I bought a Craftsman cart off ebay for about $63 delivered, new in box, and love it. There's no point in paying retail for Craftsman, and ... ooh, it's on sale right now!



Craftsman 31" 2-tray service cart, model #59238, $79.99 knocked down to $66.49.

Man, i feel conflicted now.

I have one of these Craftsman 2 shelf carts that a buddy gave me (new in the box).

I put it together and dropped a Miller XMT350 CC/CV (~80 pounds?) on the bottom shelf, and a bunch of electrode tubes on the top shelf... I just feel like it isn't sturdy enough. When you go to push it it just seems to flex & sway ALOT...

Maybe part of the problem is the wonky *** casters it comes with?

I was going to hack it up and add some stringers/gussets/something, but have hesitated a bit because I don't want to minimize any more access to the lower shelf than i have to because the XMT350 is a snug fit to get in/out.

I was considering trying out a red HF cart... But i don't know.

Maybe some GJ'ers have modified this craftsman cart a bit and i can steal some ideas.

This isn't my thread, but I am the guy who jabbers about shop service carts to people who have none, so here's my response:

1) sounds like you need a cart for your welder. I've heard it's the first thing people do after buying a welder and learning to weld

2) I am certain that the HF cart is a flexy flyer by comparison!

3) I don't think it's your casters, just the amount of weight in it. But since this is GJ, there's nothing you can build that can't be rebuilt stronger and better! Maybe some box section or even mere angle iron underneath the bottom floor, maybe a small perimeter frame around the bottom with mounting bases for better casters, etc etc, and maybe some gussets for the 90 degree joints between legs and "drawers."

I'd build the welder cart and then use the shop cart to put tools and parts on when messing with things.

Made a real mess in the garage, this was about halfway through cleaning it.

Well kind of a sad thing happened last night, one of the residents of my garage moved out last night. It was a little bit of an ordeal getting it to the 18 wheeler.

I think its going to eventually end up in good hands, I think the buyer is going to ship it internationally. Oh well, I loved that little thing and had plans for it, but I need to concentrate on other things right now.

Nice cooper clubman, had one of those when I used to live in Japan. Mine had a Honda Vtec engine in it. Was way over powered with 12 inch wheels.

I picked up my new to me air compressor since my dad bought a bigger one. You can't beat free. I'm going to set up a few hookups through out the basement.



I also ordered a new electric pressure washer, I'm going to set it up just inside the garage door for detailing cars.



While I was picking up the compressor, I helped my dad with the j10.

Haven't posted in a while but earlier this week I picked up a new shop clock.





Then I did some cleaning, now it's ready to put the m3 under the knife. Its having some clutch issues.



Also if anyone has some advice on how to set my pressure washer where I can hook the hose up and start washing I'm all ears. As of now I have to pull all of it out and I would love to have an easier set up.

My planned setup is with a spigot inside the garage hooked up to a Y-valve. One end can go to a standard hose for normal tasks, with the other side of the valve going to my CR Spotless. I currently have a 2ft hose hooked to the input of the CR Spotless, and from there I will likely run another 2-3 ft hose directly into the pressure washer from the output on the CR Spotless.

As long as you turn off the water first at the spigot, and then purge the system when you are finished, you shouldn't have leaks with that setup.

I am going to have a hose reel set up off of the pressure washer, so I can simply unwind the pressure washer hose, turn on the water, turn on the pressure washer, and then be ready to go.

The current set-up and tear down time really kill my wash process, so this should be considerably better.

Well I would like to keep from putting a spigot inside the garage because I have hot and cold out side and the hose hook up is right next to the garage door. I already have a quick release for the water supply, maybe I can find one for the hose and gun and put up a hook for the gun and a reel for the pwasher hose.

Im researching reels for pressure washers and boy are they proud of those things. I like your idea and I would have to move some stuff around but I have the perfect spot for that set up. I need to spend some time down there tonight and plan it out.

Well I almost got the m3 back together the other night. I was just one pin away and.........snap. I broke a part and had to order one. So after making up several new cuss words I decided dig into the Jeep. The other day the Ac stopped working, so I took it my pops, he used to run a commercial refrigeration company. We traced it down to the evaporator. Today we started to dig in.

It was pretty obvious once the glove box door was out and I could hear/feel r134a.

Well I got the clutch pedal back in, I had to modify the replacement parts for the one I broke. Now I just need to bleed then clutch. This will hopefully be the last time I crawl under a car on jack stands, my dad is looking into putting a lift out in the hanger.







I hate laying under cars and after losing an acquaintance when his race car fell on him I like redundancy. So I have four jack stands, four wheel dollies, and a floor jack under it. I also have a spare floor jack and I won't get under it with out someone there.
