I am not sure what to go with for heating my garage. I have a natural gas line that I could tap off of, but is it really the best option. I have a split garage because a second section was later added. The outside section, which I am finishing now is 480 sq/ft. The other side original to the house is around 400 sq/ft. There is a block wall dividing the two with one door. Would electric be a better option to install two units? I fell like with the added cost of gas I would only be able to put one unit in then have to get the heat through the door.

Gas will cheapest in long run, long term you'll spend more on utilitiy bills than heater installation.

Perhaps you could install an exhaust fan high on the wall in the heated section to circulate warmed air to the other area

The ONLY electric heat I would consider for anything bigger than a doghouse would be a high efficiency heat pump. Anything else will be so hard on your pocket you won't be able to even run it.

A gas unit heater would be tough to beat for this application. They aren't all that expensive. Even a used 80+ gas furnace would be less than half the cost to run as electric resistance heat. You could likely find one on Craigslist for $100 or less. It would require a quick check to verify the heat exhanger is still good and some minimal ducting to make it work.

There are several ways by which you can ensure warm floors even during winters. Amongst all these available options, the best heating system for any house is the radiant floor heating, installed conveniently under the floor that you do not even realize that it exists. Used since the Roman era, the invisible waves of the thermal radiation, generated through the radiant floor heating mats, heat up every object it strikes. In contrast to the vents whooshing, dust-spewing ductwork or radiators clanking, it's a silent heating system which effectively heats your house. Moreover, it is a highly efficient way of heating the interiors and increasing the comfort of the house at reduced electricity costs. Many people install other heating systems in their homes to make the house warm; these systems warm the air but not the floor. Walking on the cold floor is quite uncomfortable; hence one needs to look for measures which can keep your floor warm and comfortable during the winter seasons. The radiant floor heating is the perfect solution for this problem. Another benefit of the radiant floor heating system is that these not only warm the floor but the whole room. As a result, you can turn down the thermostat by a few degrees, thereby saving on electricity bills. Moreover, unlike the heat of an air heating system, the heat emitted through this radiant floor heating system does not dry the skin. Hence, along with making the house comfortable, it also proves to be cost-effective heating solution.
