The Bully Barrow, is the result of new TSC wheel barrow,
that lasted only about a year.
The only thing, that was salvaged was the rims and tires.
This one should last a little longer. :)
Its made from recycled Yamaha shipping crate stock.
16 ga so its quite lightweight, the white oak weighs more than the steel.

Its made to dump.

Door folds against the side, so its out of the way while dumping.
04.jpg

Hinges wrap around, to keep the door from pulling a hole in the thin-wall tube.

After sandblasting and some paint.
The lettering was CNC routed.

The white oak bed, after 6 coats of Thomson's water seal.
Stainless steel countersunk bolts hold the wood down.

2-1/2" square handles were turned round on the ends.

Ready for a big load of firewood, or just taking out the garbage.
Designed for four 30 gal. Rubbermaid trash cans.

Looks awesome, the only thing I would suggest is a catch for the door on full open. I saw a bolt/bumper in the finished photos, but couldn't tell if it was a latch/catch.

That's a nice setup. Very good job! Do all motorcycles ship in those type of containers? I might head down to the local honda powersports dealer and see if I can pick up some those scrap tubes to make projects here and there. Did they charge you for them?

I think only Yamaha, and only certain models of ATV's.
No charge for any of the stock, but my friend is a mechanic who used to work
there.
I just checked Metals Depot its about a $1.36 a foot plus shipping if you buy
a 24' piece. Its 1-1/2 X 1-1/2 X 16 Gauge Square tube.
About the longest length you can get with the scrap stuff, is 6 feet,
and then you have to do some grinding and cutting.
Years ago John Deere used to ship their garden tractors with rectangular tube.
I got in on the tail end of that deal, but I know people that were using
the stuff for years.

I was going to put a catch on it, but found out it doesn't really need one,
because the hinges get tighter as you swing the door around to side.
Never been a problem when dumping at all, like to keep as simple as possible.:)

Metals depot is cheap except their shipping makes it almost impossible to get cheap metal. The shipping cost is more than the metal.

Its outrageous if you only want one stick but if you get a lot
of metal then its not to bad. (for an online metals house anyway)

I have quite a pile of that Yamaha shipping metal as well. I just spent $9000 there and the salesman said "help yourself". I am making a cart and some other projects. What welding process & settings are you using? it is pretty thin stuff and I have my gun turned waaaay down and will do much more grinding than I like to do for a presentable finish.

i like it, but it wouldnt work for everything i need to do. my plan is to re-make my current wheel barrow with a poly pour tub. the tub is fine but the metal frame is rusty and the handles too low. so some 1.25 16g tube is gonna be Z'd to make the new frame with a slight up sweep on the front end. i hate hitting stuff and the lawn trying to move stuff, but im not that tall at all. so whose makin midget wheel barrows?

1-1/4" 16 ga is about right, I used the 1-1/2" 'cause it was free. :bounce:

Its mostly gas welded, with the hinges, and some of the thicker areas,
done with stick. Its almost impossible to weld the tube with a stick
without some thicker metal overlapping it.
This will probably be my last gas weld project, for a while, as I have a
new (to me anyway) TIG welder.
That tube was quite expensive after all, had to get a TIG to weld it. :lol_hitti

What would be a good price for something like this ?
Opinions please.
In the past, I had offers to take all I could build.
Aluminum would be nice, and would not have to be painted.
