Bolstered screwdriver set: Pass

They seem to be made as nicely as the popular green/orange screwdrivers everyone likes. The CR-V shafts look and feel and are finished the same. The handles are kind of small but the bolster works well. I was installing some 2.5" wood screws with them, hooked them up to my impacting air ratchet and let it rip. Kind of forgot about the impacting --but they held up pretty well to the abuse. I actually kind of liked that combo compared to a drill.

Those bolstered drivers are nice. Not great finish, but nothing beats a strike-through HF flat head for plans of abuse.

I have been using a 1/2" Metric Set at work everyday for 3 months with a 2135QTIMAX.
Even though this is a fail due to abuse, I still give the set a Pass.

Has anybody tried this Hot Blade Decal Remover? Removing decals can be a huge pain in the ***, so this might be neat.

http://www.harborfreight.com/hot-blade-decal-remover-65057.html

I have one its not harbor freight brand but mine is identical to the HF one and it works fantastic takes decals off like butter off a plate.:bounce:

Doesn't the hot razor blade want to dig into the paint under the decal? I would like a better way for removing decals, but paint damage is my concern.

I agree this works awesome! And yes it works best on unpainted surfaces (metal and glass) but if your careful it can be used on paint but why not just use an eraser wheel??

they do make a air rotary tool with a special wheel that kinda like an eraser and it will remove the decals. the tool goes a little slower then a regular die grinder but with more torque.

Got some shears from HF for my first aid kit. Absolute PASS! These made my 12 dollar ones cut like **** in comparison. Of course the $12 ones have a black coating on them that prevents things from sticking to it, but the cutting ability is almost half of the $3 HF ones.

http://www.harborfreight.com/multipurpose-shears-36900.html

I was so pleased with these that I went back and bought 4 more. My test for these types of scissors is always a very abusive one (cutting pennies in half) then going back to cutting regular paper. These babies were able to cut pennies all day then go back to cutting print paper without any binding what so ever. Perfect cut everytime. While my more expensive ones could only cut 1/4 way then flex and bind. Flex and bind is the last thing I need when trying to cut through tough material in an emergency.

Pass for the 19mm deep impact socket 6 point and 1/2" drive breaker bar - it's the long one 25inchs? Used it to break the crankshaft pulley bolt loose on a 2000 Accord. Would have liked to try out the 20 inch extension in 1/2" but my local HF did not have it in stock.

I've used a 19mm shallow impact 6 pt on the 1/2" dr 17" breaker to break loose countless lugs torqued at 100ft lbs

definite pass

Got the

4" x 24" Magnesium Belt Sander ITEM # 97593
and
Variable Speed Oscillating Multifunction Power Tool ITEM # 67537

Big pass on both these items. I had to refinish about 1,000 sqft of 3/4" hard wood floors which were originally factory finished. The drum sander I rented could not get into the corners or 4" from the sides nor could it get under the cabinets... that's where these two tools came involved.... and I have a lot of corners and walls (would have loved if this was a rectangular room). I ended up spending about 6 hours of running time on these tools and they work still like a champ.

Note - The sanding pads that came with wasn't abrasive enough and did not seem to hold out too long... I found it better to use cut outs of more abrasive sand paper for the oscillating tool.

Anyways, you just have to keep feeding it sand paper but they did the job rather well.

Still a pass on my AC manifold gauges that I got back in '10 I just sat here and adjusted the compound gauge to zero which was effortless.

Gotta use it to charge the AC system up tomorrow.

Yes. I just used it to change out the O2 sensor on a Camry. Worked as it should. O2 sensor was original with 186K.

I'd give it a

Great! I have a silly question do you just stick a racket in it or do I need some type of U-joint extension on it?

I used it connected directly to the ratchet. The picture on the HF site shows the socket upside down.

I second that, removes pinstriping like a dream

Agreed, everytime I see them go on sale for .99 I buy a few pairs, great item to keep in the car for the price. First thing I did was cut thru some pennies!

The 120 amp mig welder is great too, just ditch the flux wire, get some good wire and some argon from airgas and it's pretty damn respectable for the money. I think all said and done ours was $140 something out the door. On sale for $179 no coupon and used a 20% off on top of that.

The ocillating tool both the corded and cordless are pretty good too and a fraction of the price compared to anything with a name.

The 4" hand grinder I have abused greatly and for $14.99 and 2 years later it's still kicking.

And though I don't own one the large tool boxes, believe it or not, are SUPERIOR to anything found at sears today. They're made like the older pre 90's craftsman boxes. The slides are tight and drawers shut and "lock" in much like my Matco top box. I was at sears last week and after going thru every big box they had I just shook my head in complete disgust, the drawers are flimsy, the quality is poor, the metal is paper thin. It's sad that HF can make a much better box for so much less when in fact they're both made over seas.

I can't vouch for the HF boxes but I totally agree with you on the Craftsman boxes. The last one I bought was pure ****.

Light duty Circular saw, can be had for $29.99 almost all the time. PASS

http://www.harborfreight.com/7-1-4-quarter-inch-circular-saw-with-blade-94245.html

Picked up for at work to replace the 35 yo Black and Decker that burned up it's brushes and had a warped shoe. This saw features metal blade encasement and came with a miter guide.
Not like we use it all the time but over that last couple years it has hacked pallets, OSB, and some 110 year old 2x12's into kindling. Today it made a dozen cuts of 2" thick 16" pavers with a masonry blade and is still alive. That's more use than most weekend warriors will ever give a circular saw.

I have the jumbo offset head SAE double box; the older ones (+10 yrs old) . They work but the ratchet action is very coarse/rough.

Yep, I bought a set of those via mail (this was before GearWrench came out) and sent them right back. I remember thinking "great idea, poor execution".

I have two sets of these. They have been excellent. I would highly recommend them.

The scan is not very good, but it should be enough. Make sure the numbers are readable.

If it comes down to it, I have another coupon that I can scan that might come out better.

Anyone have experience with the newer style of 3/8 impact sockets? I bought a full set probably 10 years ago and they were really thin and cracked easily. Today when I was there I noticed they look a lot more like the 1/2 impact sockets that a lot of folks seem to like, myself included. Seem to be a bit thicker than the older version.

I just want to update this... I had to replace all the lower hardware on the legs. I was moving these and noticed there was a missing bolt and a bent bolt on one, so I replaced with 1/4in hardware and locknuts. The original hardware was metric, non-locking. Not really a big deal, might have cost three bucks if that and ten minutes including the trip. I did have to drill out a little to fit 1/4in hardware, but I didn't want to pay the local metric tax. I still think these are a standout value.

47844 clamping work bench / workmate clone I'll give a pass to. I bought two of these for my dad, they seem very sturdy and stable. The top faces of the MDF are easy to chip but I don't think it's a big deal for the price, if I have to replace with A/C marine plywood it'll still be a cost savings over a Black & Decker Workmate. I initially wanted to buy my father a true Workmate but wasn't happy with the one I looked at in Home Depot this week and I'm glad I ordered these over theirs.

Good luck with that :lol_hitti

haha sure enough I came out with something else lol I got the 10" orbital polisher and the mircofiber clothes & a 27 mm 1/2" impact socket.

Everything is a pass so far.

polisher Item # 43424
microfiber clothes 68440
27 mm socket 67790

Hmm question so this polisher came with the terry cloth and fiber maybe it's me but should they fit around the whole foam pad? some sides are higher up then the other it seems like it's a size too small or something..

My guess is they are using those 9-10" bonnets.
