Great garage you have. We actually discussed to convert our basement to a garage, and my garage as an extension on the house, but decided to keep it as it is now. Mainly because I am afraid of smell from welding, painting etc going up to the house

I have my recently purchased vintage vice on the floor here. Purchased from a tool warehouse in Connecticut with the plan to restore/paint but it arrived missing chunks. My vise search continues once I get the refund/return sorted out.

Love the optimized use of space - the first page pics don't seem to load but would enjoy seeing how far you've come. Looks like a comfortable workshop to do your own thing.

I had a one thing leads to another moment earlier tonight. I noticed that the top of my work bench was getting a little beat up so I put another coat of paint on it.

Since I already had a brush with black paint on it I decided to toss some paint on the pvc drain pipe. I will probably paint the hooks black when I put another coat on it.

And since I was painting I put a coat of white on another section of wall, I was about to put a second coat on but I ran out of paint.

Nice work on that basement. I agree with a previous statement that I would have left as much of the raw brick as possible--it adds the vintage industrial feel. The back wall could have been a feature with diagonal M stripes through the center (which I still think you should do). Great job on the rest of the house too!

Is that a fake tree in the living room? Replace that with a fiddle leaf fig and you'll be stylin!

I would have loved to keep the whole basement brick but that green sealer had to be be covered. I was actually talking to my dad the other day and out of the blue he said "you know I have a sand blaster that probably would have cleaned the green off those walls pretty easily." I wish he had brought that up about 6 months ago. But I honestly think its going to look great once I get the floor done. As for a real tree, it would be dead in a week.

I tossed a second coat on the previously painted section of pipe.

And then started to paint the rest of it.

It still needs another coat. I stopped where I did due to a pending bathroom remodel in the next few months. No point in painting pipes that could be moved or torn out in the next little bit.

Makes the pipe work look high end and almost stylish, heh. Would be kinda cool if you painted the hangers red, but I don't know if that might not be too much red... but probably also too much work for the result haha

I was looking at it last night and thought about doing red arrows on it to indicate the flow direction. It would be a total waste of time but would look kinda cool.

I picked up a few items today for the shop.

A rolling stool because it was cheap.

And because I'm running the heater and about to start doing some welding I figured this would be a good addition.

I haven't done too much lately in the shop this week because I was prepping for a trip to the tail of the dragon. I can post some pics if anyone is interested.

Most certainly! Is there any snow there and if so, do they close parts? I'm in southern Maine and we don't have much snow here yet.
BTW, Huge fan of the e36! I too have a few... '99 e36 M3, '04 e46 M3, and most recently a '13 e70 X5 as the daily.

There was a little bit of snow on the skyway but it was still open.

So I left my house Friday around 3:30 and arrived at my hotel around 8:45 due to traffic and a detour involving a random *** drive through christmas light display in the middle of no where on GA60. My luxury accommodations.

Honestly, it was a decently nice room and the people were very nice. I slept great and woke up around 8am and got down to the car around 8:30, it was a little frosty.

Once the car thawed out I headed toward the gap and at the first scenic stop I was greeted by one of the most beautiful morning views I have ever seen.

I also stopped to take a dam picture.

The roads getting to the dragon were amazing, and I couldnt wait to get to the shops at the beginning of the tail to take a breather and get myself ready. They were closed, oh well I still stopped for a look around.

My co-pilot started getting a little cranky, but I decided it was time to head up and his moral improved.

I did a run up, set the go pro up on the windshield, and headed down. About a mile or so in I got stuck behind a Buick driven by an old couple that wouldnt let me pass, and on top of that cut every corner. I am in the process of editing that video. Once I made it down to the bottom and reset and did a run up, more on that later.

Once I arrived at the top I stopped for a few minutes to shoot some pics.

I had enough sight seeing for a while so I started the car to head down and just before I set off an Sti came blowing by. In my excitement I gave chase with out starting the Gopro. He was fast to say the least, I think he had been there before. I was a bit low on fuel so I decided to head to the gas station and go drive the skyway. On the way, more photo ops.

I got fuel and some waters and headed up the skyway. 2600feet.

4480 feet..

I pushed on a little bit more despite what the roads had in mind.

And I must say it was worth it.

I did get one of the videos loaded up to youtube, it sure as hell felt faster than it looks in the video.

Its a factory Dinan S1, it has a Dinan serial number. The S1 was intake, exhaust, and springs with koni shocks. The Konis have been replaced with bilstein hd's.

No salt and the dragon was clear. Higher up on the skyway I bumped into some snow but nothing too bad.

They typically don't salt/brine roads up here unless it's the day before a forecasted bad storm. Probably only 3-4 times a season.

Nice pics of the mountains! I've yet to go to that particular road, and right now, I'd probably just block traffic. (Goofy old car, and I'm not a fan of going hard on public roads.) With a better car, I might be tempted. With a better car with lots of horsepower, I'd be verrrry tempted.

I am getting very close to finishing the brick painting. I painted a second coat on this section of wall last night.

And hung my fire extinguisher.

I like the placement, its central in the shop but out of the way.

Tonight I painted around the sink.

What a pain and it needs another coat. I am happy that I am almost finished painting, but now I am thinking about doing a light gray or something on the bottom half of the wall. Its almost too much white, maybe a brick color?

Oh and while sitting in a meeting at work today I picked up this vintage sign to hang near the extinguisher. It will be hard to miss it.

I like the progress in there. A ton of work but its well worth it. I'm confused by your sign statement, did they give it to you or you thought of getting one while you were at work? Either way another great addition that fits in really well.

Where did you find that BMW sign? Was it a local find or somewhere online? If online, can you provide the link?

Father in law had a e38 740 and I never saw someone have to put more money into a car. The M5 has been one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. (knock on wood) Daily driven it since I bought it and it has never left me stranded. I think I have had a total of 3 CEL's in that time. Just normal maintenance and taking care of it. I wrench on it myself, so the prices aren't much different then any other car. Mods are pricey, due to the lower production numbers. Secret is finding the right one. I ended up flying out to Colorado and with my dad and road tripping it home when I bought mine.
