What were the shanks from?

The SnapOn Square drive set, its 100% Genuine Snappy...my issue with the SO set was the handles are all different colors...and I much prefer green...so I ordered the shanks and handles from SO as repair parts...assembled them myself and ****...nice green set.

My one & only thing I don't like is I would have MUCH preferred to have this set with Instinct Handles...

The instinct handles are really expensive, you have to buy the whole driver!

I have the slack adjuster set with orange acetate handles, I may need to swap mine to green. The more I look at them, the cheaper they feel, snap on did a ****** job of making the handles fit. How did you get the shanks out of the handles without hurting the chrome? I have a flathead that was installed crooked and it is driving me nuts. I was going to try and boil it like the comfort grip ratchets, but I have not worked with the acetate handles yet.

I didn't take them out of anything...I bought the shanks as repair parts so they came "loose" separate. I bought New shanks, new handles and assembled them myself.

I'll have to dig out my paperwork...I bought all this stuff last year, cleaning out my toolbox this week and I has an "oh $hit...forgot about this" moment..

I forgot you can buy it all separately. I am still toying with removing some instinct handles and swapping them onto some other tools. I just bought a set of instinct hard handle screwdrivers, they have a grey inset instead of black, I kind of like it.

I clicked, it says "no parts for this product" (but not at you)

Yeah my OCD of having incorrect PN#'s on the handles killed that idea for me :wtf:

Just checked...same here...in the old catalog site it was listed. This isn't the first & only item which I KNOW have available parts but not showing up on the site... Although I say that, I wonder if there is a change in policy, last week I needed to warranty a shank on my hex set (the folding pocket knife style Hex driver set) my driver looked it up, showed as field repairable, replace parts as necessary but could not find ANY parts available...had to order the whole thing....which I pick up today

Is it possible to change the red soft grip ratchet handles to green? I just bought two ratchets. One with green and one with red. I thought I read that it could be done but could not locate it when I searched for it.

Yes the soft grips are a direct replacement but hard handles require mode of shank and or handle depending on drive size

I have found that with boiling water, it takes a minimum of 3 minutes for the 1/4" drive, 4 minutes for the 3/8" drive and 6 minutes for the 1/2" drive. I do not let the handle touch the bottom of the pan and I do not let the ratchet head get into the water. Use some oven mitts, the tools and grips get pretty warm. When you start the tool, throw the new grip in the water and let it get hot as well. Then you pull them apart, if it won't come apart, put it back into the boiling water. Also pay attention to the orientation, so you can install them the same way.

I usually put into vise and pop out with open end wrench and sometimes the use of panel driver (v shaped end)

I forget that some people don't care about the old grips. I usually swap new or near new ones, so I am trying not to hurt the grip. My driver gives me a credit for the ones I bring him towards my new green ones. I try and always have two of each size on hand, but I got stuck with no extras and I was waiting for the driver to get more to me, except I have not seen him in two weeks. I should have just ordered them directly, butI try and buy through him for anything available.

It's not a Betty Crocker cookie recipe man!!

There's no reason u can't pull them off after no more than 30 seconds in the water for any size

Maybe a used one, but to get my new ones off, it was all I could do and I boiled the 1/2" drive a couple of times. I was standing on the flex head and pulling and it would not come off. The second batch, I left them in about those times and they came off much better. The new grips went on great, then the next day I had to tap them down about an eight of an inch, but I have not seen them moving since then.

I just bought another CT8815G because I needed it for... reasons. Anyway I went to the website to buy me a new boot because I can't have a naked impact. and The ct8810gboot part number doesn't exist anymore, did they discontinue the boots? If they did I'm going to buy all of them I can find on ebay because I usually destroy one every few months and I want to protect the impact. Also the battery boots CTB7185BOOT dont seem to be available in green anymore is that the truth? Have they forsaken me this way?

One last one....

I've got a tub of Plasti Dip Blaze green to do all of the red pliers.

I've already tried it on one set and it's a very good match. SO's own handles don't all match anyway with the same shade of extreme green so no big deal.

Changed out a few ratchets to green hard handles today and some long picks
You can clearly see the difference in lengths from converting to hard handle vs soft grip the other ratchet has handle off for comparison pics as this originally came with hard handle

Also note these are to replacement 3/8 ratchet hard handles I am using to match others and the size seems to work better for me

And thanks to gstang for my green handled drivers that have the female ends

There are green battery covers now? What's the part number on those?

And my driver has one of those pistol grip hard handle ratcheting screwdrivers in green(new) on the truck he said he would sell it for $50. Worth buying?

Do you mean like the one a few posts back? If you don't want it I would buy it from you.
