Just ordered this combo from Lowes and already having second thoughts. Let me know if you think it's a decent deal.

I have air tools but no battery tools except a Harbor Freight screwdriver and a very old Sears Professional 20V drill.

I've been wanting an impact driver and the only circular saw I own is a 50 year old corded Craftsman.

$199 for the impact driver kit and a "free gift" (I selected the circular saw).

I just recently treated myself to a bunch of Dewalt cordless tools.....the 7 1/4" circ saw is a beast....bout like having a corded one....also got the 12v circ saw....very nice haven't used the 6 1/2....probably in-between

This DeWalt 12" Cutoff saw was one of my best tool purchases of all time.

My wife and I bought our home in 1994.
It was a Major Fixer Upper ....about all that we could afford then.

We did all of the work on it ourselves and this DeWalt and my Milwaukee Super Sawzall were indispensable!

Doesn't seem like a bad deal. $100 per tool plus the batteries and charger. Just pick up a drill now and you'll be good to go.

I was thinking the same, I do have corded drills and the old Craftsman Professional 20v that still works.

I'm on a DeWalt roll though, any recommendations on a DeWalt drill or hammer drill for about $100. Any good deals out there?

There are so many models! And it's hard to tell which to choose with so many different combos.

This caught my eye because it comes with two 5.0Ah batteries which would give me a lifetime supply along with the two 2.0Ah I've got.

Whatever brushless drill matches what you have. Up to you if you need the hammer mode or not.

Hard to say because they've got so many different models between usa assembled/ brushless/hammer

The batteries are confusing. What is the difference between the 5.0Ah 20v Max XR and the 5.0Ah 20v Max XR Premium?

Prices are all over the place. The DCD996B hammer drill kit is $285 with two 5.0Ah and charger. But two 5.0Ah by themselves can be $222 and cheapest is about $79 each.

Local hardware store had the 60v trimmer kit for $170 otd during their DeWalt days promo and I've been wanting to get into the 60v system for a while.

The XR premium in your pic are 6.0 ah batteries. They're physically larger and heavier than the 5.0. Works fine but can make some tools feel a little unbalanced. I bought a two pack, don't notice a ton of difference in performance but definitely do in weight.

You can regularly find the 5.0's at about $160 for a two pack. Singles are regularly around $120 but special sale prices sometimes offer them at $79. The two battery "starter pack" at the bottom is a better deal at $149, they're actually the same DCB205 batteries as the 5.0 XR.

Kit prices can be all over due to special pricing. I've bought several of the 996 hammerdrill kits that also included a brushless impact driver, two 5.0 batteries and a bag for $299. Bought a rotary hammer kit last fall that included an impact driver, two 5.0 batteries and a bag for only $199! My local Bomgarrs always has deals, I've bought many of my bare tools there. They almost always have a special running to include a free battery when you buy a bare tool.

After way more searching than most would want to do I ordered the 996 kit with two 5.0Ah and charger for 285 from Amazon.

So I started out to buy a Bauer Harbor Freight impact driver and ended up with all DeWalt.

Impact Driver DCF887D2
Circular Saw DCS565B
Hammer Drill DCD996B
Two 2.0Ah batteries
Two 5.0Ah batteries
Two chargers
Two cases

Total $484 before sales tax.

Probably not the best deal, but won't have to think about this again for a long time.

Needed these sanders, so I took advantage of some deals at Home Depot and got some extra small batteries… And chargers, because who doesn’t need more chargers, right? 😄 These Power Stack batteries are incredibly small and light… I almost want to get another one, but I’ll hold off until they come out with the 5Ah batteries.

Part of why the powerstack Batts are so small is their capacity is really low. Compacting them to the 1.3 or 2.0's would be more fair

I have been bit by the dewalt atomic power stack bug, i like what they’ve done with the atomic line. Sometimes you just don’t need a bigger driver or saw, plus the power stack batteries look promising. Bought a bunch of tools to try them out, need to really beat them up a little to see if they are just as good. Right off the small sawzall feels much better than the hakzall, more linear, like an extension of your arm, the Milwaukee is like a counter weight. I think dewalt is really trying to develop better tools, had a rep stop by the job, we buy a lot of dewalt gave us a new tool to try out and a couple new bits. Said they have some cool stuff in the works and some old stuff they’re making better. It’s good to see some competition, forces the other brands to keep up.

Dewalt's cordless under hood light works with any of their 12V, 20V or FlexVolt batteries, is brighter than Milwaukee's (1700 lumens vs 1350 lumens) and costs less (~$171 vs ~$$200 - mine was $160 as the last couple weeks Amazon had a $12 off coupon to apply. Also, camelcamelcamel shows it's been down to $160 a couple times previously since this tool's debut in December so that might be the 'good deal' price to look for) and folds for easier storage or can be used as a stand up light. I'm just sayin'... :love: (y)

Glad to see dewalt get in the light game, Milwaukee lights are good. I have their underhood light and it’sa great light but i like what dewalt has done and will be ordering one, they added features are a nice plus. I also have the hf one which is ok for the price but the battery set up *****, great dewalt is using all voltage’s.

Now that the temperature is above 40 I got a chance to use this guy today, DCPW550:

It’s perfect for what I want it for, washing salt off of my trucks’ suspension and frame. Pieces together easily and quickly, and 15 minutes of power washing one truck only took one bar off of a 5.0 battery. It is NOT a pressure washer - as long as you acknowledge what this is and what it isn’t, I think you’ll be happy with it - I know I am.

I keep looking at it & trying to convince myself why I need it & of course it's displayed next to their job site pressure washer. I'm thinking in the camper for cleaning the sxs after riding, I'm on a dewalt kick anyway.

That sounds like a good application for it. I saw some mixed reviews on it, but when I realized all the bad reviews were from people expecting it to be a 2500 psi pressure washer, that told me all I needed to know.
