Looking back to post 1,475 here, I was shocked last year that the three of us had the same birthday. lol. I'll try to remember a head of time for 2021 :)

If you can not find a leak, then focus on the Schrader valves. It's less obvious because "of course" there will be dye on them... right? Plus, they only cost $0.30 each if they are removable.

We have checked everything. Even stranger, I was at a show 2 years ago and as I was leaving I stopped to say bye to a friend. While the car was idling it started spraying 134 out of the passenger front fender well. I parked the car and tried to see where it was coming from with no luck. It had dye in the system so I took it to my dads shop and we checked it with the light, there was only a faint trace in the fender well. The car sat for a couple days and I jumped in it to go somewhere and the A/C worked great. It actually worked great until a few weeks ago when we evac'd it and refilled. I think the compressor clutch is going so the A/C will probably get a revamp soon but summer is almost over so it may wait until spring.

I think I will honestly be as surprised next year as I have been the last two. Haha.

They weren't sold in the US. They are now within the 25-year range so importing them will be possible. I bought an Alpina B6 Touring last month in Japan but it has to be stored until it hits the 25 year mark next year ('97 model).

E36 Tourings are generally really cheap in Europe (for now) - though I'd imagine finding a rust-free example with manageable miles would be a decent amount of work. Still - the body style is so dang cool.

Wow, didn't know you didn't get them.
I guess I can't complain about all the cool cars that were imported to Argentina in the 90s. Then it all wen to sh!t

Yea we didn't get e36 wagons for some reason. In the early to mid 90's it seemed like wagons were fairly popular so kind of a strange move, we got the 5er wagon at that time. A lot of people are bringing them in so I am hoping to pick one a few years from now where everyone is on to the next thing.

Speaking of e36's, I went out to work on the lip last night and I think I found the problem.

It is pretty badly warped, no matter what I did I could only get one side to fit the bumper correctly. I emailed Turner motorsports last night, and I hope they will send me another one thats not warped. As you can see in the video, its pretty bad.

Again I am hoping they will make it right. In other news the undercoating has been applied.

Next step.

I hope for a major update today.

Umm... how is it that your garage is cleaner than my kitchen?

My garage is pretty much only for parking, detailing, and drinking beer with friends. I do all the heavy work at my dads shop. Hes an aeronautical engineer and an A&P so he makes me clean up when I am done.

What color is the E9 going to be???

Back to factory. Nachtblau metalic.

I should have more E9 pics today...seriously, there are going to be way too many E9 posts.

In the mean time, here some grilling **** to hold yall over. Haha

Since my bday was yesterday and I had a gift card to my favorite beer/meat shop, I stopped on the way home and grabbed a steak. I started by seasoning with salt and pepper and let it reach close to room temp while I got the BGE set up.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Got the egg set to about 215 and tossed the steak on to cook to about 105 internal.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I pulled it, and then set the egg up for direct high temp cooking. Once it hit 600-700 I tossed the steak back on for about 2 minutes each side. I pulled in, let it rest while I grilled some corn, and just before slicing I tossed what my butcher friend calls baby making butter on it.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Sliced it up, and down the hatch. Chased it with a little EH Taylor. All and all it was a great bday meal.

Anyone else having issues getting on the site? It keeps timing out on my work computer. Anyway I went and checked on the e9 last night and it is going to be a looker when it's done.

I also changed out the crystal to a small anti reflective dome and the chapter ring in my 009 Seiko. In the process, my new bezel insert popped out and cracked, super glue isn't not what to use to put these in. I have a new one on order. I am enjoying playing with this watches, it's kinda like a zen garden for me. I just sit at the desk, put some music on and consentrate.

If you were not aware TMS does not exist anymore as we knew it. It's just an extension of ECS They bought the rights to their web page and name for the parts side. They also bought BAV if I remember correct.

The TMS race team is still in Amesbury I pass it from time to time when heading to NH or Maine.

Yea, I know. I try to order everything from FCP because I have had issues with ECS and heard the horror stories. The problem is that this is made by Turner so it was my only choice. If the second one doesn't work, Ill just scrap the idea and put it back to stock.

I've had success with ordering oils and brake fluids through ECS. But I have heard horror stories from others. Think I also ordered an upgraded radiator for the E92 from them last year also when I did an overhaul of the cooling system.

I have never had any trouble with ECS but what I read about their management by the investment fund that is a them is disappointing. I liked Bavauto because it was less than an hour away and open Saturday mornings, but it’s gone and Turner that was not much further away is gone. I tend to order mostly from FCP Euro, which is a few hours away. I first started buying from FCP about 20 years ago when it sold a lot of Volvo parts. AutohausazAZ is also on my list and sometimes getbmwparts.

Funny with all this Turner/ECS and FCP talk, I remembered an email I had with FCP when I had a small issue with my order.

I fooled around with my mount for the grille badge on the e9. This was a rough concept for the back plate.

by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I flipped it around and it looked good. Then I realized the grille was upside down and no matter what I did with the back plate I wouldnt look right when flipped. Ill try again this weekend.

by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Since I failed on this, I decided to clean up the grille a little and polish the alum up a little on it. It still needs some work on the black plastic, I will probably use solution finish and coat it.

Hopefully the car will be home soon.

Oh that's nice. I bet you're excited to start protecting the paint, but I assume you have to wait for it to cure first? I have no idea. It looks really good, congrats.

Its ready now according to the paint guy. We saved a few bucks by wet sanding it ourselves, so I am going to get started on sanding and compounding this week. I may wait on the polish and protection until is almost ready for the road.

Looks great, man. I’m sure you’re ecstatic to finally have it home. Can’t wait to see more progress shots as you start to correct the paint.
