This post goes out to GJ member four.cycle, because I enjoy keeping him on his toes and keeping the spirit of old iron going.
I had to soak the following buggy wrench in a bath of strong chemicals for the last 24 hours just to be able to read it, good thing it is still going strong for the last 122 years or so.
Of special note I did find a grave for a Mr. George W. Eberhard, but I am not even sure if I found the right man so to speak; in my thinking it would have only made him 27 years old for starting the company and most times the men are older having learned from others and saving their money to start a business, but again it might just be the man in question?
After a long search and enough diet coke I found who made the trademark of a letter E inside a circle, which is a small feat in itself late at night, when my old eyes will not stay open.
The Story:
The Eberhard Manufacturing Company of Cleveland, Ohio started producing malleable iron castings for carriages and wagons and later automobile and truck castings along with producing buggy wrenches and a special nut wrench.
1859 The eastern Company is established in Naugatuck, CT. (Eberhard MFG. Co. (Div. of Eastern Co.)
1877 Eberhard MFG. is established in Canton, Ohio by George W. Eberhard and two other partners.
1880 The Company relocates to Cleveland, Ohio A fire from a dropped lantern destroys everything, but the company is merged with Cleveland Malleable Iron Co. under the leadership of Alfred Pope & Eberhard MFG. Co.
1908 In order to stay alive they begin to produce more car parts, (end of the buggy days).
1914 A move to help with World War I and support the USA.
Several more changes through time (Please see the links for all those changes).
2022 still going strong.
I wish I could locate a pdf of one of their catalogs for the early years and I am sure they are out there, but I could not find any on the web; you getting all this GJ member four.cycle, hint, hint hint.

A few links for on this nice night and a few pictures of a very old buggy wrench, just before the start of the automobile age of cars.
