I started this build about 2 years ago by purchasing a Menards 30X40X12 garage kit with delayed delivery. I want to start this thread to show where I've been in the process and get input and feedback on where I'm going. At this point I'm tired of working "on" the shop and want to work "in" the shop.

The building is a full foundation stick built garage. I went stick built so we could do more of it ourselves. Here's what we started with.

Your build is a good size, it looks like you have enough acreage to build on.
Where do you live? You could take a look on my build thread for some ideas. For that matter check out other garage threads lots of them out there.
You will have to get us up to speed. Good Luck
Oh ya the pylons in your avatar should be standing upright. :lol_hitti
Just joking around. :)

Here are some progress pics. We spent most of the first summer building the structure. I had to hire out the trusses, roof and siding.

Some of the details include, a 16X11 insulated overhead door with a Liftmaster shaft drive opener. I like a well lit building so we started with 6 windows for natural light and 9 4 bulb stainless steel T-45 fixtured my step daughter scored when her workplace swapped them out for LEDs. The walls are insulated with R-19 batts and the attic has blown in to R30+. While up there I installed 2 ceiling fans.

Short term plans are for OSB on the walls with pegboard above the main workbench... I love my pegboard! LOL

A few more pics from the inside.

Gotta give a huge shout out to my Dad for all the help and support in this build. 86 years old and works circles around me.

Another bonus was work letting me use our scissor lift for a "couple" of weeks over the holidays.
