Thanks so much for the birthday wishes you guys/gals. It was a nice birthday though I'm older than I ever expected to live!

**** (intentional misspell) I will hopefully be hanging around awhile longer. I had a colonoscopy a couple days after my birthday (my doctor's "present" to me?) Came through it with no polyps, Jimmy Hoffa wasn't up there, nothing!

Hey, back to post 1,745 - I found outlet adapters on Amazon that screw into the little candalabra base bulbs, so that was easy peasy. That allowed us to mount lighted Christmas bows on the 3 brick pillars on the driveway. Looked for 2 more bows at Home Depot - sold out. Amazoned a couple that are similar but battery powered. No one can tell...or will care except SWMBO.

@Dan in Pasadena - How'd the hole drilling in the lamp base go for the plug? Pics?
No drilling at all.
Since these Christmas decorations will only see about a month of use, I just unscrewed the top of the lantern to run the power cord, then replaced it and tightened lightly. The tops won't fall off and since it doesn't snow and hardly rains here I'm not worried about water going in.

An "upside" of getting older and having your short term memory get worse is you receive deliveries of stuff you bought and don't remember buying.....at all!
I was pretty excited about the Dodgers winning the World Series. I remember ordering some T shirts, etc but no memory whatsoever of ordering this. And it was pretty expensive too. It's a bobblehead with Shohei Ohtani as both a pitcher and a hitter. It rotates.
By the way, this shelf of bobbleheads is only one of many in our home office/guest room. There are about 40-50 bobbleheads in total. My coworkers used to refer to my office as, "The Shrine" - it had ALL my Dodgers memorabilia which I have now purged some.IMG_4302.jpeg

That's a great way to do it.

Lucky you. I couldn't get away with it here. Our weather makes you design with paranoia.

Nice collection. My neighbor would be jealous. Is that a Billie Jean King bobble head?

I’m a Giants fan because I grew up in the Bay Area. But I really don’t follow baseball much. My neighbors have been giving me grief for years. The funny thing is she’s a 2nd grade schoolteacher and had a student that just loved the Giants. I gave her a Giant’s World Series flag to give to him. When did, he said,”I love you and your neighbor.”

You will probably never want me post here again. Lol

Dan might have freaked when he pulled into the lot. Too much dirt. :willy_nil
You caught me! Don had actually taken me around the property when I was there earlier in the summer so I knew that back area was unpaved and that he had large groups park there. I wasn't going to park my '55 close to a lot of other cars and not on dirt.

Hi Leonard.
Yes, that's a Billie Jean King bobblehead. She's one of the minority owners of the Dodgers. There are a number of minority share owners.

I LIKE that other guys love their own teams. The Giants and Dodgers have had a very long rivalry all the way back to New York. When the Giants won three titles in the 2010's it sorta "evened the score" between them for awhile.

My home office isn't as loaded with Dodgers gear because when I was still working people knew I was a Dodgers fan and would bring in all sorts of stuff. Even in that office - that co-workers called, "The Shrine" - I couldn't put out all the door mats, signs, pennants, yada, yada that guys gave me. Some of it is still in boxes in my shed but I REALLY need to purge a lot of it. I have had to tell all my loved ones, NO. MORE. BASEBALL. BOOKS, or memorabilia. Enough already!
These pictures are from 2016 so you can only imagine how much MORE stuff I've been given or was given out at Dodgers games in the last 8 years!

I thought you guys might want to see these pics. West of us the lots are triple deep and back up to a very long alley.

A guy down there knocked down their original house and had a bigger house and ginormous garage built in its place. It's been done since the mid summer. The guy always had different cars before they tore the old house down. Some weird ones too. Today he had these cars in the driveway. Something was being done in the garage.

I see a Dodge Viper, a Ford GT, a Cobra clone (I assume) a Lotus of some kind, a Maserati SUV in the back. In the 2nd pic is another exotic coupe I don't recognize. He seems to have a thing for purple. I know for sure he has a military vehicle that looks like a tank with cannon barrel out front but drives on 6 or 8 rubber tires. A neighbor claims he has a building where he keeps his cars. Last weekend I heard a loud truck idling at our curb early one morning. I came out to find this huge "train" of a semi in front. I assume delivering/exchanging cars at this guy's house. If nothing else, it's interesting living down the street.

I suppose there was a time in my life I'd have wanted a LOT of cars like this but not anymore. If I ever win the Lotto and have unlimited funds for cars I think Id stop at about 4 or 5 max. A brand new truck for sure because I prefer them. A '55 Chevy two door hardtop Belair for sure. A woody, I've always wanted one. A '30's-'40's hotrod and a modern luxury car - which I'd have never wanted when I was younger.

I'd like to have the Ford GT for a weekend but I doubt I could get in and out of it without having to put a knee down on the ground, UGH! No foreign exotics for me. I just don't care for them and they kinda scream, "PLEEEASE LOOK AT ME AREN'T I SO COOL!" But then I suppose all these cars do, ha ha.

Anyway, as I see more or different interesting cars at his house I may post a picture or two.

Posting this for one specific reason. My 6-1/2 year old grand daughter wrote this letter to Santa yesterday.

IMG_3625.jpeg

What I really notice is that she doesn't ask for anything! I think that's unusual and a positive for such a little kid. She is a sweet, sweet child and of course I love her dearly as I do all my grandchildren.

Now, yesterday and overnight she and her older sister were at our house. We watched, "The Santa Clause" movies 1, 2 & 3 back to back - she seems really enjoy them. They were made over the course of maybe 12-15 years and I notice in the first one all the elves are white kids. In the later two movies the elves are all ethnicities. Nothing at all was said about it, I just noticed it.

This makes me wonder if that is why she asked Santa what color he is? My opinion is that children are incredibly observant and even though they may not be able to articulate what they take in they do see things, they notice differences. Also, my daughter is biracial and so is her daddy so I wonder if that has anything to do with her observation? Kids are fascinating.

Dan, that letter to Santa is wonderful. It's a weird coincidence that I was just posting a little story in my "Luckiest..." thread about how observant kids are but also how they adapt to or adopt the slightly unusual things in their own life as perfectly normal.

"Checking out at the supermarket a few years later, our daughter made a loud pronouncement about the man who was next in line: "Mom, that man only has one leg!!!" Liane responded: "Yes dear but you know your daddy only has one arm." Astonishing silence followed..."

Kids are THE best people in the world. They have no ability to be false - for better or worse they see truth, speak truth and are absolute sponges for nearly everything.

He was a spoiled sociopath from birth... Then we he was six his raging alcoholic father decided that snorting coke off hookers thighs in Las Vegas was more fun than being married to my sister and raising 4 kids.
Add in a string of failed jobs ( he's smarter than everyone he ever worked for) roid rage, and legal marijuana... Not a great combination.

Sounds bad. Also sounds like he never really had much of a chance at a "normal" life. Sad. But I can imagine, upsetting as hell to see your sister deal with all of this. Was this "father" EVER a normal person or did your sister happen to pick a winner from the very beginning?

Father was born on third base and thinks hit hit a triple. Very wealthy family, He had the best of everything growing up with no accountability for his actions. Spoiled his son the same way, they both turned out to be hot messes. Drugs, alcohol, partying- there were no limits. My sister got out of that marriage in 2002, her three younger kids turned out fine. She remarried a few years ago. (I performed the ceremony) New husband treats her really well.

First, Merry Christmas to you and all those following this thread. [except for the naughty ones - you know who you are] I have yet to go back through all of the pages and pictures, but your recent comment is something I identified with: "I suppose there was a time in my life I'd have wanted a LOT of cars like this but not anymore." At this point in my life [turned 74 last month] I'd trade my 911 for a truck just like your '55. Exquisite example. (y)(y)(y)

Glad to hear things got better for your sister at least.
