The coolest Eifel geared plierwrench set you've probably ever seen

Thought people might enjoy seeing this. I came upon what appears to be a complete salesmans kit for Eifel geared wrenches along with the sales literature, salesman guide, demonstration pieces, and even a couple of their ef screwdrivers. Supposedly left at my grandpas by a friend of his, both of whom passed away years ago so I have no way to get any more information about the kit. The site won't allow me to post any pictures but here's links to them. It's all in remarkable shape for something made in the late 20's/early 30's. Any idea on value if I were to sell?

Very nice set you have two thumbs up(y)(y)

If you had to sell and needed the money then I would guess put it on Ebay and let the market decide the final price a collector would be willing to spend for that salesman kit.

The reason the site will not allow you to post any pictures, I think you need at least 5 posts or more.

Cool kit. Someone here (I can't remember who, but if they see this I'm sure they'll pipe up...) has the wrench and all the jaws in the canvas pouch and it had the salesman's tips in it, but I've never seen the whole kit before.

Nice collection! I've never seen the salesman kit before. I have accumulated a few and have the canvas case but it isn't in as nice condition as yours. I recently came across the pipe cutter attachments. The chrome molly version is from 1933 and the iron oxide forged are from 1953. DSC06612.JPG

It was reported in an old thread on this subject that one of the salesman's tips was to wait on the side of the road for a car to break down, then fix it with the Eifel wrench. I always got a kick out of that. If you could find that bit in one of those pamphlets, I'd love to see a photo of it.

Damn! That kit comes in exactly the sort of box I have tended to ignore, thinking it is probably photographic or some small power tool.
Is the V-clip for tube-cutting hiding in the bins of demo material?
A scan of that demo handbook would be supercool.

A bonus of these tools, I’ve found, is when I read the “Locks This Way” stamp with the devil-tail embellishment (aka arrow), a lick of Aerosmith plays in my head, full volume (and sometimes out of my mouth).

If you think I already found something beyond the pouch & bits - no.
But I have a LOT better idea what to look for, now.

?? The pouch and bits ARE the rare find, LS! Most guys (including me) have the wrench and that's it. There are very few guys with pouches or accessory jaws out there in GJ land. If you peruse the main Eifel thread (see Index) or search and peruse the straggler threads, you'll see that's true. You are underestimating your find.

To clarify, by other shoe I meant you posting your find.

Oh, yeah. I did post an expansion on the GS thread, then started searching up existing threads. This one seems the freshest, but since it started with the full-on PlieRench Man’s Selling Kit, I was thinking I’d bump the more general PlieRench thread. I guess there’s no harm doing both.

This past weekend, I added a pouch and several jaws to my collection. I did not at first recognize the GripClip, so I am very happy I didn’t leave it behind, but I wonder if the tube cutter V-clip escaped my notice.2B226271-17A4-422F-8313-47CDAE7FA3B4.jpegI now have two pouches, three Pliers, one extra wire jaw. The group at left was the most complete as found, marked 1945.

The center group is the most complete assembled, including a long pipe jaw and Grip, but lacking the V-clip. The Pliers are an earlier find, marked 1941, chrome-molly alloy.

My first (and oldest) PlieRench (at right) only has the original patent date, (so, presumably made before the December 1927 application for the 2nd patent) is generally a bit heavier.

The single jaw that was with it is likewise a heavier version of the short pipe jaw.

I think it was my grandfather’s. I’ve begun to notice that the more tools I acquire, the less I remember about each one. Hopefully, I posted something about it before.
