wow, you guy don't have to get defensive....
I also clean my tools after most every uses. My drawer liners DO NOT consist of grease chunks and/or little oil pools. I was simply making an observation.
I'll also not put it past some of you to simply collect tools and claim them as to be 'used'.
Trust me, I have ell over $10K invested in top brand qaulity tools...they're gonna wear. Don't confuse productivity with winning beauty pagents.

The point I was getting to, came to me when viewing the Snap-On composite ball peens. I regularly have to beat off rusted on rotors and more than once, my hammer (Snap On composite ball peen, green as shown in other pictures), has slipped and taken a few chunks out the hammer body.
You can't be thinking "Damn, which way can I swing this hammer to NOT get is scuffed up?"

The whole idea that comes to my mind sometimes is that "How can I use this fine new looking tool during everyday practical use, without gwetting it scratched or ruining that sweet chrome?" To me, that's not why you purchase top of the line quality tools. I understand respect for what you use, but there is a practicality line somewhere.
To each his own.
And any more defensive comments directed towards my posting will result in my critical thinking of that sole persons' insecurities :bounce:

ps-and there is a MAJOR night'day difference between professional and shadetree tools use....you can't even compare. If you use them that much as work on the side, then you're a professional...hypocrite

Oh I'm not defensive at all. You made a blanket statement and I'm just pointing out its inaccuracies. :D
you just described why your tools would be in rough shape. You work hard with them for a living. Good for you.
I'm a shadetree (actually usually at night so no shade and no tree) kinda guy. I use my tools when I get free time from my day job, my wife, 9 month old son, and side jobs(mostly not tool related)and when I get to use them, I have the luxury of time as I don't have to get one job done so the next one can roll in and be put on a lift so I can make my living. I don't use them hard and I clean them after every project. If that makes me a tool polisher, then so be it. I don't use comfort handled handles in sludgey, greasy jobs. They're for "cleaner" jobs and interior work. I have full chrome ones for grease as they clean up easy. One thing I don't do though, is obtain tools simply for show. Sure they look pretty in the box but each and every one of them at some point in time is used. The chrome on them isn't perfect but I don't see the point of doing macro photography to prove that my tools are used. they're not used to the extent that yours are mind you. I see no reason to beat on my $100+ ratchets as a casual user.

I do collect some items though. I have a nice collection of watchets, zippo lighters and I used to collect coins as a youngin'. :bounce: maybe I'll post some pics of those sometime!

anyways....back to what this thread is about....green tool ****!

suddenly i'm green with all these green :bounce:

how difficult is it to swap those cushion grips?

It's not hard at all, IMHO. Put the ratchet/screwdriver (same rules apply) handle up in a vise, with about 1/2" between the handle and the vise jaws. Now take an open end wrench, and place that around the metal part of the tool, against the plastic handle. Now get a prybar between the wrench and the vise, and pry up. You might have to stack wrenches, or move the tool down in the vise to get the handle all the way off. Quick, simple, doesn't screw up the old handle, either. Then just beat the new one on with a heavy rubber mallet.

Granted I'm a proefessional tech that uses them everyday, but still....

So am I, I just happen to take care of my tools. I don't like them looking like trash after I spent big $$$ on them. They get cleaned before they go back in the box, and I very rarely misuse them.

The point I was getting to, came to me when viewing the Snap-On composite ball peens. I regularly have to beat off rusted on rotors and more than once, my hammer (Snap On composite ball peen, green as shown in other pictures), has slipped and taken a few chunks out the hammer body.

I don't *think* it, it's just programmed habit. My 20 year old wood hammer handles don't have more than a couple of dings in them. Again, I just choose to take better care of tools.

Those Snap-On screwdrivers are used every day professionally, (and when I say this, I usually clock 3-600 hours of overtime per year, also) for the last 6 years or so. Very few are stained or have marks on them.

This is the only green Snap-On product I own since I just sold my 1/4" flex head ratchet. Actually thinking about selling this ratchet also as I have an older hard handle version which I like more. Nice collections of green though!

The matco green boxes just don't have the "pop" that the Snappys have. They almost look dull side by side.

My camera is partially to blame for the dullness. It really pops in person, but I can't say I've seen them side by side for a comparison.

I forgot about my recent acquisition at a car show. A set of the Snap on Racing new versions of the old hard handles (probably made by Williams, hence the Snap on racing logo). Nice 7 piece set SDDX70AG for $100 on sale. The show had three Snap on dealers selling tools featuring 15% or so off. I should have picked up the three piece green plier set too. Maybe next time,
