@AJHD To your point about chrome sockets - I use impact sockets almost exclusively, and was actually thinking about getting rid of my chromes, but I finally ran into a situation where a 10mm impact was too thick: battery terminals on a Toyota FJ Cruiser. Out came a chrome 10mm to the rescue - guess I’m keeping them after all!

Almost everyone I worked with only kept impact sockets in their service carts. If they had chrome, it was in the big box.

Obviously it happens when the wall of an an impact is too thick and you need a thinner wall chrome socket, but it's never been an issue I've personally encountered to the best of my memory.

I'll invest in chrome sockets again one of these days. But just like upgrading my 1/2" impacts to Snap On, it's lower down on my list of priorities.

Got off the truck cheap today… For $35 I couldn’t resist!

I like my dealer, been doing business with him for a few years now. But I never get those kind of deals. Things are on sale here and there, but I never get like 50% off or get something for free unless it's a promo.

Same here. My dealer isn't that great unfortunately. $35 for that set, I absolutely would have bought it.

I have a great dealer. Aside from this latest set, he’s really cut me some great deals on a lot of tools, especially when I’ve traded in older/cheaper tools toward an upgrade.

Unrelated, I’ve been seeing some of the pics coming out of last weekend’s SFC, and here’s some of the green stuff that caught my eye:

Not green, but the fact that they have it in Orange means they’ll also have it in green. I’ll definitely be trading my Torx set for the foam when I can:

Traded in my CTR761 for the new CTR861. The light on this thing is amazing, and it’s much quieter than my old 761 (which I frequently lubed).

Probably not enough American parts for a full-on “Made in USA” label, but I’ll take it!

Wish they’d get their act together and release the rest of the line, especially the long neck.

edit: for that matter, where is the brushless CT761 upgrade.

LOL, my dealer said he saw the CTR867 in the system last week, but only the red is available for order. He said he knew better than to ask me if I wanted it, and that I’m first on his list for when the green one comes out.

The CTR867 even shows up in Google. Search in quotes. There’s a listing on a Snap-on domain, which looks very “who let the intern play with the database.”

Amusingly enough, the website is actually down right now for maintenance. That’s very surprising to see in 2021.

I keep hoping that one day, Snap-on will have a modern website instead of a catalog they half-heartedly put online because some 90 year old executive was reading about “e-commerce.” Snap-on should be proud enough of the features of their various products to show detailed high resolution photos of everything. It should take multiple minutes to scroll through what makes Snap-on drawer slides special…

Rant over. Otherwise right there with you. Green CTR867 and CT861, please!

So I had a set of power blue hard handle screwdrivers that I liked… But my dealer showed up with a set of these on the truck, so I did the only right thing and traded the Power Blue set away for them. All is right again in my toolbox 😂
