Finally made a mount for my control unit so I don't have to prop it/hold it while cutting.

I'll joint to the discussion also, I have posted it in a discussion a few month ago but it can still help someone here too.

I was uncertain about buying an arcdoid because of the size limitation. I ended up building my own 4x2 table using a MyPlasm controller. I built it with a 26x50in cutting area and having the gantry on le long side means I can extend the table to a 4x4 or a 4x8 in the futur if I ever have more space or needs. But for the moment I still have acess to a 12x20 table at work if I have large parts to make.

It run on an Everlast 60A cutter, I opted for a machine torch and a hand torch, so this way the machine torch is all nicely routed in the cable tray and I can still use the hand torch to break down the full sheet in 2x4 section when I buy them.

Overall I ended up using most of the cutting area a lot more than I was thinking. So an Arcdroid would certainly have limited me or I would have to buy the X2 attachement to make it work for my needs.

I've got two separate projects that will require me to horizontally bore some distance under concrete. I've seen the "Bore it" style boring systems for some time but their kits are a little spendy and I've seen recent posts questioning whether they're actually in business anymore.

Anyway, I decided to try and make a version of my own. I'm still in the cad/planning stage of the rotary coupling piece but I thought I would get a jump start on the boring head since I had both the plate and the black pipe already in the shop.

Cool project! Glad to see your Fixture Table Plugs in place - hope they're treating you well!

Yep! You can see I had to pop a couple out to clamp this setup today. I ended up melting a couple others so I've got to dig into my stash to get everything plugged up again. At this rate, the rest of the pack I've got should last at least another year or two.

So after too many years of welding blankets hanging from the bare framing around my 4x4 Plasma table I am starting to dedicate the space a bit.
My table is up in my wood framed loft on unfinished OSB subfloor.
Goals are to:
  • Waterproof the floor to catch splashing from water table.
  • Sparkproof the walls and beam
  • Add a means of positioning sheets on table from forklift. I am getting too old to manhandle 3/8" sheets into place.
  • Add some dedicated ventilation and a hood of sorts above the table. - I already have an 8" extraction fan that I will dedicate to this.
    • I might hang curtains around to help get down lower but the headroom in the loft is ~6' over the table now.
My thoughts are Drywall as the sparkproofing the wall
A curb and a snowroof type of product to waterproof the floor
Lightweight gypcrete/leveling compound inside the curb for spark proofing over the waterproofing.
Ducting the vent out the soffit. Hood is probably Drywall and mostly captured in the trusses.

I don't run the table terribly frequently but I would like to help keep the shop a bit cleaner, and bring down the risks of a errant spark landing in the wrong spot.

Thoughts on the plan or suggestions on better ways to do this?

I'm in the same situation at the moment. I'm considering using some scrap metal roofing panels for the wall, as I've got a couple left over from a reroofing I did. My dilemma is figuring out where to put my table amongst all the other **** in my shop.
