...they didn't look like that when I originally posted them...

Nice! I just stumbled on this thread and "Bay View" got my attention. I could ride my bike to your house. I especially like the pic of the PBR sitting on the roll cab. Yep, you are in Milwaukee. I'd love to come see the place in person, but I don't want to be a creeper or anything. The design is definitely in line with your neighborhood. It's cool that you work at Snap-On, too. I knew a machinist that worked there a long time ago. Anyway, awesome project. It looks great and very well thought out.

Looks great!
Did you stain the pallet wood?

My garage has similar features: pallet wall, red toolboxes, and soon to be white walls.

I did stain the pallet wood. I used a dark walnut stain from minwax. I had great results on some 1920's doors in the house and liked the dark, rich color. It's really dark, but works well with the white walls in the garage. I also liked that the different pieces / types of wood from various pallets took the stain in different ways, making for a wall of varying colors. The trick is to spread out the varieties of wood.

Side note - now that I'm regularly viewing in Tapatalk, vs. the full site, I don't have the scaling issues with early photos. They all look as they should. Anyone have thoughts on how to (easily) fix my early posts?

Oh man am I happy to see this thread back in active mode. I missed the update late last year, but the shop looks fantastic! Really nice work there. And I think you're way ahead of me.

Anyone have thoughts on how to (easily) fix my early posts?

Generally, most image hosting services will have different links available for different sizes. I can't speak to yours specifically (I have no experience with it) but that's typically how it works.

And yeah, on a regular computer, a bunch of your photos are so ridiculously large that it's hard to get a good look at what you're showing.

After having these prints sitting at work for almost a year, I finally got them framed and hung today. I'm really happy with the halogen spots:

...one more shot of the whole space, just because.

Coming plans include installing ceiling speakers, which I ran wire for pre-drywall:

I'll build a box or shelf for the receiver once the speakers are in:

White 964 looks fantastic....prices of those are now going up and up.

Great space.

Mates.

Appreciation is appreciated, however - I was looking at Ferrari 308s when I bought the 964...talk about a missed window. Hemings reports a 40% increase in value in the last 3 months!!! I now have my eye on Dino 308GT4s.

Anyone have one for sale?
