Very impressed so far on the quick flow of information provided here by the site patronage.i use a extended reach push pull feeder for aluminum welding powered by a mm 200 powersource. I run the control wires thru the lead socket on the welder which works fine other than the welder can't tell anythings changed so I need to release drive roller or hard wire will run out all the time the push pull feeder's trigger is pulled.i was told when I bought the feeder it won't work to plug control wire into the spool gun receptacle on the welder. I guess I believed this so I never tried but it never made sense why it wouldn't work. I hate to rig up something to try it in case some unknown factors might damage the circuitry. But I've been tempted. Any ideas as to what the difference between a spool gun and a xr feeder is to an old mm 200?

Depends on the welder remote connector. Do you have a 10 pin on yours. Depending on the year of welder or spoolgun , there are different possibilities.

It's an older model j I think. It's a 2 pin for the spool gun and 4 pin for the lead. When I use the feeder on my portable welder the plug isn't used at all but the wire is always hot.just never understood why it wouldn't work to use the spool gun socket to trip the relay in the welder but not the welders built in feeder.
