How many miles/hours to the CCA event? As good as your 02 is you should make it no problem, but good luck and most of all have fun!
Don't make the wash bay coin operated!

Love the idea of the wash bay. Cars looks really good as well as the garage!

Oh hell yes! I am all aboard that train! [emoji577] chooo chooo

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Its a pipe dream at this point but I'm going to start with some concrete quotes. It would be nice to just have covered parking for my wifes car, the wash bay would just me a bonus.

What happened on the outer edge of the foot well.

I'd love to have a covered wash bay. It's so hot here in the summer with the direct sun making washing a car a spring. Good luck getting ready for the CCA Foundation event!

That is actually the fender well if you are referring to the dent on the right side of the photo. Im not sure to be honest, there is no other body damage so they either ran something over that dented the fender or they just hit it with a hammer. :lol_hitti

Its about 3.5 hours there on Friday, once we are there I am going to be at the performance center all day until we go to the hotel that night. We will probably uber to dinner that night just to save wear and tear on the car and you know..... Then the next morning I have a plant tour at BMW and then hanging out at the foundation museum until 9pm or so, then we head about a hour over to Clemson to stay the night. Sunday morning we will hang out in clemson and then head about 3 or so hours home. Its going to be rough on the old gal but I think she will make it.

Did some measuring tonight and I had to make some adjustments on the wash bay, not sure its going to work. Because of the windows on the side of the house my max roof height can only be like 10.5' and if I follow code for the roof pitch it would drop down to 7.5' at 20'. Plus I would need some sort of beam at the entrance. Im still messing with it but I did a sketch up drawing of a 16' wide lean-to, not up to code a minimum roof height at 8.5' at the end not attached to the house. I also extended the slab to the end of house so I could build a 3'x6' roof with a sliding door to house the pressure washer and supplies. It needs a lot of tweaking but Im not sure its going to work.

How about sloping your roof from front to back instead of right to left? You could pot a trench drain at the rear and slope your floor too, gaining a few more inches of clearance.

I have actually scrapped the whole lean-to idea. I am working on another rendering, that I hope to finish this evening.

I like the lean-to idea, but can't wait to see what your new idea is, it's sure to be brilliant. And it's also something I've been thinking about for my next house/garage.

Id suggest a good carport, but thats not your style. I also agree with the roof slope front to back instead. Cant wait to see the next rendering.

I was thinking a roof line that matches the second floor roof. The peak would be between the two windows. I suspect you have something even better in mind.

Nothing better.... thats exactly what I was thinking...

I have to rework the "room" I built because it would block a window so I may have to center it or move it some where else. Im still playing around with that.

I was having trouble with cable in the master bedroom and the deck so we called the cable company over the other day and they had to move some stuff around to make it work. We have wireless receivers and they have a repeater or range extender for this half of the house and it needed to be moved to the garage. The cable guy did a decent job hooking it up but it needed to be organized, so I tightened up the wires and put up a floating shelf.

Hope you got some goodies for Christmas. Recovering from being sick all through the holiday. They reaired your section on MotorWeek last weekend so I was thinking of your 2nd or 3rd beer.

I saw it again yesterday, it made me go to the gym for a hour right after.

The rain finally stopped in Georgia so I gave some of the cars a much needed wash. I started by rinsing off the 02, have I mentioned how much I like beadmaker?

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Its looking like rain the weekend of my trip so I may not drive the 02... I am holding out hope that I can drive it up though.

After that I gave the Jeep its first wash in weeks, its been raining almost constantly since before Christmas.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I even cleaned the interior and treated the painted surfaces and wood grain with beadmaker....

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And then gave it an oil change. I need to get a new oil catch can, this Harbor Freight POS leaks horribly. Its out of their 90 day warranty so they won't help. Im thinking about filling it up, taking it to the store, and leaving it.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I also gave my moms ride a wash. It's been a while since I washed it last so it was really dirty, but I am happy how it came out. I also topped it with beadmaker.

I have also worked on the wash bay project a little. I am waiting on a quote back from the company my dad got his building from, for a 20x20 carport. I would still have to pour a new slab but the carport style building would save a lot of time, but Im not sure how I would house the pressure washer.

Crazy busy week/weekend. Friday I had a friend over while our wives had a girls night. We just hung out in the garage and drank some beers. I did end up moving my deals gap sign into the new garage.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Did I mention we drank a few beers? Hof ended up in the trunk...

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

On Monday night my Clemson Tigers won the natty and had the first 15-0 season in modern college football history. Naturally Saturday we made the drive up for the celebration.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

We had a blast but with the impending 02 drive I had to get some work done Sunday. So early Sunday morning I put the 02 up on the lift for one more one last check, everything looks as good as its going to get.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Then the real fun began. I went for a little tractor ride.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Then got stuck.... Mom was upset.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

But it was worth it in the end because we are finally going to get started on Project Bubba.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I had to give Bubba, the tractor, and the driveway a good wash with a pressure washer. It was quite a mess.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And here it is, finally in the shop. I'm hoping it won't take too long to get it going but we need to button some stuff up on the Wagoneer first. We bought an original looking radio with bluetooth that is going to be great.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

This week is going to be all prep for the trip. Fingers crossed that the 02 makes it there and back safely.

I made the trip to SC and back this weekend. We put almost 600 miles on the car with no issues. Here are way too many photos from the trip.

Met up with my buddy Mike to make the drive up early Friday morning.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Later we met up with our buddy Tat in his prototype M6 for breakfast.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Then the real fun began.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I started off with some hot laps in the new M5. This thing is unreal.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

IMG_6509 by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Then some autocross laps in the M240. A little more affordable and almost as much fun as the M5.

IMG_6560 by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And some random shots from the performance center.

A very rare Frozen Black M5 Competition.

After we drove a little, the BMWCCA brought out some 2002 race cars for some demos.

And I met the Stig....no big deal right?

Friday night we left the performance center, grabbed some dinner, and checked out the local color. We found a great little brewery in Greer that we ended up going back to Saturday afternoon. Check out 13 stripes if you are in Greer.

The ubered over to Pour Sports. Average bar but I loved the name, I had to buy a koozie.

Upon returning to the hotel, we discovered this lovely little 1600. The owner bought it new.

Then it was up early for our plant tour, but first we walked through the Zentrum.

Sadly, we were not allowed to photograph the plant tour but it was awesome and I highly recommend it. It was very cool. After the tour I took some pics of the Atlanta 02 crew that drove up in front of the Zentrum. All three cars together drew a little bit of a crowd.

After that we did a little exploring. A group of us drove down to Greenville in pouring rain to get BBQ. Well worth it.

31886182017_e45bdf763d_b.jpgUntitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Then we cruised around Greenville for a little bit and went back to Greer for the finale festivities.

45897580595_0458aa743b_b.jpgUntitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I didn't take too many photos during the party, I was busy talking to people I "know online" but have never met. It was nice to meet a lot of these people in person. I did snap a pic of Rob, the hack mechanic, entertaining the crowd with an excerpt from his new book.

We left the party at about 9pm in 30mph wind gusts and pouring rain. It was white knuckle the whole way but we made it to Clemson Sc, about an hour or so later. We checked into the hotel and immediately found a pretzel. For some reason my wife and I have a tradition of getting a giant pretzel on every trip.

We hit a few college bars, realized we were old and tired and went back to the hotel. We woke up Sunday early, spent some time in Clemson and snapped a few pics of the car around town.

Made it back home, and stopped by my parents to pick up Hofmeister.

46767262562_2816ba9ef1_b.jpgUntitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And finally pulled back in the garage after almost 600 miles. She is going to get a much needed bath this weekend and maybe a full detail. I am so proud of this happy little car.

Looks like a great trip. Thanks for posting photos for those of us who didn't make the trip out. It's nice to see some of the Nor'Easter crowd, like Rob and Andrew, made the drive down.

Next stop: Legends and Festorics in Aug!!!

This showed up Thursday but between packing the car Thursday night and being exhausted last night I didn’t get a chance to open it. DP121 found a 2002 ad in an old 70’s Motor Trend and sent it to me. It’s awesome and I can’t wait to put it up in either my cube at work or in the garage.

Nice trip to Spartanburg I had one of my guys over there at the end of last year on a project, he caught all the snow they had.

The M cars are such awesome machines, the M2 competition pack car is something else and that's before you get to the M3 cp's. I took one down the autobahn outside Munich at 260 km/h last Febuary for some strange reason you really start to concentrate whats coming up ahead in the distance haha

Got it put up in my cube today. If I have to be stuck here I might as well have cool stuff to look at.

That's impressive. Has he rebuilt it at all? It looks flawless in the pics.

Obviously you need to speak with her about the part of marriage where you are always each other's accomplice when stealing things that you want more than the museum currently displaying them ;)

We hit a few college bars, realized we were old and tired and went back to the hotel. We woke up Sunday early, spent some time in Clemson and snapped a few pics of the car around town.

My wife and I have made this conclusion as well. We'll get a night away from the kids, head out to somewhere we used to go all the time, and quickly realize we're now the oldest people in the room and that we actually don't like noise, or people, or leaving our house where we can stay in pjs and watch movies.

Looks like you had a lot of fun though - I definitely need to check out the BMW plant.

If the Vintage fell one more month later I would attend this year, so wanted to go last year as it was 30Th anniversary of US release of the M3. Tough working somewhere you don't get PTO till after you work there for two years.

Looks like a was a awesome event.

I think the 1600 is all original. And my wife and I have a running joke where I tell my wife to "put it in your purse" when I see something I like. Most of time it wont fit in her purse.

A week or so ago I ordered a wall cabinet from Home Depot since my stand up one is full. Friday it came in so I picked it.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Then I cleaned up the 02 for a cars and coffee meet at a classic car dealership about an hour away...... this was just half of the warehouse. It was insane.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Saturday afternoon I got the NBC sports app going on my firestick and let the 24 hours of Daytona play while I put my new cabinet together.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

We had some friends coming over Saturday night to hang out and the guys almost always end up hanging out in the garage, since it was going to be cold I broke out the heater. With the insulation and the insulated door it jumped from 58 to almost 70 in about 40 minutes.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Sunday, I put the cabinet up. Now I need to fill it.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I may mount my blower on the wall between the two cabinets. It looks like it has a place on the bottom designed to hang it from the wall. I hope it works, it would make it look really clean.
