Sounds interesting. I was thinking maybe there was someone along the lines of underseal? Not to thick and heavy, like a kind of rustproof sealant/paint.
Undercoating is great but I see no advantage to undercoating rusty metal. Thats where the waste oil comes in. Also, in Maine they sand and salt on the roads in winter, undercoating comes off just like paint does in areas sprayed by your tires

I have some customers who have the underside of their vehicles sprayed with motor oil every spring/summer.They then find a nice dusty country road and go for a long drive. This puts a nice heavy coat of dust over the oil to help it stay in place.I always use new oil instead of waste oil,it's cheap and doesn't have the acids that waste oil has.It works really well, one customer has a 13yr old Ranger that has been oiled every year since new.Every bolt on the truck is easy to remove, just wipe off the film of oil and dust and brake loose the bolts or fitting and they thread out by hand.

If I wanted a sprayable product that does not chip off, that protects new metal and slows rust already forming, I'd use oil - waste or otherwise. As an industrial product, I'd go with a wax-like coating that remained soft.
I was around in the beginnings of Zeibart and rubberized rust-proofings and most of them looked like they chipped off soon after application. Zeibart is a waxy substance that actually works - except for where the actual holes are drilled!

looks like good info BUT i HATE webpages that have music with NO way to turn it off, it's such a pain in the ****. sometimes you don't want the music playing to show that you aren't working.

IME undercoating or "rust stopping" spray paint is slightly beneficial on rusted metal, if I had to throw out a number i would say it slows its progression by 20% if you're lucky.

Moose, heres another product to consider: Amsoil Metal Protector, works fairly well at slowing/stopping rust, and durability is decent for a wax-like product

yeah. It would be interesting to see how it rates. I have two cans so it'll be awhile before it runs out.

Well, I ordered some Weatherpruf myself. I can't keep rust off my damn drill press and dimple dies, and it's royally ******* me off. Even kroil won't do it. It works for a while, but after a week, the **** starts showing up again.

I'm going to wire brush the hell out of it, clean it really well with alcohol, then soak in weatherpruf. Hopefully that will do the trick.

I've had great success with removing the rust with Kano Labs Exrust then applying the Weatherpruf. Just my 2 cents.
