Aluminum Motorcycle jack. PASS
http://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/lifts-stands/lightweight-aluminum-motorcycle-lift-94715.html

Works great. Very lightweight. Jack it up, insert the stop bar, lower until stable. I keep my bike up for a month or more while I work on it over the winter. Only problem I had was some oil got onto one of the rubber flat cushions and caused it to slide when I pulled the jack out and it broke one of the rubber **** that mount it into the metal cradle. This design that lowers by twisting the handle allows for much better control than the one that lowered by a foot pedal. My Suzuki weighs 700lbs BTW.

3/4" Forged Ball Point Joint Separator: FAIL
Item # 99849 Manufacturer: U.S. General

image_12294.jpg

I got it to work, but it looks like a one time use tool. the end of the bolt/drive piece was basically grinding itself off attempting to close the jaws. In addition to that, the lever that the bolt makes contact with has a tendency to 'walk' off of the drive bolt, so time was spent tighteneing, then loosening, to get the drive bolt re-aligned correctly. In addition, the fork didn't fit around the ball joint on my Super Duty, so I had to grind out part of it with my chop saw to even get it to fit. I wouldn't recommend doing that personally, but it worked. I'll take a pic of the bolt drive part when I get home to add to this post.

LOL, I don't know why Mazda did that.

Was it a direct replacement for your factory horn? I'd like to replace the one on my wife's 3.

:)
It wasn't a direct replacement since I was replacing one horn with a dual horn set, but it was an easy install. I just wired the new horns in series using the factory wiring.

Technically, you could get by getting a low tone horn and adding it to the existing high tone horn, but for 12 bucks, might as well just by this set.

+1 PASS.

For a $5 chisel set, these things are actually GREAT. Right out of the box, they're sharp enough to do work. The machining on them is nice and smooth, no burrs, like I was expecting. They are full tang chopping chisels with a nicely sized striking surface on the handle.

The steel is a little more brittle than I would like in a chisel. 30 minutes into using them the first time I broke out a surprisingly large chip of the 1" chisel while chopping through a knot.

However, the flip side of brittleness is stiffness. I've been whaling on these things for a couple days now and have not bent any shafts. Very surprised for a five buck chisel set.

The usable flat area on the back of the chisel is a little shorter than I'd like. But the backs are machined remarkably flat. When sharpening the chipped one, the back came to true very quickly.

The handles themselves are a little short. My hands are on the large side of average, and my pinky finger rests on the steel shaft just below the handle.

For five bucks, these three chisels are a heck of a bargain.

I am a professional woodworker that makes custom furniture, and the three horse dust collector is a gem. I have not seen better performance in units costing three times as much. I have several long complicated runs of tubing and have had no problems in 6 months of 6-8 hour a day work.

It's so nice I'm considering buying a second one a shop expansion I'm planning.

That's certainly worth a try. Can anyone send me a link to a coupon that works. I went into the store with two 20% coupons that I thought would work. I'd hate to go back to request the price difference with another coupon that doesn't work.

Thanks. Michael

I hope I'm not misunderstanding the situation here, but basically HFT's policy is that if you bring your coupon and receipt back within 30 days of purchase, you'll get the difference refunded. The coupon must have been valid when the item was purchased - I am not sure if you could get a refund on March 15 for a purchase made on March 13 with a coupon that expired on March 14. But generally, come back within 30 days with a valid coupon and your receipt and you'll get your refund. Probably up to the MOD. A super coupon would certainly work if valid.

I know some changes were made to the 20% off coupon policy at the first of the year. I'll try to look it up next time I'm there, forget the details right now. May explain your difficulty in using the 20% off coupon on the service carts; I know they worked towards the end of last year, at least.

thats good to know, I didn't know if the dust collector was still a "Gem" or not.
They were the "Buzz" at wood net a few years ago.

Tool and service carts are now excluded from the 20% off coupon. Three specific SkUs were mentioned but of course I forgot to write them down...

Question... I'm charging a commercial battery with the 6/12 V dual rate charger and before the charge it was like 8V or so.. Anyways the needle was showing a charge and so it slowly tapered off and now the needle is like quivering near the lower part of the scale.

it's item 45005 I've only charged up smaller 12V batteries and not a huge battery that has like 1000 CCA 12V So not sure if it's normal.

Does anyone have an opinion on specific sets of 1/2" drive metric impact sockets? I want to get a set of both shallow and deep.

I have the deep sockets in metric in 1/2" I love them I've had them for about a year and a half great sockets but I hope they have a better case then that cheap metal one.

Pneumatic cutoff tool: utter garbage fail
Garden hose reel: utter garbage fail
500 lbs capacity tool stand: fail, but workable if you redrill the holes and use your own hardware and only need to hold up 50 or so pounds.

I picked up that wood 1000 lb moving dolly today.. the casters are trash on it.. I sat a single 8D group battery on it that was 145 lbs and at least one of the casters don't really want to pivot.

I wonder if it would be better with pneumatic tires instead.

anyone here try out the high capacity NiMH batteries that hold their charge? anyone know how they compare to the eneloops from Sanyo? I've been making the move to switch over 100% to rechargeable batteries now that they have a 3yr shelf life... just wondering if the HFT ones are "about as good" as the eneloops? they are cheaper when bought with the 20% coupon than the eneloops @ costco.

I would say the chances of that are zero. Eneloops are some of the best rechargeables I've ever used, very much perform as claimed. Why would HFT have anything better than an average grade of battery if that?

I've never bought a HFT battery, but I know they have them due to returns on the outdoor solar light batteries. Normally that would stop me from making a comment, but batteries are commodity items, wide used and with many users that go through a high volume, really good cheap cells would be widely known.

The last batteries I picked up from HF (non recharge) they were ****.. the yellow and black they could not handle anything but a tv remote.

I picked up some 2700 mAh powerex batteries and called it a day.

i guess i consider HFT is either hit or miss. there are certainly a lot of **** they sell, but there are also some things that would really surprise people for the money. so, without actual data (from my own trials+error, or someone else's) I'm not going to make judgement just yet.

these are the batteries I'm talking about:

http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece-aa-pre-charged-nimh-rechargeable-batteries-67861.html

they come out to $2.50 each, which is about the same price as the eneloops from amazon. the costco deal on eneloops comes out to $2 each for AA. so, they aren't exactly selling "cheap" batteries there... but their 20% coupon applies to almost anything (we know the excluded items, and batteries aren't on the list). i was thinking when they go on sale, and top that with the 20% coupon would yield a better deal than costco. so long as the quality of those are somewhat close to the eneloops, that might work out to be a good deal.

and yes, their disposable batteries are total ****... they are using 60 yr old battery chemistry on those...

on a side note, their lithium CR2032 set of 4 going for $1.99 on sale is an incredible deal and I've had great results using them. A set of 2 CR2032 batteries at Walmart is like $5, so $2 for 4 is incredible and they seem to work just as well.

beware of the other "cell" batteries though... the ones that are not lithium I have doubts about....

I agree, I use several flashlights of different sizes, and the Thunderbolt alkalines last me as well as any other alkalines. I have several friends that use them, and they say the same thing.

I think I've mentioned this before but I'm back. The little blue 800w generator for $89.99 with a coupon. I have one with over 200 hrs on it now. Had a power failure a few days ago and that little generator ran my moms oxygen machine and the refrigerator at the same time for 14 hrs non stop except for refueling.:rocker:

I've gone back and looked at magazines I have from 2011 and the 20% off coupon excludes tool cabinets back then so they've been excluded for a while.

Worm gear clamp assortment box. UTTER FAIL. Can't tighten the clamps, the slots just deform from the worm gear. Useless.

Tool CARTS is the new wording added to the coupons.

I'll have to check my newest magazines, but the coupon I have here in front of me that expires on 6/14/12 states "Tool Cabinets". Maybe the newest ones have changed. These are coming out of magazines, not the ones being sent via email or through their flyers.
