Some impressive progress in there. Thanks for such a thorough build thread, I've never seen a building constructed like this and it's fascinating.

Considering the door I'm guessing you must work on a lot of zepplins. :)

Mostly Led, some "Stones." :)

We had a very productive weekend. We got the outer foundation coated, moved a lot of the chips to the front of the building, buried a tile for the downspouts, and got to the painting...

That's me & the youngest son, just getting started with the primer.
The lift is one of the best investments yet. We just use it for everything.

This is what it looks like this evening...

And I finally have a place worthy of hanging my flag...

Plumber & electrician are scheduled to show up tomorrow.

Waiting on the steel purlins that I'm using for joists. Then we can get the deck on the loft.

I need to go to bed!

I finally got the painting done to my liking. It was just too plain without the stripe...

It even looks better with a car inside...

Yesterday was pipe laying day. Ran 2" water line, 4" electrical conduit to the shop & house, and (2) 4" & (2) 2" empty conduits from the shop to the house (just in case.)
Of course we had over an inch of rain the night before, just after we got the trench dug.

The plumber thinks I'm crazy (and I am,) but I shouldn't have to tear up the driveway again.

Great porject, looks like it is coming together for a great summer. Are you adding any large fans etc to keep cool?

Again, I must apologize for not updating the progress.

This thing has consumed nearly every waking moment this summer, but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

This is the decking & steel purlins used for floor joists. Spanning 24', someone told me that I could park a truck up there, and I think they're right.

The cooling system for the office/kitchen/bathroom, and a car on the lift.

A cluttered mess, but we're getting closer.

Finishing touches on the deck.

The indoor garage for toy storage.

Countertops/sinks were installed last Wednesday, and the boiler was fired up then also. The plumber should get things hooked up next week. The electrician should finish up next week, and all we have left is the woodwork in the office & kitchen.

Then I can get things organized in the shop. I've already moved my toolbox a couple of times. I wish that I had read the "cabinet" post earlier. I could sure use a bunch of those wall cabinets.

Thanks for all of the compliments. It's been a lot of hard work, but will be well worth it in the long run.

Nice! Now let us know when you fill up both garages:beer:

Johnboy

We are working on it. The '71 and the 2010 get the toyroom. The pewter '02 is just my daily driver "work car," and the navy blue 2000 is the yougest sons new ride.

Can you tell me what tile you went with here? Ceramic? Porcelain? Make and model? Looks great!

It's porcelain from

Here's the label on the box.

We used charcoal grout, and it stands out really nice.

What are you doing for sewer?

We were able to tie in to the existing septic tank for the house. As long as we weren't adding bodies, we could get away with that.

Not the intended purpose for this place, but the service technician sure does appreciate it.

I stopped at Sears today for something else, when I wandered through the storage isle. Looked at Gladiator & these, and the sales rep asked if I needed help. I told him that I was in need of quite a few cabinets, and he mentioned that these were on clearance from $179.00 down to $70.00. I was hoping that there were more than the 2, but they are a start.

Can you post some photos of the interior ceiling being installed? I have trusses 4 foot on center as well and I'd like to see how they did yours.

Thanks for a great post!

All I can say is wow. My dream garage.

After reading through this thread I realize that I have seen your cars before. Like just in August at Depot days. You had four cars their and you were parked next to my Jeep. Small world.

Great garage, like the in floor heating and separate garage for the toys.

My trusses are on 8' centers, so they laid 2X4s flat on 36" spacing so there's a nailer at every seam.

It is a small world, isn't it. And I'm worthy of your first post. Thank you.

I don't know what to be more excited about the shop or all the Camaro's. You have a very nice collection of cars and the shop is beautiful.

Awesome job zeebad1 ! ! ! It is great when you have a lot of room to built your dream garage. I wish I had this much room. Broke ground on my new garage rebuilt a few weeks ago. Trenching leveling ... it's all in the works but mine will never be as nice ... but it gives me hope ...

Thanks for sharing and for all the great pictures !

Really?!?! They never break?

Oh that's right, they don't spray tall corn.:)

LOL!!!! Just giving you a hard time. We don't like spraying tall corn anyways, let the airplane do it. I've never ran a hagie actually, so I guess I can't say anything bad about them. I'm not a fan of the boom in front, (I don't like wrapping the field twice). We run 4 4260 patriots out of the plant I manage, we cover around 80,000 acres total per year. Yea they break down, just like eveything else...
