I liked it until I saw the "China factory visit + manufacturing" upcoming step on the timeline.

Nah.. China is fine. I don't like the fact that it's on Kickstarter :/
It seems to me that this platform is a scam heaven.
Does anyone know a Kickstarter project that actually delivered exactly what it promised? I don't..
Either they run away with all the money, or they create some crappy product that doesn't look or work like what they advertised in the first place.

This new crowdfunding thing just doesn't work. Human nature is not compatible with such a hipstery idea. It's in our nature to become lazy once we see ourselves with the eggs in the basket. Real innovations are made by people before they are paid. If they don't have the money, they borrow it from the bank and are still motivated because they know they have to return the loan or they end up on the street. On kickstarter you know the money is yours anyway, so why continue to work on something that doesn't guarantee to bring more $?

Momma got the boy a rubber serving mat from one of those. It's a heavy, no-slip, flexible mat with built in three-course serving bowl/plate for little ones. It's really impressive.

Doesn't seem like the base material is secret, or proprietary, so they will have plenty of competition if the product is actually useful. When Jegs offers one including shipping for less than $20 I might get one, but in general I am not going to trust something sticky to hold tools or parts at an angle where they could fall.

$40 for the small one and $82 for large or $120 for a set of 3, that there is some crazy pricing for a kickstarter project. what is the retail price going to be??? hard to believe that they got 64k in funding so far with astronomical pricing like that.

I thought I was being a genius using a silicone muffin and baking pan. (PS he should have incorporated magnets into the molds... )

Damn missed my chance

I've bought a lot of stuff on Kickstarter- currently up to 26 purchases of all kinds. Tools, electronic stuff, gifts for people. I have been burned exactly once. 1 in 26 is about 4%- I think my success rate in winding up with good products is the same or better on kickstarter as it is buying in a store.
