I consider the 3d printer just as much of a hobby as the prints it makes. I enjoy working on them. And to be fair, I hadn't made any changes to this machine since replacing the 3d printed core with a machined aluminum one.

I meant to post a picture of 'before' and 'after' getting the input shaper working.

Before. You can clearly see the ghosting as the printer rounded corners.

PXL_20260202_000050867.jpg

After. No more ghosting. I did lose a little acceleration speed, but I should get some of that back when I swap out the umbilical cords.

As long as you are enjoying it, that's awesome.

I'm kinda getting both with my a1 mini. It works perfect out of the box for like 98% of what I make and I have a ongoing on-again off-again project making it do the other 2% (that it's not designed for) better. Both sides have been fun and empowering.

1000% why I went Bambu and do not regret it one bit.

Have a co-worker who bought a Prusa Core One and just returned it, he bought the kit and after messing with it for almost a month could not get the X/Y working correctly. I keep teasing him about buying my X1C and that the price has now gone up...

Well, a little more fun with the H2C, filament, and the firmware version. The slicer apparently knows of future features BUT will not allow me to use them. What do I mean? Bambu has said at some point they will allow TPU for AMS to be printed from the left print head in a future firmware. I'm drying filament in the two AMS 2 Pro's so I wanted to see what would happen if I tried printing from the HT AMS which is connected to the left print head currently.

Loaded up the project and sliced it and all looked good.

Hit the "Print Plate" button annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd F U!

but maybe there is hope at the end of that "Upgrade" button. A glimmer of hope...

DENIED!!! I'm on the latest version  Oh well, it is interesting and the SWE thinks it's a bug to be telling me about future features that I cannot get yet. Damn tease!

I put a roll in my AMS HT and there must have been a new fireware update as it now asks me if I want it to rotate while drying or not. I did not try to print while it was drying though but now I am curious and will have to try and see what it does.

I wonder how it handles the end of the filament when doing that. Feeds it back and forth in the AMS to keep tension?

Signed into Venmo for the first time in a long time yesterday night to figure out how to withdraw $26 someone sent me for a couple Spaceballs tickets.

Found out I've been getting "tipped" on thingiverse to the tune of $80 in the last 3 months for the nonsense I put up there for free.
You're Welcome. My Wife,CPA would like to remind you to claim that income.

Little work project

20260202_155726.jpg

Approx 3" nozzle extension for caulk tubes. This one threads on then accepts the normal screw in nozzle, many others are a slip/press fit over the existing tip but some of our installers didn't like that as much.

Haven't put it out in the field yet for installer feedback, at 11 grams a piece it means it costs about 25 cents at normal PETG price. Looks like 50 fit on a build plate pretty easily and could print overnight without issue so if they're a useful thing can provide them without a lot of effort or cost.

Yes, once I get a couple tweaks made will post it online and share the link. Haven't verified any others but works with OSI and assume it works with most others. Will make a longer extension and a direct screw on nozzle also. Some refinements to the wall thickness could be made ...but I just dont care on an 11g print.

Happy to report that my Schoolhouse Spools order finally arrived (took longer than expected, but the price was right and it's here now!). In the meantime I've been downloading files like crazy - some practical, some... not so much. Current project: design and print a ramp to correct the height difference between the bottom of the cabinet and the lip of the cabinet so that when you pull a sheet pan out it doesn't catch. It's a simple wedge, just need to get the dimensions fine-tuned. Overall height is about 4 mm, so we're not breaking any records here.

4 pieces of the wheelchair are done. I'm travelling for a couple days, so I loaded enough into the AMS for the rest of the black parts and my 10 year old will (hopefully) keep it running.

48 hrs in and 320 to go. I'm saving the TPU for last (red)

New laptop shows up tomorrow (a used Lenovo P14S... i7 11th Gen, 32GB ram, T500 graphics card and 4K screen). Looking forward to a speed bump with slicing these models
When I upgraded from an Apple M1 Max to an M4 Max, slicing and rendering times sped up 300-400%. It was a revelation.

Might be user error since it's built from a kit. I built the Mini and MK4S from kits and they have been rock solid. Mini is going on 5 years and I just blow the shop dust off it every once in awhile.
No shade against Bambu they're more affordable and have made printing easier for people.
I'm starting to print larger, multicolor models so I'm waiting until the Core One L gets the INDX system. Really want the XL but can't justify the price, and I'm REALLY good at justifying purchases to myself.

Have you seen the price of that thing? $4-5 grand. That would require a VERY robust use case, even in the give-him-****-til-he-caved scenario.
No the trick is to buy the semi-assembled with only one tool head for $2200. Then you buy the additional tool heads later once you've forgotten how much money you've already spent.

Also the full 5 tool head is $3390, still eye watering but very shy of $5k

Add the enclosure and you're at 4200ish...why wouldn't you?

22602.jpgUpgraded my geologic model with magnets so we could pull each unit apart. Once I get the MMU running I can change the color within each unit based on the ore grade.

If I had an XL I could print really big models, and with the hinted Pick n' Place tool head I could automate placing magnets 🤔

Oh man, I'm seeing so many great opportunities here. Better models, saved time, general happiness, world peace...

Not saying I'm disappointed in you, or anything, but don't change that...

Just picked this up, another P1S but with the AMS2 Pro and a box of filament and supplies for 500. I already have a P1S so I will move one along. I've wanted to add an AMS for a while and a similar setup came up a couple of weeks ago and was gone in a day. So I saw this and figured why not. This machine has 81 hours on it, mine had 282.

I ran a couple of prints through the newer printer and they came out great. So this morning I did a benchy and took some pics and a video of it printing and listed it on FBMP along with a print dryer for 325. I had about 6 replies in around 2 hours. It's on the way home with its new owner. I figured about a year or so old and 250 hours its in pretty shape.

New they are selling them for 399 with free shipping. Add whatever sales tax, in my case its about 22 bucks extra. I googled what they were selling for used and it said somewhere between 3 and 400. I can't say I understand why it would go for that close to new price, but it went.

I printed this for a friend that loves dragons, its to hang your keys on:

I think it shows that the Bambu brand holds its value better than others. I've seen the Ender brands on FBMP for near giveaway prices. The P1S really is the most affordable enclosed "do all" type I think.

Some additional variants plus an experimental batch hit the printer

The standard "skinny" nozzle is about 6" long, the extra deep skinny nozzle adds another 1.5" or 2" to that. Picture in hand is the extra deep version
