I finally caught back up on your thread. I've been dipping my toe into detailing/polishing, but I still have a lot of catching up to do.

Long time no see. Life has been a little crazy with work and the kiddos. I have pretty much just been working, parenting, and very occasionally hitting a cars and coffee. The 02 is still in pieces but we have the headliner glued in so it should start to go back together soon. We also started on the 5 speed swap on the E9.

The lift has been a life saver, we got the 4 speed pulled in about an hour.

My wife found a cool old Timex for $5 at an estate sale, so I spend a little time cleaning it up and putting a battery in it. Its pretty sweet but a little small.

The Biergarten is going to be great this summer. It has shade almost all day and it was like 10-15 degrees cooler.

Hopefully we can get the driveshaft out to be shortened next week and maybe get the car on the road before the end of the month. The I cant wait to get it out for a cruise with the 5 speed and z3 short shifter.

They are listed on C-list New Hampshire. Barn finds that were put away and recently unearthed. The 02 comes as a pair and the E9 is sold already.

Yeah New England was and still is a big BMW market. I would not be surprised if Vintage Sports & Restoration purchased it and did the work. Mario is a fan of these but cringes about them since they so prone to rust.

It's all in how the cars are treated. Here's a photo from VSR when a bunch of us were dropping our cars off for winter storage. These are mostly lifelong New England cars, including mine at the end, and there isn't a rusty pig in the bunch
Good point, as I’m sure it takes great care to keep them that way because of the reputation these cars have for rusting. It just looks like the two cars in the photo didn’t get any special treatment.Great updates - I can't believe how much the kids have grown!

The e9 is almost there, we are playing with some jetting to fix the stumble off the start and at 2500-3000. We got the off the start stumble fixed but we are waiting of some larger jets to come in tomorrow hopefully. I decided to leave the 02 in the shop with my dad so I could drive the Wagoneer for a little bit. My dad shot me a text a couple days ago and said, "has your seat always been this uncomfortable?" I said, "yea, the horse hair is gone so its just flat." About 2 hours later I got these pics.

Thankfully I sell memory foam at work so I grabbed a 1" thick piece of medium and some other parts and dropped them off on the way home. The next day he sent another text saying that the seat frame was cracked and he was going to weld it. He hasnt welded in a long time............ But it will stick.

I had to drop some more parts off yesterday. The driver's seat release to access the rear never worked, and apparently the cable was missing. Grabbed some 1/16 galv and some swage parts and after a couple attempts, its looking good.

Its almost back together, but the seat has had an unexpected reclining issue. Basically, if I lean back a little too hard the seat will recline itself one click. Over the next day or so, hes going to look at that and see if we can fix it, worst case I can take parts off a spare seat.
I have also ordered tune up parts and I think we are going to spend some time freshening it up. It seems like a good time now the the e9 is pretty much there.
What is the 2 wire connector for underneath the Jeep seat?

That's the 2002 seat, its for the seat belt warning.
Saturday was the 1 year anniversary of the tornado. While we are back to normal, and honestly the house is better than before, there are still several people in our neighborhood still out of their house. Its crazy to think about how close we came to losing our home with two babies. Saturday night I had some neighbors over and we chilled by my fire pit and just talked about the last year. It was great time and good to see them.
Ok, back to stuff people care about.
Last week, my dad buttoned up the e9. He got the interior back together, and installed the new shift knob. Thankfully we found one that was identical to the old one that had the correct mounting for the z3 shifter.

I rarely do, but when I get a chance to walk around, I stop and talk to the other manufacturers there and occasionally take in the air show itself. We have a schedule that we have, where someone comes to swap out with you at a specific time since we usually have multiple displays.

I came home to a little surprise last night. Now that the twins are super mobile playing outside with them is a little difficult. Herding cats, comes to mind. The last time we tried resulted in tired parents, and a couple boo boos, we had to contain them. Anyway, that's a long way of saying that we got a fence.

They are putting the gates in today, and hauling the old shed off Sunday. I havent been a fan of chain link but the aluminum style fence that I wanted was extremely expensive. I think this will work and I am excited to get the back yard cleaned up and hopefully get some grass growing again.

I'm not a fan of chain links in front yards, but they're the way to go in the back. Cheap, durable, and the posts make for great BB gun targets.

Cheap depends on your area, we paid $1800 to have our backyard fenced in, and it was only 60ft of fence. I do not know how to do fencing, so it was the easiest option.

Great progress reports on the E9. That car just looks better and better every time I check in.
You'll love having a fenced area for your kids. Both my kids love getting out and running in our yard, and not having to chase them around it great. Just sit back with a beer and watch them go.

Screw the cost, its WAY less MAINTENANCE than the wood fence. I Hate wood fences.

Been a while, but I survived the airshow. I didnt do too much last week, the airshow takes it out of me so I just relaxed and hung out with the kids after work. While I was gone, they came and tore down the old shed. That was officially the last of the tornado damage. Hof dog signed it off..

I am going to get another shed, but likely smaller and I will probably put it over by the biergarten. It would be nice to have storage for kids toys and random stuff.

And after sitting for a few weeks in my dads shop, I didnt leak a drop of anything. I think its ready for the vintage. I gave it a quick rinse Sunday morning since it was covered in pollen.

Can't remember if I had mentioned before, but if time permits, there are a couple cool breweries close to the museum. 13 Stripes is a cool spot, an The Southern Growl has great food and is a super cool place to hang out.

I have been to both, they are great. We will hit Greer in the morning for the meet and then head to the host hotel in Asheville. Glad to hear the 5 spd conversion went well. Car probably cruises along at lower rpm and gets better MPG's now as well. Plus a quick down shift keeps in power band for passing.

Long time no see.... Life has been pretty wild lately with the twins and work so I havent really done anything in the garage except for parking in it. I did have the vintage trip this weekend so I dusted off the wash bay and gave the e9 a quick detail.

The trip was so much fun, that I hardly took any pictures. I did get a few snaps of these guys that put a turbo on their 2002 in the hotel parking lot. This is what the Vintage is about. There are a ton of high end cars there, but the heart of the show is hanging out with new and old friends.

The car was great except for a couple of small issues, mainly a intermittent stumble/hesitation. We bought a used coil from one of the vendors and that seemed to help but about 2 miles from home it popped up again. Other than that and the AC needing a recharge the ol' gal was pretty flawless. I need to clean it up tonight and then we can start on some of the little issues.
