They are Harbor Freight Pittsburgh brand organizers, that sell for $3-4 bux for 3.

Item# 68101

PASS

http://www.harborfreight.com/3-piece-14-38-and-12-socket-rail-set-68101.html

I will go down to the garage and get the part number. They are not as nice as my Matco or Craftsman organizers but those were $10 bux EACH! I only have 2 of them :D the rest are Pittsburgh brand.

I will update this post with the part number.

I will say that these organizers are fairly sturdy, the clips dont fit quite as tight as either the Craftsman or Matco organizers I have had. That being said, they are still a deal in my mind. I did also grease the retention check ball to smooth operation on ONLY my Pittsburgh Pro Impact Sockets. They were hard to release the socket until I did that. Check back shortly and I will get that part number updated.

The blue of those reminds me of the ones I've seen at the dollar store (the "99 cents only" store). I think I have one in the garage I'll have to check it out. As I recall they are slightly flimsy but seem to hold okay.

It's just the blue color is pretty distinct. It's probably sitting in a corner in my garage somewhere with crickets living in it.:D

RATINGS:

8" Bench Grinder / Buffer - PASS
I've had this about a year now and use it pretty regularly as I build custom motorcycles. I've swapped the buffing wheel with a 3M scotch brite wheel and it works great. The grinding wheel it comes with works but is very abrasive and chips away pretty quick. Swap out the wheels and this thing is a great machine at a cheap price.

Abrasive Blast Cabinet - PASSish
Had this for about 6 months and only ever had glass bead in it. It seals decently well. No concerning media escapage as long as you've got a proper vacuum set up (I'm using a Rigid shop vac with pre-filter). CON - The vac port sizes are not standard. They're off by just enough to make setting up a vacuum system a pain in the ***. I had to modify a few things to get the standard 2.5" vacuum hose to work. Once that's set up it works well.

12 / 16 Ton Hydraulic Pipe Bender - NOTE
I'm not going to rate this but I wanted to make this point - note that this is a PIPE bender, not a TUBE bender. This will crush thin wall tubing for things like exhausts. I ruined a length of T304 2.5" - .065" wall stainless tubing by trying to bend it on here. It's for thick wall pipe (like sewer lines). Don't buy it to make an exhaust.

WANTED RATINGS:

Bench Top Rod and Bar Bender
The only reviews for this product I could find on here were FAIL ratings from people trying to use it to bend hollow pipe. Has anyone tried to use it to bend solid rod? If so what were your results?

I've had one of these for about ten years and it has been great. I've been very pleased with it. But then I've never tried to bend pipe with it.

I bought a 24" long extension in 3/8" drive a few weeks ago and it's a pass. I used it on manifold bolts with a 24" breaker bar, the extension was twisting the bar was bending/flexing and the extension never broke. It's a harbor freight Pittsburgh extension it came in a set of fine with other sizes the whole kit cost $13 and change. My box is stuffed with high quality tools I bought this extension on the cheap because I wanted a snap on wobble in 24" but three no longer sell it. I figure I'll get on on eBay but for now I an very impressed with the Pittsburgh extension.

the die grinders any good? and cut off grinders

I have their long extension cut off wheel.

For what I use if for its been great. The only problem I've had with it is the locking collar witch holds the gears all together and keeps the from popping out, it slowly started to unscrew. Meaning when I went to use it, it didn't want to spin the grinding wheel how much I was on the handle.

The 6" magnetic dish is worth picking up like having a few handy. Yeah they are made of cheap metal and will dent just from dropping stuff in them. But for as cheap as they sell them you can't really loose.

Anyone have Cen-Tech - Item#69594
Pass or fail? It has few reviews but all positive.

I've got 5 or 6 of them that I use on my bikes and lawn tractors. Never had a problem and they seem to do their job just fine.

Yea, maybe if you drop a cinderblock onto it. Absolute rubbish. If the exact same dish said "Snap On", you'd be saying how amazing and bulletproof it is. The dish is perfectly fine, yet some bozo will always insist anything HF is made of tin foil.

Agreed, major pass. The 6" size are awesome and free with coupons often. Best gift you can give a friend, whether mechanic or not! Makes working on any little project a neat and pain free job avoiding otherwise lost nuts and bolts. Super for computer case or building work. As to the dent comments, one of mine was already pretty dented new in the box! They do dent! But not really easily. Prob about 10 pounds to do it. - Paul

I, too, have the magnetic pans - GREAT item for the money. Zero issues with it!

I am getting frustrated with my local Harbor Freight. I keep calling them and they say they have over 6 of all of the sizes of Composite Pittsburgh Pro Ratchets and they never have them when I get there.

So I called them when I got home and asked knowing that they didnt have them and someone had already checked back stock while I was there earlier.

Of course the girl says yes we have them. I said no you dont, she said well maybe they arent put away yet. I said no, they checked.

I politely asked her if nobody ever fixes the stock qty will you ever get anymore? Because I have been trying to buy these for over 3 weeks, and I get the same story every time. I really want these to assemble my Harley project after it has been painted and powder coated.

She took my number and said she will see if she can find them and call me. I hope she does, but doubt she will. The gesture was nice of her though.

So Harbor Freight Inventory Tracking = FAIL

That is the result of lazy employees. If they notice something is not there that the computer says they are supposed to have the manager needs to be told and shrink them out of the system. If that doesn't happen the warehouse will never send more.

I agree, I've been waiting 3-4 weeks for my local HF to restock on 8" cotton polishing wheels. I bought 4 several weeks ago, leaving 1 on the peg, and have been checking in ever since to see if the new stock is in so I can get one more pair on my polisher. So far, no luck. It's frustrating.

Yep, I work in auto parts. Always gotta keep track of shrink. Thats why I mentioned it to her, and I overheard her telling the manager. They have also "went to look for something for me before" and never informed me of their findings for the entire hour I browsed. This instance was the General Manager that left me hanging, so I went and asked him in the next isle and he said "oh no we didnt have that" Well geez, thanks for telling me.

As a matter of fact that was about 10 days ago regarding the SAME ratchets!

Which HF location are you refering to. I'm in NC and given your screen name I'm curious to know if the inventory problems I'm encountering from time to time are the same store or if it's a state wide issue.

Thanks

I had a coupon for a 7 drawer side chest a few years ago, stupid cheap, like $139. It was never in stock andthey could never tell me when it wouldbe. I got the impression they had no control over it, a truck would show up and they had no control over what would be on it.

Wilmington, it seems to be something that plagues many Harbor Freight stores. The Jacksonville store seems to be on point though. Much better stock as well. Replying here prompted me to call the jacksonville store and sure nuff they actually have all 3 in stock. What sux is when I make that drive I burn 20 bux in fuel. The ratchets wont even cost me that much.....

Are you in Raleigh?

You really want her to cal you? After she told me this I would have replied, "You do that you **** *****, and I will slip you my love sausage." If you had done this you would have gotten your call and your ratchets with 15 minutes....

I bounce between the Durham location and Raleigh. Raleigh has it in stock if they say so on the phone. I've learned to ask the Durham store to put their hands on the item while I hold. Raleigh is also a longer drive.

ALWAYS ask for a visual confirmation.

In the store talk to the manager and ask them to order some and explain you have been trying to buy it for some time.

Give them a chance and they will often help.

That is true. The stores have absolutely no control over their inventory. The distribution center sends whatever they think is best and the people in the store just have to deal with whatever shows up. It is a terrible system.

At some point, I would value my time and gas spent on dealing with such things and just bite the bullet on the $6.99 shipping and order online and have it shipped to my house.

I believe I will have to do that for these ratchets.

I just always order online. My closest HF is an hour away and theres been times I've driven there looking for specific stuff only for it to be empty. They will ship almost anything for the $7 shipping fee. Including the 80lb floor jack I bought. Well worth it over the hassle of dealing with employees that cant do a simple inventory from time to time.

I recently bought the Pittsburgh Pro 3/8 torque wrench for 11.99 with coupon. I needed one for my dirt bike. I brought it home to try it and it was very hard to raise the torque. I brought it back in and replaced it no questions asked. This one is working fine. Does what its made to do.

Will one store ship to the other? Would the Raleigh store ship to Wilmington?
