I'm new to GJ and read through this entire thread. I have to say I'm in awe of everything Doug has done, and even more - shared with everyone. I find his dedication to documenting the build phenomenal. I hope he is able to continue on his dream home and that everything is alright, but regardless of the eventual outcome, I think everyone at GJ has learned an amazing amount thanks to Doug!

I'm guessing all this positive attention lead to some unwanted negative attention. It's a shame, but one of the issues with posting so much personal info on the Internet.

The Concrete might be Underground but I'm not.

The first is to let people know that I have restored the links in the Concrete Underground and that the pics are back up. I wasn't aware that Photobucket stopped letting you link to a free account. Someone mentioned to me that the pics were gone and I was saddened to see it was true. I have now upgraded my account to bring the pics back. Sorry bout that.

Secondly; While I haven't been around the GJ recently, I have often thought of the friends I made here. I wanted to let you all know that things are fine and express my sincere and heartfelt appreciation to all of you who reached out to me.

My absence started with a crashed hard drive (loss of photos) and continued thru some pretty tumultuous times. The longer I was gone, the harder is was to get back. I did manage to maintain progress on the house and garage (of course) and am currently living in the Concrete Underground. What doesn't kill you apparently does make you stronger.

Once again, thank you very much for your concern (you know who you are) and my apologies for the disappearing act. If I can get myself organized and the mods are kind enough to re-open the thread, I'll put up some photos of the progress and the (almost) finished project. Stay tuned!

In case you were wondering......Yes is was worth all the work and it is an amazing place to live. Well maybe I should have built it someplace warmer but other than that, it's pretty cool. Cheers!

Hope to see the finished (almost) product. Your build is the one that brought be to the GJ when googling stuff to get ideas and dreams.

Can't wait to see where you are at in your build journey.

Welcome back, LLWillysfan! I, much like the others, have followed your home build since the first day of your project. We’re all anticipating seeing pictures of the finished home!

LL glad to see you back! All the conspiracy theories about what could have happened to you just makes it worse. Hope all the tumultuous times are behind you and looking forward to seeing your new updates. Happy new year!

Re: The Concrete might be Underground but I'm not.

How come that the original build thread says it is "closed"?

Terrick,

The mods closed the thread when Doug hadn't posted in awhile. To my recollection, the way they left it was it was closed until such time that he wanted to restart it.

Happy New Year Doug and welcome back!
