I am a little surprised that we donÂ’t have a thread on The Garden Grabber... The first model was pretty decently made. The second iteration was a piece of **** and bankrupted the company. I pick up first gen ones every time they pop up on Craigslist. My first one came with my home. I remembered it from commercials years ago and was skeptical the first time I used it. I grew to love that thing considering I live on a “T” and get a ton of leaves. It saves my back and wet or dry leaf collecting is easy. Does anyone know if they are still made somewhere? The ones I do find are new or lightly used. I buy them all the time because every time I use mine someone asks me to find them one.

There was at least two variations on the first gen, one had a metal hanger and the the next one had a plastic one. The company was based in Canada but these things were produced in China

The weak point on these guys is at the top of where the closing slide hooks on. It is kind of weak and is prone to bending and cracking. I have one waiting to be welded. I temporarily fixed it to get me through the season.

The busted one came with the house, the rest are just what I have now. The last one is band spankin new in package from 11/16/99. Normally you can pick them up for about 15 or 20 bucks.
