In my garage I used Daytona tiles, which I love.(the garage floor would have been a nightmare to prep for epoxy).
We also have a dog training business and decided to use an epoxy on a new floor we put in our training building. We used originalcolorchips.com which we have been extremely pleased with. It has been down for just over a year and has held up very well to lots of people and very tough dog claws. In addition, the customer service we rec'd while buying and installing their product was phenomenal
We are now getting ready to do the floor of the kennel area so I decided to check out their site to start looking at ordering the supplies to do the floor. I am so psyched to see they have put an interactive palette to use to try out different floor colors with different chip colors. I am having a blast with it and wish I'd had it when I did the other floor.
If you are getting ready to do an epoxy floor, take a look.

I have used something similar to this from UCoat It on their website (sorry I don't have a link) before to check colors and play around with the different colored chips on different colored floors. Just point and click. It makes it nice and give you a good idea of what the colors look like together.

I've just registered on the forums and want to let you know that I will be helping Eric at Wolverine with answering questions and providing information.
He's been covered up (his daughter broke her leg day before yesterday).

We are developing a new color chart and will post it when it's ready. Our standard colors are grey--ultra light, light, medium, dark, tan, white, black, green, blue, red, yellow, orange. We custom mix large orders and have an endless variety of colors and blends of DecoFlakes.

You can request stuff here and we can discuss our promotional pricing: http://wolverinecoatings.com/html/contacts.html

Have a very Merry Christmas!

My detached garage is nearly complete except for painting and other interior work. I too am looking for a coating to go over my cement which is relatively smooth since it was power troweled. I would not mind having someone else do the application especially since some of the coatings may be difficult for one person to apply. I’m in Charleston, SC so I assume you do work down here.

To get an idea of what I’d like in the way of the floor please reference the following link and read post #8. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6331&highlight=concrete

So GrampaBill do you or WolverineCoatings have any suggestions for me?

Have you found or tried anything. I'm in the same boat. I also would like the floor to resist chemical damage. Even some of the paints I've used will damage a finish if spilled on a painted floor.

I tested a sample of the product PremierGarage sells and it failed. I wanted to see if it would resist paint remover. It just lifted the coating right off the sample. Maybe there are no products that will resist paint remover and my test was not really fair, but it would be nice if there is some product that once cured can not be removed chemicaly.

Maybe the only alternative for people who put a floor to very hard use is just concrete with no finish. It seem that lots of the products I've found so far are more for show.

I define hard use as subjecting the floor to chemicals, dropping steel, pulling 1000 lb scissors lift, pulling floor jacks accross.

Hi Ron,

We are a manufacturer and not an installer... We do have products that will do what you want... Products that will resist paint stripper are NOT cheap. In addition, there are a ton of variables that need to be discussed and considered. I think the best thing would be for you to fill out an Information Request Form here

http://wolverinecoatings.com/html/contacts.html

so we can start discussing this. We have thousands of formulations and you don't want to use our most resistant coating because it's about $2000 per gallon and you don't need something to resist concentrated Hydrofluoric acid. So, we'll ask lots of questions to make sure you have a coating to resist what you need without breaking the bank.

The next step will be to find a qualified applicator that has time to do a small job. You may have to be a bit patient for that...

I do not use subcontractors with no experience with a particular product.

My experience has been that I can buy the best product for an application and then find that it's worthless because no one is capable of using it or working with that type of product.

I know some of the floor products are not the easiest to work with due to toxicity and pot life.

I am capable of doing the job myself but with just me working I think I would be limited to using a product with a long pot life.

So the questions are:
1-Do you know an experienced qualified applicator in my area?
2-Do you sell a product that will me my needs that I can apply myself? I'll fill out the request form you referenced it the last post.

Our products are non-toxic! Some of our products have a short potlife which we will determine when we ask/answer all the questions...

We DO know of applicators... most (probably all) applicators that use our products are booked for at least 7-8 weeks in advance. If any of them are doing projects in the Charleston area they would probably just work you in.

As far as do we have a product that is easy enough for you to use, we'll have to have our discussions first to determine the exact product for you. I kind of think we will but I want to make sure we ask all of the right questions before saying so. Some of our products for solvent resistance have pretty short pot lives but some are decent (30 minutes to an hour) where you could mix small amounts or pour it out and backroll it. All of these products are non-toxic and free from solvents or water. We won't sell you a product that we don't think you can apply.

Someone will get back to you next week on the Information Request...

Eric

That wait time is no problem. I'm not ready yet anyway. We are doing renovations to our house as well as an addition and I've been working on that. It has been mandate by the boss, (my wife) that no more work is to be done on the detached garage until the other work on the main house is completed.

I looked at the Wolverine site to see about using it for my next project (about 900 sf concrete) but couldn't figure out which product would be the one I would use. To me the site is set up for use by retailers, not end users, so I gave up.
It would be great if the site had an easy way to figure out which of the products was for a garage application, or a link to installers that had a way to look at pics.

You give up very easily. Try doing a little searching. Many things have been posted about Wolvering Coatings and also look under "Budget Bob" for the retail side of things.
