Re: The Green Tools ****

I gave $490 for it. It was part of a BOGO deal that my driver split up (ATEC125FHLLG) that pairs the 3/8" Techangle with a 3/8" green hard grip extra-long handle flex-head ratchet (FHLLFD80G). I've already got all the ratchets I need, so my driver split the kit up.

I was able to snag the "older" 5-100ft/lbs version earlier this year. Dealer knocked off a bit for me since it was the last one on the truck. My only "regret" was not being to get green. But sometimes I still can't walk away from a deal, regardless of the color.

Anyway... Do you want to trade?

Don’t think I ever got to post my various green items since they have been placed in my toolbox. I also have techangle 3/8 and 1/2 in green hiding in another drawer7a561ef1f60c3d7cb998880273d7e98e.jpg617016b9801e41e686bfe9712c8c6b25.jpga0f1be5972184b8c8bd727744ffada87.jpg2396b5e38f0ba735894db0b06ad4f4e3.jpgfc182594c14c2b6badc5573a95dc1f22.jpg

Nice! I'm trying my hardest to avoid the 14.4 stuff, because I know as soon as I get one tool or light on that platform, it's the end of my bank account...

There is a "green with envy" joke in there somewhere... Seriously, I have some of that, but you definitely have more green than I do. Whenever I look at my box and see non-green SO, it just feels out of place.

Yea I have gone very out of the way to make sure most everything matches... haha. The terminal screwdriver set is the only one I think that just isn’t made with green handles and I have not felt like swapping out. Also have my non Snap-on non green things like the Milwaukee impact and the NWS and Grip-On pliers but I like those as they are. I also forgot I have the various punch/chisel and file sets in green in another drawer.

Also completely agreed on the 14.4 decision process. I generally kept saying well I already invested in a bunch of batteries...

Found a green/black 1/2” drive Techangle (ATECH3F250VG) in brand new condition. Got a good deal on it too, very happy!

I couldn’t resist, I’m weak... It was green (CTR761BG), practically brand new, came with two green batteries (and the covers!) and I got a nice deal on everything.

Oh well, now I’m officially on the 14.4 platform... Now I guess I have an excuse to get that light I’ve been eyeing [emoji23]

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures but I have aquired a collection of green S-O items and it will continue to grow. So far I have the following

- 4pc pry bar set
- 36" pry bar
- rolling stool
- rechargeable magnetic light
- 32oz deadblow
- 14.4V micro lithium drill, sander/polisher and ⅜" impact

Recently bought green socket trays and two green organizer trays. I've wanted a S-O extreme green box for a while now but couldn't justify the cost so I found a suitable alternative option. I just placed a deposit on a bright green 72" box from Styrke. In May when it arrives from manufacturing I'm getting all kinds of custom racks, holders, trays, etc 3D printed in a bright green by a friend of mine. Should look pretty good when it's all finished.

@Strouty, guess what popped up on FB marketplace about an hour from my house? [emoji16] Guy I bought it from said it was brand new, and the cover plate on the ratchet head agrees with him - this thing has never even whiffed a socket. Getting it for just over half what it cost new was nice too...

I only have a few snap-on tools and by no means are a groupie but wow those are some nice looking torque wrenches. Very nicely done hunting them down.

My 1st snap on cordless tool in like 8 years. I really like it so far, its my 2nd most used ratchet these days.

Very nice, is that the 1/4”? Congrats!

After using the 3/8” for a week and seeing how much better it was than my MAC, I took @Strouty’s advice and traded it in to my Snap-on dealer last week and had him order me a green long-neck 1/4”. Supposed to be here this week, I’m looking forward to it.

I only have a few snap-on tools and by no means are a groupie but wow those are some nice looking torque wrenches. Very nicely done hunting them down.

Thanks! I’ve already used all 3 a good bit. I really like these TechAngles, everything about them is so much better than every other torque wrench I’ve ever used.

Question to all the other TechAngle users in here - do you keep the batteries in your torque wrenches, or do you take them out when storing them? One of the many things I appreciate about these wrenches is the battery gauge on the LCD. I’ve always taken the battery out of my previous digital torque wrenches, but I’m thinking about just leaving them in now that these have a gauge...

I had some batteries swell just a tiny bit and made getting them out a real pain. I've also had my dealer tell me stories about people having to send them in due to not being able to get them out. At my last shop where I used them daily I left them in and never had an issue, at the shop I'm at now they MIGHT get used once a week that may have been a factor to the batteries swelling, new shop seems to kill my batteries for some reason.

Not all are present as I'm in the middle of a bedroom remodel. Still need some long cabinet drivers...

I take mine out. In fact I don't leave batteries in anything if I can help it. I also take my power tool batteries inside the house. I found last summer they were dropping from the extreme heat here in Arizona.

I also don't leave my scan tools, multimeters or other "sensitive" electronic devices in the garage if I can help it.

When I was still working in a shop, you do what you have to do. But unfortunately I've worked with guys who had their digital torque wrenches for example destroyed by leaking/exploded batteries.

Thanks for the replies. The leaking is exactly what I'm worried about. I think I've settled on leaving the batteries in the 3/8" since that is the most frequently used one, and taking the batteries out of the other two. I don't want to be hunting down any more torque wrenches for a while...

I have had many devices ruined over the years by alkaline batteries, never had anything ruined by the lithiums, knock on wood. If you are storing them long term, I would probably still remove them, lithium batteries can expand, I have had that happen in a mag light, but once I got the battery out the light was fine.

Correct. Lithium batteries don't leak like old alkaline batteries, but they do expand. They expand to the point of breaking or damaging whatever they are stored in. For example internal laptop batteries.

But more importantly, they can explode and cause fires. So they are more dangerous.

The ones that expanded were in a truck cab all the time, lots of extreme heat and cold cycles, I figure that contributed to the issue. I have not had any lithium batteries explode or burn yet, again, knock on wood.

Moral of the story, remove all batteries from all electronics every time you are done..........

I see them all the time in laptops. Especially in Arizona because it's hot outside and employees frequently leave them in their cars or turned on while stuffed into a bag, etc. Lithium doesn't like extreme heat or extreme cold. But when they start to "swell" or "bulge" it can literally break the keyboard, trackpad, motherboard/circuit boards, or even the laptop shell itself.

Basically if you smell bubble gum, you've got a lithium ion battery leak.

Also, if you think back a few years the new Samsung Galaxy phone model at the time were having so many battery safety issues they were even banned from airplanes for a time (still might be). Watch some YouTube, they can be one hell of a fire starter when they fail in spectacular fashion.

Haha, my tools don't belong here! I think this is the extent of my green SnapOn stuff save for a screwdriver I found under 4 inches of dirt on a skidplate once. Ive never been one to care what color it is, as long as it works. Although I must say the green ones are easy to spot from across the shop or out in the field!

Yes they're dirty, yes they get used. They'll get wiped off when I get done with the front end of the Super Duty they are currently being used on.

Welcome to brotherhood of green, haha... And that screwdriver you found would be my favorite tool, because FREE Snap-on is the BEST Snap-on!

My driver dropped off my new CTR717GDB this afternoon. I know it’s new, but damn if it isn’t already my favorite ratchet. SO much easier to swing around and hold up than a 3/8.
