I usually give up before I get that much hair. I have short and medium haired dogs and it's amazing how much hair comes off of them.

Agreed.. It's def worth the retail price. They do go on sale on occasion. When my wife is done, she always says she made another dog!

That is amazing, need to get one for my 3 Great Pyrenees. The white fur would cover up that snow blower and generator.

Great Pyrenees,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what a great breed, at least the 2 I have know. Gentle, friendly until a predator gets too close and then they go to work.

...So what does this furminator look like and can you use it on a cat?

It's just a clipper blade (only the top half of the blade) on a handle. What makes it special, is it has a spring loaded, thumb activated wiper bar that pushes the fur out that's caught in the "V"s, so you can rake out more undercoat.

Yes, they're supposedly good on cats. I keep thinking about buying one for this.

One of the guys I used to work with bought one for their cats and talked about how well it worked. We found a knock off one at Sam's Club to try on our Lab. Holy cow, it pulls some serious hair off him.

One more YES vote. The only problem I have is it never STOPS working on my dog. It will pull more hair every time you brush no matter how long you do it. I don't know why there is any hair left after a while.

All three love kids since they are bred to watch over small animals. They hear the coyotes about a 1/2 mile from the house so they take turns watching the house at night.

My cat and dog get along great.. That picture was not soon after I got the cat (she was a rescue), and my dog was not use to a cat being so friendly with her. (My previous cat was not "affectionate" towards the dog)

I've had the brush for a few years - the thing is just unreal how well it works. They make different sizes for cats and dogs, the model I have was $50.. (Yea I know) .. The ONLY reason I even bought it - there's a pet store (Pet Discount Plus) that allows you to rent bathing stalls with all the supplies for only $12... There's no way my house will ever suffer from giving the dog a bath here again with a price like that, and the place is only 1/2 mile away.. When they first opened up they had everything you could ever possibly want or need to bathe your pets all laid out for you.. One day I went, and stuff was missing - I asked the manager and he said people kept stealing it so they can't put some things out anymore.. I asked about buying a brush since all the others were gone, and the guy said "you want a good brush, trust me, buy this thing".. I laughed when I saw the price, and he said "tell ya what, take it in the back and use it first, and if you don't like it just give it back to me". Needless to say I bought it, and EVERY TIME I use the thing I'm amazed..

I'll probaly wind up brushing her out and wind up with a pile like that 2 more times before she's done shedding this coat.. When her hair starts coming off in clumps like it was before i just brushed her, you can't even stroke that brush down her back or legs. You get a few inches and then you have to push the eject button to get all the hair out of the brush..

And they know the difference between predator and harmless animals. One thought the deer that came in the back yard were playmates but let a hawk or eagle fly over and it went on alert mode.

My oldest female found a skunk that came in the backyard and wanted to be it's friend. Was real lucky she got a warning dose. She was taken to the pound to be put to sleep because she has a slightly deformed head and her lower jaw is nearly an inch shorter. We adopted her instead and she is a great dog, real smart, watches the house and loves kids. She snorts a lot but loves to kiss kids ears, and the kids love it.

Ordered a Furminator, should be here today, see how it works.

I told the wife I'm going to use the furminator on her the next time I have to clean her hair out of the bathtub drain! haha

On a more serious note I can also vouch for these brushes. They work great on our German Shepard and long haired Chihuahua.

I have to say I looked at the new models of the Furminator at Petsmart.. The biggest one was $79.. Holy ****..... They changed them, now they have interchangeable heads.. Guess that's suppose to justify the obscene cost.. $79.... For a dog brush - and I struggled to make myself pay $50..

You are not kidding. I just ripped all the floor/base moulding out of the house and I could not believe how much dog hair made it behind the moulding and into the wall. Honest to god it looked like I vacuumed up a litter of puppies. All from the goofball in the pic, which gets furminated damn near every other day.
