My preference is to leave the toolboxes original whenever possible, but I bought this set intending to flip it on eBay and the box was pretty unappealing. I went ahead and cleaned it up and repainted the box. It sold
right away.

Well someone has to do it ;) That one is in the AF museum at Wright-Patt now.
& technically it IS a tool as it's a Photo Recon version so basically a flying camera :)
Ah, I was wondering.. if a Spitfire met the requirements of a 'tool' for this thread! Enjoyed seeing it, and sure many others did too.
Great job to restore one, well done, and thanks for sharing.(y)

Technically the *before* pic wasn't the beginning, you can see three new skins on the rear of the fuselage, there was one on the other side too.
One of the original skins (the bare metal one, the other was part of Stiletto)DSC00001.JPG

Here is an Atlas head and table lift I found that was absolutely frozen solid on the column. This was one one of those "spent its entire life at the Pacific beach" situations, and the sea air had locked that head, the table, and the lift onto that column as if they were welded on. That was a "fun" one.

Still has all its original paint.

I haven't worked on an aircraft in years. I was assigned to both EA-6B and C-130 squadrons as airframes and hydraulics mechanic in the 80's through late 90's.

I always wanted to help restore something that was being memorialized.

Go find a project & volunteer. Eventually someone will pay you (took me two years) :)

USS Intrepid museum maybe?

Well, it has been a minute since I posted in this thread. Somewhat recently I have rebuilt a 1969 Craftsman Emerson 2nd Generation 15.5” Drill Press (113.245601). Back in June I started a YouTube Chanel where I document these rebuilds to help others get their older equipment up and running. The Chanel is https://www.youtube.com/c/JeffsShop

I have developed playlist for each rebuild series.

I also added another pedestal mounted tool to my collection. This is a 1950-1956 Craftsman King Seeley 3-Wheel 12’ Band Saw (103.24300) I picked up back in October of 2021. Along with the Band Saw I rebuilt a very old induction GE motor and added a Craftsman Slow Speed Converter (9-2342) to the rebuild. The entire rebuild was again documented on my YouTube Chanel.

I had been searching for a medium sized vise for a while when this one popped up. Been sitting outside at least one Detroit winter.
I understood why when I bent down and picked it up to carry down the block at 140#.IMG_2409.jpeg

Originally I’d planned on painting it but once I got it all cleaned up and the base dialed in and mounted I decided to leave it.
