Need the correct tool to do the correct job faster and quicker.

Today was very busy at the shop and my 3 lifts were used up. I was doing a Rear Brake Shoe on the ground and spent longer than I should on trying to pop this "C" clip out. Didn't have the correct tool and it took alot of time just to do both sides. Way longer than I thought it would be. Majority of the time, it's done very quick but I just had it. I need to find the right tool to pop this "C" clip out. Mac Tools wasn't helpful. The job was done after many tries of prying it open with a flat head. Just for future jobs, I would like to have the correct tool.

It's what holds the Rear Swing Arm for the E-Brake.

Awesome thanks. It was very busy today so when the Mac Tools came by, he was just delivering my items I've ordered and collecting his payment. I asked him about it and he said he'll look into it but didn't come back to me with any update. Maybe he forgot.

Using a flat head of all sorts and sizes took awhile. On the newer cars these days that still uses Drum brakes, it seems like the C Ring are stronger made than older cars. Either that, or I was prying hard enough with a flat head.

I'm going to get me a set of those Brake C Ring Remover Pliers. I'll ask Snap On Tools about it this Thursday.

Thanks for the heads up.

My bad it was actually Mac!! Your rep *****! Here you go: http://www.mactools.com/shoponline/product/tabid/120/p-318529-brp12.aspx

I have this set and it is almost worthless...seriously its that bad. You can also buy the pliers individually ( ididnt know until after the fact)if you choose to ignore my advice. Linesman pliers always worked to close them up for me.

My advice is to get the widest pair of lineman pliers you can find. Put one side on the pin and the other side on the clip . Once you have it pushed the clip onto the pin, grab the other end (horseshoe "U" side)with a small flat head and pry it off.

I'm going to give Snap On a try and see if he has one this Thursday. He'll probably let me use it before I buy it. I still have the old C Clip after I taken it out. Going to try the plier on it and see how it goes. If it's too my likings, I'll purchase it. If not, I'll ditch it. Then I'll venture off online and see about this Linesman pliers.

I have a another Rear Brake Shoes/Drum on a SUV to service tomorrow as well. Gotta have some sort of tool that works. In the meantime, the flat head will have to do.
