I can’t tell from the pic but were you able to mount those directly to th ceiling or did you have to hang them from chains?

I used these Pendant hangers. They have 2 holes in them at the top (as well as the larger, round hole) and I used those holes to drive a screw through. Simple and looks great.

I also like the idea of swapping out a 7 dollar bulb when they go bad. I’ll have to stick with the 4’ fixtures.

5 year warranty on these.

LED emitter strips (same as in the bulbs you'll need) are very inexpensive in a long roll and simple to replace, but I get the thought process. Same path I was on until Platonic educated me. Happy with my choice. Hope you'll be pleased with yours.

8 of the linked fixtures, but lumen output is really too high for 10ft ceiling.
12 of 80W 10400 lumen (link) would be much better.

With 13’ ceiling , how do I determine whether to buy the 4ft max lite or the 80w 10400 lumen highbay ?

I’m kind of lost on all this. It’s a new shop build 30x33x13 all with steel sided. Price is a factor but cheap isn’t always the answer.

I finished up the lighting this morning and wanted to post some pics. I can say without a doubt these Maxlite and GLL combo is a great setup. Both are very well made with quality material and design.

I only had one little issue and one big realization.

The issue was one tombstone had the white wire not seated in the push in connection. One bulb didn’t work so upon opening it back up, the wire was out. I just pushed it in and seated it and problem solved. Out of 22 wired tombstones was very acceptable to me. And it was a simple fix.

The realization is, now I am 100% gonna have to do the floor! [emoji23]

REALLY happy with them. They are definitely brighter and whiter than the costco fixtures I have.
The people at ProLighting were really great too!
I had a small issue with the box being damaged by the shipper. I was missing couple pieces and they sent me replacements right away. Great communication via email and a very timely response had me hanging my lights in a couple days.

I second the kudos for Platonic Solid and Prolighting.com. I learned a ton from PS and with the Dialux software (I think PS is where I heard about it) I was able to feel confident what I was ordering was exactly what I wanted, seeing the numbers and the actual light pattern.

The pic from lightup.com shows the pendant hanger as an enclosure. Did yours come with the two end panels?

Would anyone know if that enclosure would be suitable as a junction box?

Yes, the come with the end panels to make it into a box. I'd assume that's the purpose...to make it an electrical enclosure, but you'd have to ask an expert.

Thanks, I assume you added the power cords? Was there enough wire inside of the light fixture to pull it out thru the top of the light if you wanted to make an electrical connection inside of the pendant box?

Yes, I added the cords and there is plenty of wire inside....probably a foot...to do whatever you'd like.

Just made the last lighting purchase for my garage and wanted to pass along another good customer service experience from Bee's Lighting. My lighting will be the Maxlite 4-foot fixtures (recommended here) down the sides and high bays down the peak. I'll post a pic when they're all installed.

I called Bee's and spoke to Chris in the sales dept. I told him I wanted 4 of the Diva 110w linear high bays, and asked a couple of questions. He obviously knew the product and was able to answer my questions. I then told him I was looking at other suppliers that also seem to be selling the exact same light under different brand names. He agreed that they are probably all made in the same factory in China. I told him the light was cheaper elsewhere and asked for a price break. He immediately lowered the price to $99 per light. I also ordered a box of LED tubes. When he was finishing my order, he knocked another $10 off without me asking for any additional discounts. As others have mentioned here, even though the free shipping banner on their web site states that items over 42" long are excluded, shipping was free on my order.

My nine 2’ 80 watt lumegen fixtures came today. I also ordered the 9 mounting brackets for $2 a piece. Come to find out each fixture came with a bracket then I got the 9 that I paid extra for in a seperate box. So I now have 18 brackets and 9 lights. I am not sure if the fixture was suppose to come with the bracket or if it was a mess up with the processing department.

My other question is about the wiring. These fixtures have 5 wires. A black, white, green, purple, and grey. The black, white, and geeen are obvious. But what are the purple and grey for? I assume one is for the dimming maybe the other for another 110v since these are 220v compatible? I only plan to use the white, black, and green as I don’t plan on dimming them. I did not see any wiring diagram on the website or in the box they came in.

I am going to wire a plug to these fixtures on Wednesday when I am off. Then get them installed. Thanks for all the help.

The purple and gray are for dimming. If you are not going to use them just leave them unconnected (insulated). The 110/220 volt is automatic, no need to do anything.

I had to find a 1200W rated switch to handle my 990W for 6 165W fixtures. Doesn't even get warm.

I agree about dimming, it is a very nice feature of these lights as it works very well. I am using my lights 95% of the time at about 30% output and it is more than enough.

Another thing I found weird with the brackets for these lights. The brackets that I paid extra for do not have knockouts in them (the mounting bracket doubles as the junction box). The brackets that came with the lights are identical but have two knockouts on each side. I do not know why they recommend buying the mounting brackets as the fixtures come with them and actually have the knockout in them. Below is a picture of the aftermarket cover with out knockouts and the one that came with the fixture.

You can do this much cheaper by using standard $0.50 wall switches for ON/OFF function and a 0-10VDC dedicated dimmer for dimming function. Here are a couple dimming only dimmers:
Slider (link), Rotary (link). You only need 1 dimmer to control all fixtures.

Thanks a ton to the few people that talked me into these. It was so nice only having to wire 9 fixtures. I have a good video that shows how much light they provide but I don’t think I can upload a video from a mobile device to here.

I'm going to order 9 Maxlite housings from ShineRetroFit and 18 Greentek bulbs from Green Light depot. Does anyone see anything wrong with this?

Or should I look at the housings from Bees lighting and get their Diva 5000k bulbs for 6.97?

I wouldn't go higher than 9 ft with the bees bulbs due to wider beam spread, but other than that, they're fine. Being in CT I'd be going for a higher efficiency rating, but in Iowa that's not as big a factor.
