It will be worth it in the end. The extra work will give you a garage you love and can enjoy for years.

I know, and after almost a week I am right back to where I was...

But the paint seems to be sticking much better so Im confident now. I also changed up the white to a semi gloss and the shop is much brighter now.

I'm a little late to the paint peeling but here's my take on it.

The paint is not binding due to the lack of primer. I had a similar situation and had a painter friend recommend using oil based Kilz as a primer on top of the existing paint. It will soak through the latex and and bind to the sheetrock locking it all together. If this is not done, when the humidity cycles up and down the paint will likely peel.

Looking great!!

Im going to tape off the rest of the walls and do just white and gray. I think its going to look great.

My detailing cabinet showed up too, so I hope to get it put together tomorrow.

Glad to see you persevered and the result is outstanding. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to wait until my next house before I can have a garage half as nice.

Hope you weren't sweating too many bullets when you pulled that first piece of tape again.

Got a little more work done today after getting home from Caffeine and Exotics.

Taped off the rest of the walls and filled in the gray.

I put the first coat on the baseboards, and then put up some of my garage art.

Thanks guys. Its coming together finally. I need to touch up the baseboards, paint the man door and doors into the basement, build my cabinet, mount the tv, etc etc but it does feel like its getting close.

I also got my Alliance plaque today, its pretty cool. I need to find a good place to start my collection.

Alright fellas, who's near Georgia to help him finish the stripe? This is gonna bug me! :lol_hitti

:lol_hitti

The original plan was to do it all the way around but once I got this wall finished I kinda liked having it as an accent wall. I can always add it later, but with how I plan to lay stuff out most of the stripe would be covered anyway.

Remember this?

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

Well the sticker didnt stick and I scratched it up pretty bad installing it so I called a friend that works at a wrap shop..... This is a perfect example of why you should let professionals do certain things.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

It was only $20 more that the first sticker I ordered and its done right the first time. Its going to be awesome.

by mpower5266, on Flickr

Its a floor decal too, so people could walk on it and not tear it up. I know my buddy hooked me up a little but it would be worth double what I paid.

Got the audio/video portion of my garage set up last night.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I replaced the bedroom tv with larger thinner one so saved the older 36" vizio for the garage, and since my bose cinemate system wouldn't work with the new tv stand in the living room I set it up in the basement. I also added a firestick for youtube, pandora, etc etc.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I am loving it so far.

Set the table last night, its perfect.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I enjoyed a quick beer and got started on my detailing cabinet. Hof supervised.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I adjusted the door after this picture but I think its going to be perfect.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I even found a spot for the alliance plaque. I may keep them going on the side of this cabinet.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

Last but not least, my bucket dollies showed up from Autogeek. I didnt want to spend $30 on a plate to hook them together so I will probably just make one from scrap at work.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

Hopefully tonight I can get the pressure washer set up where I want it and start organizing the detailing cabinet.

Small updates from last night. Moved the air compressor in but I may not leave it here.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

And then got my pressure washer set up, and installed the quick disconnect for my garden hose hook up.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I need to find a cool hose holder as this will not stand. Not sure if the boss will let me install a wheel on the out side of the house so I need to do some looking.

I was thinking this as well. My OCD is kicking in.

The stripes look awesome which is the only reason I would want them all the way around. It turned out real well and the floor and wall colors match spot on. Great work.

I picked one of these up on the curb on my way to work (not sure why it was being thrown out since everything still works and it doesn't leak).

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Suncast-150-ft-Hideaway-Hose-Storage-CPLPDH150/206494905

It's pretty awesome because it has a very high hose capacity and a notched spindle which moves the hose from side to side while it is being spooled. I'm finding that it works better with a heavy duty hose which is less likely to impede water flow since the hose is less likely to get compressed when spooled. I have a 50' medium duty hose in there now and prefer to unspool the whole hose for my new pressure washer and it hasn't been annoying yet. I may throw in a bag of sand to weigh it down.

I am done painting!!!

Thanks for the kind words though, I will probably install some aluminum on the wall in the pressure washer corner, Im worried about the drywall getting wet.

Get one of the storage pots and put it there, easy, cheap, looks good, not permanent. One of these deals, for now at least.

I like that but I worry about snakes curling up in it. :lol_hitti

I had one of those, it seemed like I just dragged it around while trying to pull the hose out. Maybe a bag of sand or something would help that though.

That hot/cold outdoor setup is one major perk. ;) I anted up for the Griot's Garage hose reel. Pricey, but after about 10 years, the finish has held up and still looks almost like new. Heavy enough to stay put when the hose is pulled out.

Edit: just checked and Griot's no longer sells them. Looks like Eley mfg for the aluminum hose cart: https://www.eleyhosereels.com/colle...cSMLpBnSgKrxblAKX4OVmyveRDuj0FaBoCDxMQAvD_BwE

You may need to wrap yours in bags to prevent rust from falling out of them though. Mine sits over a dirt patch between the house and sidewalk. Wouldn't want anything to blemish your new exteriors.

Thanks for the kind words and glad you checked out the thread.

So the wife and I made a rule when we started this project that she could have a portion of the basement area for antiques but they need to be organized and not in the garage area. So heres the mid mod bedroom set she bought Sunday. :lol_hitti

We are going to clean it up and make a tidy little profit so I hope they aren't in my way long. I also came across a great deal on a stop light on the facebook marketplace so I finally got with the seller and picked it up last night.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

Not sure if I am going to keep it or not but it was cheap and hard to pass up. It even works.

Untitled by mpower5266, on Flickr

I also picked up a drip tray from work to put under my pressure washer to catch any water. Not worried about the floor as much as the baseboards, I think I will have to put some rubber trim in that corner at least.
