I made a complaint to the VACC after I found a few earlier issues and he would not and could not sign off on the LPG system. That fell on deaf ears. Also mad a complaint to the LPG authority at the same time.

Best I can say now is I have heard of others making complaints about the workmanship.
He burnt a bridge with Cummins as they are not impressed with something he did.

No point in me trying to get water out of a stone now.

Took two of us to put all the under dash back together and I have just finished some of the other jobs. Back on the road again after a grease and a few other checks ready for the Summer events.

I spoke to soon. failed to connect all the electrics under the dash. Trying to work out a fast easy way to fix so we do not have to remove the under dash panel again. Two wires for the interior lights have gone missing. Well they are there but we can not see them. Possibly stuck under an air con hose.:mad:

4 years..... you're way more patient than I am. After it failed the second one I would have held out my hand for a full refund.

Yes I may be patient but I am very angry  as he chased me to do this work and well simply put he let me down. Quality is remembered and in this case for all the wrong reasons.

A mate used to say to me it is impossible to fly like an Eagle when you are surrounded by Turkeys.

Well done, this weather will test the AC out 40 C odd yesterday and around 35 C. now, it looks cooler in your neck of the woods.

Was a better day to work on it. Much cooler here. Have a couple of nutserts now that have to be replaced at a later date as they are simply not designed to be removed and replaced so often.

You can only drill the little critters out, any chance of putting the sqeeze on them again with your nutsert tool, sometimes that works if the thread is ok.
I have an AVDEL unit and found that you really have to be spot on when you drill the hole then debur it on both sides.

Not going to bother with them for now. Out of 3 two have failed and one was a second time after fixing as you suggested and the other I manged to fix. They can wait for now.

I do not have to worry about drilling them out as they simply fell apart.

Another trial run today and this time I got the electric brake controller set up and working (The F4 been on the road since 2009 so it has taken me some time  although I had to do plenty of work on the trailer over the last couple of years). Trailer towed well empty and I went for a drive round Castlemaine. Yet to load it up but that can wait for another trip now I have it all working. Should look good at an event when I off load the T Roadster out of the back.

Its hard to tell but does the trailer have a front axle, or is that a jack at the corner? We have some of those trailer types at work but they don't see over 35mph.

Nice project.

Thank you.

The trailer actually has an axle on each of the six wheels. Individual suspension on each wheel and underneath they look like this. >

A 5th wheel design and the 5th wheel is part of the front of the trailer with the draw bar out from that. Back in post 372 I posted this photo of the trailer

so that may give you a better idea as to the set up.

Love the truck (and the entire project).. I was surprised to see you had a plain boxy white trailer behind such a thing of beauty. I would have imagined a more rounded unit like this.

But there is only so many hours in the day... and $$$ in the bank

Your photo is not working :dunno:.

Trailer was built many years ago before the F4 HOTFR8 was even an idea.
In the earlier days the trailer had a graphic paint job but last time I painted it I decided it was easier to keep the trailer all white.

View media item 38789This is an older photo of the trailer wen I first got the 4x4 International truck set up to tow it. I can still tow the trailer with the Inter if I want.

One of the awkward things I failed to mention was setting up the brake away connection for the trailer with the F4 HOTFR8. The trailer has safety chains and a requirement for the electric brakes with the breakaway controller as well. With the International I just hooked the break away up with the chains but with the F4 I had to devise a different set up as the safety chains are very different given the F4 has a newer style removeable tow hitch. I also have to run longer chains with the F4 as the tow bar is so much longer than the one on the International and to do this I have a couple of D shackles and a couple of these heavy duty spring clips.
phpThumb.php

After some time I decided it was easier to use a small piece of chain and wrap it round the tow bar frame and connect the break away system again with a smaller one of the spring clips although much smaller as it only has to connect a cable. That way I only have to connect or use the chain when I tow this trailer.

The cable for lights, brakes and power also required some consideration and that was easily solved with a small piece of rope to tie the connection to the A Frame of the trailer but in future I may devise something that looks much better. Specially given I have two very different vehicles now that can tow this trailer.

Re: Sheddwellers. (The Extension).

Delivered a 4 post hoist to a fellow in Adelaide yesterday and one of his fathers projects ( he'd be in his 80's) was putting a cummins diesel into a Australian delivered bronco. He had converted it from a 4 wheel drive to a 2 wheel drive, and from auto to a 5 speed dodge box.

pity they can't do a secure outside exhib for vehicles like yours..

any happy snaps?

As I stated not easy to photograph this year and it was not like last year as even the light in the building was not very good. I would have posted something if I felt it was good enough. As for outdoor well they did do something on the Saturday and Sunday so I was told. I do not get a look in at these events due to size and year.

ohhhh  .... she looks sweet

too busy right now to look at or comment much on other projects :eyecrazy:

... but as soon as i have some time to kill i need to read this thread from the beginning

Like your project on very similar lines but sadly many of the older photos have gone. I am watching your project with interest.

Saw this beast at an auto auction today in Seattle, and thought of your beast.

I believe it had a supercharged Triton V10

I didn't get the chance to see it cross the block.

I only had a few hours to walk the 600+ cars, and my wallet was feeling a little thin.

Photographer was due today to do the feature for Australian Custom Trucks magazine. It has been wet here earlier in the week so a clean up and wash of the truck was late happening. Once I got into the cleaning I found some one had removed (stolen  ) nut covers so the photo shoot has been delayed. So today (Sunday) I have to meet with the fellow that supplied me with these nut covers and replace all that have been removed. These will be glued on again but this time I may look for a stronger glue.

Photo shoot hopefully will happen as soon as I have the parts replaced.

Not having a good day... OK Not having a great weekend.

Historic Vehicle Car Club had a run to Daylesford yesterday for a ride on the Spa Country Tourist Railway and as I had said I would go I did not want to miss it. Gave me a chance to test out the Electric water pump I had fitted to my XP Falcon. Well the Falcon ran well and the EWP worked well but the train got hot and both engines shut down DERM (Diesel Electric Rail Motor) and I was late home. A Y Class Diesel had to come out from Daylesford and tow the rail motor home. Still all good fun and well catered for in both food and drink :) and I heard nothing of the Football Grand Final until I got home.

Looking forward seeing how the article turns out.
Nut covers missing/ stolen unbelieveable.

Regards

It gets worse.....

A few phone calls today (yes on Sunday) chasing up the bolt / nut covers only to find I can not get them so have to look on the internet. I had a bright idea that Dome nuts would look better only to find the bolts are metric and not 3/8 so that idea went away quickly. Back to looking for the nut covers and then I find who ever took the nut covers must have almost sat on the guard as it is rubbing on the rear tyres as the covers left are still glued on very well with Loctite Superflex. I have the light bar apart but still have to remove the broken bolts, sheared them off flush. So I have that to fix the light bar as well as the left rear guard and get it all adjusted before we get back to the photo shoot. :willy_nil

Oh well, the way the wind is blowing perhaps I should just stay inside now. :(

I'll post when the photos are taken for the feature.
