Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT The Gathering Place

A while back I mentioned that I was turning my garage into a gathering place.
It’s going to be a retro diner with themes of early days transportation and memorabilia. I am slowly working on it and want to post a few pictures so you can all see what I’m doing. And a lot of my inspiration has come from Don Long.
I won’t have near the scale the Don has but it will be mine and it’ll be Great place to enjoy a gathering.

That’s just one of the pic’c i’ll Be displaying. It ‘s a pic of the Automobile Club of America in there beginning .
I thought it was cool.

There will be game tables , old gas pump , drive in speaker set up , diner booths,
antique ball top refrigerator 1912 . My have an old phone booth , we’ll see.

Nothing better than a man cave that people can hang out in.. too many of us keep the cool places to ourselves..

I've spent many an hour sat in a friends garage talking s**t and watching them work..lol

Mainly when building custom bikes.. funny how peoples plans change when a better idea or look comes along after a beer and a burger... good luck with it all.

What you see on the corner it’s called a ball top refrigerator, it was only made one year 1912 by GE
It will be restored it this summer, in either a bright red or Jade green, The biggest problem I have right now is finding somebody that knows about refrigeration on this old beast .
It uses ammonia as refrigerant and I’m not sure it can be converted over to any modern refrigerant at all. Nobody I know is old enough to know how to work on this thing.

It been a couple of years ( life got in the way ) but I am back on it .

Ok , still a work in progress but I am making progress. Note the floor carpet tiles . I gave much thought to many types of floors
I picked carpet tile because

Price per sq ft
Ease of installation
Made from recycled materials ( plastic bottles )
Ease of cleaning
Ease of replacement . Easy easy
Comfort
Noise reduction not noisy at all with a group in there
Small parts don’t bounce all over the place
And I can still park my 2 classic in there.

Yea , I don’t understand the me and mine mentality ? I enjoy having friends around and having a good time.
The thing is most guys can not do their garages the way they want. money , time, space , wife all contribute to what we do.
Even my self, I had a difficult time getting my wife on board with my garage project , actually we had some heated discussing about it. But as you can tell , I prevailed and she said it was a good idea after all.
When you have 20 couples there and how things get spilled or what ever. She said ,she’s glad we don’t have all them milling around in our house. She has to clean it !
Many of our get together’s are in the winter , so that means snow and water getting on the carpet and floor .The snow is clean but the mess it can make on your tile or wood floor ! . We have both.
