i posted this to the big vise thread but I felt i should share here as I couldn't find anything with the search. a big shout out to rtm for helping me connect the dots with the patents.

pipe vises are kind of boring. i like unusual and this caught my eye.

there is a blurb on this company on datamp. i believe that patent 1293734 (pipe wrench) as well as an older Ducharme patent 982483 (pipe vise) apply to this vise and the pat appld is in reference to 1293734.

like i said in the original post, this vise has aspects of the 982483 pipe vise as well as 1293734 pipe wrench. it has teeth on the bottom that engage the moving jaw allowing fast size change. the rack and handle are used to tighten.
