After waiting 2 years to finish the updates & sell my other house I can now start my 32x28x14 garage. After 3 plan changes becuase the city tells you the wrong max sqft & height:mad: I got my permit. It will be a 3 car(1 deuce) with a 7 x 7 & 20 x 10 doors. I plan on a 2 post lift later on thats why I will have 14 ft ceilings. I bought a scissor lift to help me build becuase I plan on doing all the work myself. Here is a pic of my deuce at a 4th of July parade. The other pics are were I hide her in the trees at the end of my driveway

Had the trees cut & started to dig. You don't realize how much the ground slopes until you cut into it. I swear half of the ground was roots & then we hit a old stump the bobcat just could not get up. It put up a good fight but after we got the deuce out with it's winch helping, success

I'm as bright as I look in the picture above.
Getting started is a great feeling!

I hear ya on the ground sloping, found that out trying to find a place to put a simple 5x8 shed on our property. I found one 130' from the house... Oh well each time I walk out there to get something, I remember that I learned something that day. LOL

X...

Almost ready to pour. I had to work quick after I got home to get the pvc in for the electrical because they are suppose to finish the rebar & then get the footings inspected in the am.

Have you ever driven that Deuce to the home depot on Lawrenceville Hwy in the Decatur? Or is there someone else around who runs errands to HD in their Deuce.

Love the Deuce, always wish I had a place to store one and a use for it, if I did I'd get one in a heartbeat. Looks cool parked between the trees, but I'm sure it'll be ever better parked in the shop when its done!

I have concrete. 4000 psi 5" thick for a lift. They poured it flat except where the 2 garage doors are at, you can see the slope in pics. They also dropped off the blocks which they will start next week

I got the block waterproofed. I just installed the drain pipe around all 3 sides today. Tomorrow I get to shovel out 2 cubic yards of gravel in the back of my deuce, I don't think that will be fun

Got the dirt backfilled. I built half the back wall & stood it up with the scissor lift. With the block wall stepping down this is taking alot longer than I thought to build the walls. Oh well, atleast I'm finally starting to build:D

I picked up the back wall with the scissor lift & put it in place, very easy when you don't have to do the lifting. I built part of the side wall until the block steps down & got that lifted in place. More framing next weekend

Nice truck. Mine is a 85 M35A2C Navy Seabees. I wish mine had the factory winch, but for how pricey they are I put a electric winch on it

I know it might be weird to put the trusses up without all 4 walls but its the only way I could get the trusses in place by myself. I will build the front wall next weekend

Love the Deuce. Now that's a go anywhere vehicle.

A couple of questions. Just curious...

Why was the slab poured before the concrete block? Is the block on the slab? Never seen it that way and the later photos look like the block extends below the slab, but couldn't tell for sure. I've never seen block laid on top of a monolithic slab, but there's a lot I haven't seen... I've always seen block on a footer with the slab poured inside. What's the exterior siding going to be?

Looks like you're off to a good start.

The slab was done this way becuase it cheaper & faster. No need to pour footers, let it dry, block it & then pour the slab. The block is on the slab, they put a 1" lip so the block would sit lower to help from water going under the block & getting into the garage. It probably also helps from the soil pushing in(they did rebar & fill the block with concrete). I am putting 12" wide hardie board & batten to match my house

I can definitely see how it would be cheaper and faster. Interesting idea. I'm not sure how things are around your area, but concrete and footings were the worst part of my build. I called every concrete contractor I could find and only a couple even bothered to show up and give me a bid. The first one I lined up didn't show up when he was supposed to start. I'm not bitter though... It's all in the past now.

Hope you have good luck and progress with your build...

I found the concrete contractors were all over the place for the price & most didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. Some wanted to add dirt to make the garage slab 4 ft higher so they wouldn't have to dig into the ground & add a block wall.

Is the smaller opening for double doors or a smaller garage door?

Nevermind....I reread your first post and you mentioned a 7x7.....

Nice garage! I love to have a duece....my wife would literally $hit a brick! A neighbor about a mile from me has one in his drive. It is in a subdivision where the houses sit on top of each other....I am sure the nieghbors love it. I noticed another person on his street has one parked in his drive now. Just curious, but what is a ballpark cost for one of them?

I paid around $3200 in 2003. I got it right from the navy so no middle man mark up
