With the whole COVID thing going on and everyone staying at home more I decided to do a little work on my destroyed patio. I had a 24x26 slab poured which lead me to my next dilemma. I now had this big patio and the grill while it was quite fine I wanted a bigger space. Ever time we BBQ I am always setting up extra tables just to put stuff on. I also wanted it to be mobile because we do sometimes have block parties an it would get wheeled out to the street. I had some 3x8 sheets of stainless in my garage for a very long time. It was now time to use them.
I got the bench design from torched here who made telescopic legs for his bench. It was an awesome design and I wanted to incorporate it.
The whole thing is 2x2 square tube with the doors made out of 1x1
I also got some fireball tool squares for Christmas which gave me a great excuse to use them for a cool project. 0AC41652-5F36-4FC1-8AE3-2EAEAEA7E8BC.jpg

Today was the 2 steps forward 3 steps back routine. I messed up my measurements and the BBQ wouldn’t fit the way I planned. I had to cut it in half and add 2 “ to make it wider. Tomorrow is another day. I am the reason for the saying measure twice cut once.

Finished it up. I now have twice as much counter space and a nice place to store my 2 extra propane cylinders. Last thing is the counter tops.

The only thing I changed on his design was I didn’t weld the top not on. I used a half inch heavy nut on the bottom and a regular half inch nut on the top as a jam nut. This way I can just remove the jam nuts and take the leg out easily if I have to.

Looks good! What are you planning for the countertops?

The base of my Weber gas grill is rusting out and this gives me some great ideas to not only repair but improve the entire setup. Thanks for posting the details.

I go to tti when I’m in a pinch and need it fast. Otherwise I will usually drive down to fazzio in wall township. They give me a better deal

Definitely better deals, I don’t usually need much so I’ll go to tti while I’m at work. I have a major steel fabricator Not too far from where I live who will order what ever I want for me when I need a decent amount, which is very rare.

The countertops are going to be granite. I was going to do concrete , but found granite remnants pretty reasonable.

Nice.

I just picked up a Pit Barrel Cooker on Saturday so I need to build something for counter space around the PBC to hold food, prep etc. Never ending project list.

Fazzio is a metal work hobbiest dream. Wall is like 45 minutes from me, but they do have it all, and tend to have stuff on special thats nice.

Sweet grill setup and thanks for posting that leg / table thread. Going to plan my new welding table and this is a nice to have.

Nice mobile grill station.

The title did make me laugh a bit as I expected a big smoker. Interesting regional differences there.

Is this the part where I bring up the eternal debate between gas and charcoal :D

Nice clean job. Once spring is here I need to get busy with a few welding protects. Yesterday morning it was -11f, a tad chilly for comfort.

Lol. I guess it really is a mobile grill station, but if it ran into a dear I think it might put it down..... we’ll probably not , but would definitely take out an adult. :lol_hitti
